Gesta should have been declared the winner. Mercito hit Jorge's body & face more times than Jorge hit Mercito's body & face. Mercito blocked Jorge's attempted hits more times than Jorge blocked Mercito's attempted hits. Jorge backed up & clinched more times than Mercito did. Jorge's face was more damaged than Mercito's face. What were the official judges looking at?

This is one of the worst boxing adages out there, that "a champion has to be beaten convincingly or by some imaginary point spread, or by KO." Actually, no...if you beat the champion by one point, guess what? You still beat the champion.

That saying is supposed to imply that judges can be influenced to give close rounds to the champion, so a challenger should always try to win the rounds decisively. But a lot of people actually misunderstand it and think a challenger has to perform more dominantly than a champion does. Simply not true.

Ang importante ay yung connected punches kung scorecard ang labanan pero kung luto ay luto talaga, walang silbi ang dami ng tumamang suntok kung luto sa desisyon

Why are there so many people saying Gesta should have won this fight? He clearly didn’t. Their reasoning is because linares face has damage? They showed the unintentional headbutt that caused it in slow motion. It seems crazy to me that this many people think he actually won this fight beyond what I assume must be misplaced national pride.
