This fight was insane. Very closely contested. There is something about when these Thai fighters trade blows is looks and sounds more painful than any other form or striking I have seen. I really wish these guys had a more mainstream audience in America but OneFC is doing a really good job giving Thai fighters some more exposure to an international audience. One has been making a big splash and it's no surprise with fights like this.

Keep watching them and spread the word and eventually it will be mainstream I mean in the past 5 years iv noticed k1 and muaythai becoming more and more popular for people to watch as people complain how boring boxing is to watch now days when k1/muaythai has so much action in it people start to switch over. Breakdowns like this. Andrew Tate. Rodtang all these big dudes getting people.more into the awareness of the sport

I wouldn't watch fighting if it weren't for One. I never liked UFC. Maybe it appeals more to male viewers, but to me, there is just too much ego, show boating, and dumb photo shoots. I also never enjoyed/understood the ground game before discovering this channel. I can't be the only person who got into watching fights through One!

Oftentimes Rodtand marches forward and overwhelms his opponents because he’s so durable and strong that if they happen to land a blow it doesn’t do much damage… as opposed to when he attacks, each blow is felt. So it was masterful of Superlek to disrupt that forward motion of Rodtang by grabbing his hands and pushing him back💯 Good job on the breakdown bro💯

It’s wild how MT is so effective that they can go into a kickboxing ring with tons of their weapons lost (elbows, clinch, catching kicks) and still be very competitive with kicks and boxing. Lots of MT guys are also stepping up their hands which have arguably been behind still though the non MT kickboxers we’re getting smoked back in the day by Thais bc of MT kicking techniques. Also DJ is right about crossing distance being super hard in kickboxing and boxing bc even though there’s no wrestling you still have way more active hand fighting and kick catching.

It’s kind of dumb but in ONE MT - knockdowns are the first criteria in a draw. So in a 3 round fight, If your opponent scores a knockdown in the round they won, you HAVE to get a knockdown yourself in one of the 2 rounds you won to get the decision.

So while that elbow in Rd 1 from Rodtang DID cause a lot of damage, Superlek was unaffected by it he fought as usual whilst landing MULTIPLE elbows and leg kicks whereas Rodtang didn’t manage to land much else. If you think Rodtang won this fight then you just don’t know how Muay Thai scoring works. It was a good fight but a pretty clear win for Superlek. Rodtang fought well, but not enough to get the W

    6 ай бұрын

@@LegendaryArchiver did you even watch the fight?? How did Rodtang land more significant strikes?? Like legit go round by round and count. Forward momentum doesn’t score in fucking Muay Thai, control does. So whether you’re moving forwards or backwards it’s about being in control of the fight which Superlek clearly was, he stifled Rodtang’s offence. And damage? Fucking damage? That shit only matters if it has an affect on the fighter, so yeah whilst it was a nasty cut which bled a lot Superlek didn’t let it affect him. Superlek pushed the pace, was in control of the fight, landed way more SCORING shots. Bro Mighty Mouse is an MMA fighter, he likes Muay Thai but he hasn’t competed in it. He doesn’t know the intricacies and scoring criteria well. If you try to score it like an MMA fight you’ll be going off course.

  • @Ilikemuaythai240

    @Ilikemuaythai240

@@LegendaryArchiver also aggression doesn’t score for you in Muay Thai. Especially in traditional stadium Muay Thai, aggression can count against you as it is seen as a lack of control and nut Thai is about being in control. But let me guess, the only Muay Thai you’ve watched is ONE, where it’s entertainment Muay Thai (different rule set created to give Westeners advantages against Thai opponents in order to bolster the popularity of Muay Thai in western countries).

@@LegendaryArchiver so yeah Rodtang did more superficial damage (which only really counts if it has an affect on people) but Superlek scored a fkn knockdown. Rodtang had more forward momentum but constantly looked like he was either chasing Superlek or unable to get off meaningful offence so that’s not in his favour. He for sure didn’t land more significant strikes, and while he may have shown more aggression that shit doesn’t score for him.

Demetrious... You're one of the best ever MMA fighters EVER, the way you blend the arts together is better than most to of ever done it, however I couldn't disagree with your opinion rotang won this fight any more. I think there's a lot of nuances to muay Thai scoring that most people aren't aware of and is difficult to access information unless you're a muay Thai fighter within your scene, I understand this is one championship but traditionally in muay Thai scoring punches do not score as highly as kicks, knees and balance, I'll admit watching your breakdown has made me see a compelling argument for rotang, however please rewatch keeping traditional scoring in mind, count how many times superlek is able to kick/knee rotang unanswered (and I don't mean by punches), I understand this isn't traditional however it's still muay Thai and I think the result reflects this

I thought this was a masterclass in how to take a championship. Superlek used his stretegy so well. I think Rodtang wasnt ready for Superleks strategy and by the time he did it was too late. Rodtang was the superior striker but Superlek was the superior tactician in that fight. If they run it back and Rodtang comes better prepared i think he can take back the belt.

Imagine DJ and Khabib training together... I want to just watch a full series and every episode is an hour long of just pure knowledge and GOAT talk between them. Not only would it break the view count, but it would piss off Dana and help so many fighters. That's what the people want to see DJ! Khabib would never say "no" to you bro, just reach out. Would be a fucking awesome watch and I want to see how Khabib would react when you put him in very difficult positions. Please make this happen fam, would bring a smile to the whole MMA world to see two GOATs with extreme confidence learning from each other.

@@itsmesteve1081 If I had to bet money on it, I would pick Khabib based on his pure dominance. I think Khabib could become welterweight champ right now if he wanted to. Now if you asked me if Jones and Khabib were the same weight, I would pick Jones because that's just a pure violent GOAT. Regardless all three are the best of the best and GSP is right under them. Everyone else is 2-3 levels below. Just my opinion.

So if you have JJ over Khabib but khabib over DJ, then you just biased as a fan. And you forgot A.Silva who is arguably the goat too. Only reason JJ is so high regarded is bc he’s LHW/HW

  • @genericereal

It was the right decision. I train Muay Thai, and I've noticed that most of the people who scored it in favor of Rodtang are MMA fans (and oftentimes specifically Rodtang fans), not Muay Thai fans. Muay Thai and MMA are scored differently e.g. kicks and knees are scored higher in Muay Thai. (And as an aside, One Muay Thai is also scored differently from stadium Muay Thai). And just as importantly, all three judges are super experienced in Muay Thai; all three have competed in, refereed, and/or coached Muay Thai for a long time on top of now judging for the sport. What's especially noteworthy here is that all three judges not only were unanimous in their decision on the final outcome (the winner), but also in terms of the round-by-round scoring. It's always great to get the perspective of people like DJ, but I think cases like this showcase how different these combat sports actually are.

@@genericereal I am one of those ONE fans who is also a Rodtang fan. I have no expertise in scoring the matches, for sure. I don’t rate the experience, knowledge etc of the judges as highly as I probably should. It wasn’t all that long ago that Chatri was very vocal about the judges getting it wrong, in his opinion at least, when they gave Xiong Jing Nan a unanimous win decision over Angela Lee. It may be because I’m just a fan with no practical experience in any of the styles, but regardless, decisions in matches sometimes seem to me to be as random as rock-paper-scissors. If it is a case of ONE Muay Thai being that difficult for the common fan to understand the scoring that goes into it then maybe, just a suggestion, ONE should make more of an effort to explain it.

  • @genericereal

@@kevinhiggins7838 Chatri is also notorious for picking favorites (I won't get into TOO much detail here, but just think on the sheer volume of marketing One does for fighters like Rodtang, Stamp, Itsuki, the entire Lee family, etc. Meanwhile, One--and oftentimes Chatri personally--has gotten into bitter disputes with basically the entire Petchyindee gym, and I have personally trained with Ham Seo-hee, and know that at least some of her teammates believe that One intentionally had her wait for the title shot so that she would be older and therefore less likely to win against their starchild Stamp Fairtex). Anyway, if you yourself are unfamiliar with Muay Thai, then I don't really see how you can possibly have an opinion on the quality of the judges' ability to evaluate the fight. Moreover, the rules for Muay Thai is openly and freely listed on their website for anyone to read. You don't see the rulebook slapped across the screen at every football match, so this is par for the course. You're expected to know the rules, and if you don't, it's super easy to find out. Now, obviously the rules are more translucent than in other sports, but that applies to every combat sport. The irony is that MMA struggles WAYYY more with controversial judging than Muay Thai. (And as an aside, the example you brought up was not a Muay Thai fight, it was an MMA fight).

And there is the whole story about Superlek not making weight. Putting that aside, he downed Rodtang in the second round. Does that count as 10 points like in K1? I think Superlek will have no problems at all with Takeru. Superleks left kick with long hands will keep Takeru on distance and kneeing him while coming forward will do the rest.
