I've always suspected he had ap potential with his w scalings, its just mostly null during his mega form. But mega still gives you good engage/disengage with the speed boost in the ranged form

Also, although shadow flame is nice, personally prefer going rage blade after boots. It’s a huge damage spike for gnar, since basically you are focusing high attacks speed, whilst still building ap
