I come back to gaining one so often. There really was something to this album. I wish they got to redo some of these songs, but ill appreciate them as they are. Still a fun listen

Hell yeah, there was some good songwriting going on from this first self-release! Cliff was tearing it up on guitar!
The first time I heard this I hated it. But like a lot of Fair to Midland it really grew on my over time. As I took time to appreciate the more complicated harmonies. There's a lot of avant garde strange for the sake of strange here. It's gives me more to listen for after repeated listens then some of their other albums.
You can definitely hear the System of a Down influence here
you know the feeling when you first time hear something awesome......

Most underestimated band ever
I love Occurrence so much. It's such a strange version of Mudvayne smashed with a bit of Deftones and a whole lotta weird. Love these guys
See Saw is so unusual... i love it so much
Way more interesting and progressive than bands charting in 2002.
i love good disharmonic melodies

Thank you!! I've been looking for this for 10 years!!!!! I was in alternative school in sulphur springs Texas. And had this really weird cd i would listen to all the time on the way home. Come to find out the band was from sulphur springs and the bus driver was one of their mothers. I was blown away.!! Love you all!!!!

@Christian Campbell Kinda depress on what you mean by better. I do subjectively prefer Darroh’s voice overall, but I think a strong case could be made that Mike Patton is probably the better singer. His vocal range is almost double that of Darroh’s which is absolutely insane
@Vynterchilld

@@kimmyfreak200 I wonder if Patton had any kind of influence on Darroh in terms of pushing the boundaries of his own voice? Or is it just Aquarius men being Aquarius men - going crazy with their vocals and setting the new standards for unique-sounding, experimental singing?

Bruh. I remember that shit like it was yesterday. I stumbled across this while looking for inter.funda.stifle, but the first time I saw these guys live (think it was at trees) he did that with the mic. Face was bloodied and the guitar was half naked and barefoot. I fell in love with their unique sound. Right after that interfunda came out and have forgot about them until recently. Thanks for reminding me about that.

They were so big in Deep Ellum that they had to start putting a special stage outside because no venue could handle the massive underground following they had! From a small East Texas town, bad ass band

Didn't even know this album existed. Thanks for the post!
Wow I didn't know this existed either... Can't say I really enjoy it but it's very interesting to hear how they started. They basically took this sound, evolved and perfected it without really sacrificing anything. Sad to see them go (:
I'll see you again when hell freezes over.
This album and its vocals is getting a lot of hate, but the raw intensity of it is great

Andrew was still figuring it out...years later I can appreciate what their intentions were on this masterpiece!
I ended up seeing this band with like as I lay dying, remembering never and such. it was a surprise to hear a band like this w a set like that over 10 years ago ( around the release of mayfly) I was Def stoked to have heard them.
The opening riff on 'Gaining One' sounds like something Gojira would have written several years after this album was released. Sick!
Thanks for sharing.. Reminds me of Dream Theater's first album before James LaBrie signed on. I somehow misplaced it when I was moving out of my parents basement.. Lol
Don't get me wrong, this whole album is amazing for being their 1st release, but from Occurrence to ..(i).. which is the 2nd half of the album in my opinion, is some the best stuff! Cliff your guitar sounds BADASS on With This Easel! I miss you!
Damn Cliff! 43:11 I love you & miss y'all!
Beautiful
This was my introduction to Fair To Midland. I seen and met them after they performed some of these tunes at the Side Car Pub in Houston Tx. If my memory serves me rite they we're to young to even be in there. After the show I got to chill with them for a while, I asked if they would like some ACID my treat. To my surprise they said no.. lol
