    There's no virtual orchestra on this? Tap track? Those trumpets sound so clean...and this is a high school production! Well done.

    @@jacobwbauman do you have any tuning or muffling quick tips?

  • @jacobwbauman

    @jacobwbauman

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@jackthebro6548 oh boy! 1. Muffle the drums to control the sustain not the tone. 2. Choose the correct drum sizes and heads for the style. (It is very hard to make a 13” rack tom sound like a 10” rack tom, and an 18” kick sound like a 22” kick) 3. Try tuning the toms to major intervals between each other and the snare to anything that is not an octave, P4 or P5 to the toms. (this will avoid some sympathetic buzz on the snare when playing the toms) 4. Tune with a mallet instead of sticks if possible so you can hear the fundamental note more clearly. Let me know if you have any more questions. Check out a KZread channel called Sounds Like A Drum, they have some great tips on all things drum related!

    Is this the high school version of the show? I see that your sheets aren't handwritten like the Broadway copies. I'm also assuming someone else is doubling on aux percussion parts? do they have their own band part, or are you reading from the same chart?

  • @jacobwbauman

    @jacobwbauman

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, this was the high school version. The aux percussion player is however reading off my chart and I am filling in some of the spots that were written for just percussion.

    @@jacobwbauman Hi Jacob, I've got another question: Can the drum part (including aux perc.) be played by only 1 player? I'm not sure how feasible it is for 1 player, especially with the glockenspiel parts. Also, did your high school have reed doublers that played all the wind instruments, or did multiple people share 1 reed book? thanks!

  • @jacobwbauman

    @jacobwbauman

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@matthewcline8580 Yes, the drum and aux part can be played by one player (and are actually in the same book) we just decided to split them up because we had the capacity to do so. (Most if not all of the stuff that I played in during the aux percussion parts was not notated in the score). We did also have reed doublers play the books for this production.
