FULL 12 Mile Crossing on Motorcycle, of the Applecross Pass, FULL Route by Motorbike Bealach Na Ba

Maybe a bit of a repeat in some way this episode, but this is the FULL ride across the Applecross Pass, so its like the extended version of episode 8 in my NC500 series and shows what is also known as the Bealach Na Ba in its entirety.
A few subscribers asked if it would be possible to show the complete ride over the pass to show them what to expect when they were to attempt it. So here it is showing the WHOLE trip from the Applecross Inn across the 11.4 miles (to be exact) to the other side where at the end you join the A896.
If you haven't seen the NC500 series it's 9 episodes long and can be found in the link below to the full playlist.

Did this in the opposite direction in my scirocco in the eighties with my first wife. She was black Kenyan and we went into the pub in Applecross and it was a moment like in the old westerns when a stranger comes into the saloon. You could have heard a pin drop. I was young and a bit of a coward I suppose and we turned around and went back out again. I realised later that it wasn’t racism or malice but merely my wife was one of the first coloured people that many of them would have seen. We used to stay in the Strome Ferry hotel as I recall. Happy days. Gonna do it on the bike next year. Cameras never do the gradients justice. 😂

Did this road back in August 2017. Pitched in the campsite at the top, went off for a days riding on return weather conditions had deteriorated drastically and had to climb Belach Na Bah in 70 mile gusts and heavy rain to get back to the tent. What an experience. Thanks for showing it us with better conditions. Will have to try again one day

Hi Steve. WOOOOWSERS my friend :)))).. Just cracking my can of Iron Brew now.. Totally enjoyed this video .My apprehension of the drive is much reduced now after seeing it in full. I can see that there is time to psych myself up for the twistys and also time to chill my heartbeat before the next. The aspect ratio, the sound track; Just perfect.. Oh and you are a gentleman; wishing other bikers an enjoyable expierience. Bikers really are from another and better dimension of road users. I will watch this video many times over and be humming allong every time..Omk (oh my karma :) ) I am itching to start my FLTa-NC767.. Keep safe my friend HAPPY DAYS, once again kind regard from Paula and myself :))))))).

Thanks Dave pleased you enjoyed it, what the video doesn't show is the steepness of the road but as far as the bends go you'll be fine especially if your doing it anti-clockwise as the 3 hard hairpins are easier going downhill than uphill. Liking the FLTa-NC767 tag ha ha I just know that you and your good lady are in for a right blast trust me. please stay safe both yourself and Paula and lets hope all our plans for this year go to plan. My dad used to hire a campervan when we were kids. The family did it at least twice in the early sixties. It was torture, mums cooking, no internet, no mobile signal, strewth, don't know how we survived. Wait a minute, nothings changed! Its just a lot busier. But its nice if the weathers good. Nice video. Thank you for sharing it. I rode the NC500 anti clockwise in October 2020 and the weather was...mixed. Stayed in Inverness, Lybster, Ullapool and back to Inverness. I had to dry out the air filter three times when the rain got so heavy. And I ruined a leather glove drying it on the engine and cooked it. A great experience and one I will repeat again after the end of lockdown. Id heard horror stories about this pass but it was ok and saw a huge antlered stag on the way down on the Loch Kishorn side.

Nice video boys; I have done the NC500 & the Bealach Na Baa 7 times in the past 3 years (6 CW, 1 ACW) and was hoping to do it again this year. This section is one of the main highlights of the journey, but the entire route is absolutely spectacular, and one never tires of the 'scenery overload' that can occur! My avatar is of me up in the highlands somewhere on my 'bandit'. Thanks once again, and ride safe!...Cheers!

Really enjoyed your video. I’m kind of moping about this winter since we cancelled what would have been a trip to Greece in 2020, so we were looking back to a fabulous 2019 in which we rode this pass and a bunch of the NC500 on a Tracer 900 rented from Saltire. This was (obviously) one of our favourite roads! We went the opposite way and it was a similarly dark and tempestuous day and as the road climbed out of the lower valley, we were suddenly blasted by a crosswind from the high side that threatened to hurl us down the slope. We have experience with this sort of thing so I absolutely loved every minute, though my wife, initially, was less enthused. I’m glad to know the proper name, but, by whatever name, it’s a fantastic road. The best roads we have in Canada can’t quite compare, but between the open topography and the engineering for drivers of the bottom 20th percentile, we don’t really stand a chance. I’d jump at the chance to ride in your playground any time. And ignore the whingers; your music picks are great. Dan in B.C.

Thank you for sharing that, Steve. Great to see that brilliant road again. I went over Bealach Na Ba 45 years ago in an old Renault 4 with an 850cc engine (smaller than my bike now). We had to wait at the summit until the steam stopped pouring out. On the return from Applecross the pathetic drum brakes were fading, so I pulled the handbrake on a few notches to do a quick adjustment of the shoes (remember that?). Then a couple more notches... and a couple more. Then the handbrake lever (a bit of bent rod sticking out under the dashboard) came off in my hand. Needless to say, I was sweating a bit when we made to the bottom. Since then, I've done a fair bit of bike touring way up North in Scotland but I haven't done the Pass of the Cattle again. Hope I can - and stay at the Applecross Inn - some time soon.

I was staying in Lochcarron and the old guy from the B&B said it will be in the clouds, and he was right.
