    Haha the full English breakfast actually comes from the American breakfast during the revolutionary war. British soldiers (after illegally occupying colonial homes) enslaved the inhabitants and forced them to cook them "full breakfasts" every Sunday morning before drills. After the brits got BTFO later, they stole the tradition and brought it back to England and dubbed it the full English breakfast

    The video above is satire. It is a joke. It is made for fun. We should joke equally about both sides. Not everything has to be 100% fair to both sides when we're making fun of something.

    Go on. You have all the answers I assume? I'm sure you can summarise why Nationalism is on the rise again and how that serves populist leaders seeking to unite a country behind a common, but otherwise entirely false, cause. Do go on. We'll all enjoy your informed response that doesn't in any way address the reality that all of the countries who are falling down the nationalistic-hole are doing so because the Internet has made it easier for people in said country to realise that despite what the media might tell them, their hatred of people from other countries is not shunned by everyone, in fact they have a lot of people they know who hate people from other countries, so why not hate them together and blame them for their shitty circumstances. I'm sure you've got all the numbers right there. Perhaps you might regail us with tales about how the Left ignores the plight of the people while sitting in their lofty castles - this despite them also apparently being dirty hippies who just want to tax the rich to promote socialised nonsense - amirite? Those crazy Dirty Elitest Hippy Lefty Marxists right?... Right? In the very least I'm sure you can provide a succinct summary of why targeting members of a specific religion - a religion I might add that has repeatedly and consistently spoken out against extremists that perform evil in their name under beliefs that are not shared by them - will help everyone? I would have thought that proving the extremists right would have been quite literally the _last_ thing you would want to do, but hey! You got the answers so I'll wait :D

    Doesn't matter why the got elected or why brexit happened... that is not what the joke is about. The joke is popping fun at the government and what the government believes Brexit to be about. Theresa May has framed Brexit as being about immigration. She's not got used to the idea that she is PM now and not Home Secretary... probably because she has yet to win an election as PM so doesn't have a mandate of the people according to her own argument. So doesn't matter why people voted for Brexit... all that matters is that May thinks it was because of immigration and has thus made the issue more important than trade and the economy.

    You mistake me, my friend. I'm not a conservative. In fact, it's remarkable that you extrapolated so much from so little. I don't have all the answers. You also poisoned the well by suggesting that saying the left abandoned the working class is a ridiculous statement, while also proving my point by conflating what the working class wants with "hippy" socialism. In my experience and the experience of others I have spoken to, the working class wants a hand up not a hand out. Don't get me wrong they aren't a monolith, and outliers will exist. I also didn't say I approved the targeting of any religious groups, nor even that I approved of Trump or Brexit. Its irrelevant. I merely disagree about why it happened, and targeting my motivations is an interesting but sadly not unusual tactic. The reason that the right is rising is because the left has been gradually ostracising more and more people, via social media (see: the politically contravertial beige throttled on twitter) as well as traditional (see: MSNBC anchor admitting to/coming to the realisation that they were being cheerleaders for Hillary) and everyone outside of that loop has started to coalesce under the banner of the alt - right and pseudofascist parties that, while extreme, provide what they're looking for. PS: As much as I insist that my personal opinion is irrelevant, you're going to fill in the blanks with whatever you want if I don't define myself first so here goes: I was a remainer at the time of the announcemnt of the referendum, and I still love the idea of a USE, but as of right now and the forseeable future, it doesn't serve the needs of the people. It's impossible to have monetary union without fiscal union, as the people of Greece, Italy and Spain have found out first hand. A fiscal union would mean the unelected comission would be able to overrule local democratic government, and that's something I couldn't support. As for Donald Trump, Bernie was my candidate of choice but since he lost the democratic nomination, it has come to my attention that he is well meaning but hypocritical (He bought a third house with his donations), financially irresponsible at best, and a total pushover (see: BLM crashing his rally). Hillary was a vote for war with Russia as well as 8 years of status quo or worse, and Trump was a wild card. I'll take the wild card, thanks.

    #Tom and Hubert A joke is designed to represent an inner truth, yet this video fails to do that. It's more interested in spreading a false narrative rather than demonstrating an understanding of the reasons why people voted to leave. The reality of this is demonstrated by the following question: Why is voting to leave the EU about not wanting to engage with other countries?

  • @NymeriaMeliae

    @NymeriaMeliae

    Well it was Theresa May that has framed Brexit in terms of immigration... she has yet to realise the difference between being Home Secretary and being a PM but then again, she has yet to win an election as PM and she repeatedly said in parliament when she was in the shadow cabinet that Brown did not have a mandate of the people because he had not won an election as leader of the Labour party... and yet, she thinks she has a mandate of the people because 37.4% of the electorate (not even a majority) voted for Brexit. What country in its right mind would allow major constitutional change based on less than 50% of the electorate? Oh right, America. Any way, they could've just as easily have made a satire about democracy and how the average Brexit supporter shouted about sovereignty and the lack of democracy in the EU but strangely supports the monarchy? Or how about Nigel Farage who sabotaged UKIP's ONLY MP for not doing enough to get even more UKIP peers into the House of Lords (considering 1 MP and 3 Peers compared to the SNP with 54MPs and zero peers).... but is now suddenly anti-House of Lords in the space of a less than a week. Considering one of his arguments was the democratic deficiency of the EU, I am surprised it took him so long to despise the House of Lords. Not to mention that every position of power in the EU except the judges on the ECJ can be changed through a democratic election. So yeh, they could've gone for something other than immigration but it is not really a false narrative when it is mocking the government and the government's stance is that Brexit is about immigration being more important than trade and the economy.
