    Hi Jay, I figured it out! I did a reset, and checked my re-entered menu settings one at a time. When I changed ISO from Auto 3 to L80, "shooting + motion" and "continuous + motion" greyed out. When I returned to Auto 3, they became available again. Yay! Cheers, Steve

    Do you know if the X-S10 allows for all film simulations when shooting in auto mode? I know the X-T30 didn't allow this and it does become useful to shoot in classic chrome in auto in some situations.

    Sold the X-T30 and bought the X-S10 with zero regrets. Love the X-S10 ergonomics and IBIS! Also own the x100v. They are both so fun to shoot with. Favorite lens and only lens I own is Fuji XF 35mm 1.4. Feel like I have all I need. Shoot street, landscape and portrait. Favorite film simulation is Velvia. Shooting portraits with Velvia gets lots of compliments. Really like your channel.

    Solid post, Jay! For street photographers who like to shoot from the hip touch screen “Shot” can work quite well. I have focus check on with joystick press to zoom in, instead of turning lens (somewhat faster). I’ve been setting up C1-C4 and found the process fiddly at best. We can name each Custom set, but the name doesn’t appear on screen when shooting. Also, some options for the C1-C4 are greyed out (mainly in Wrench menu), a bit disappointing. A future vid on the topic would be welcome. Have a great New Year!

  • @JayRegular

    @JayRegular

    Yes the custom modes are currently the biggest setbacks which hopefully fujifilm can change in a future firmware. One thing I can say is having no screen protector on my X-S10 makes the touch screen response very quick! on my x100v sometimes it can sometimes be inconsistent.

    Hi Jay, thanks for your videos. I'm sure I'll watch them again. I just began using my X-S10 today! First non-point and shoot camera. It was much easier than I thought. I have the 18-55 and 55-200. After shooting for a couple of hours, I went back into the IS options, and noticed that "shooting + motion" and "continuous + motion" were greyed out and therefore unavailable. They were when I first set up my camera. I can't figure out what setting(s) I changed that caused this to happen. Any ideas? Thanks! Steve

  • @JayRegular

    @JayRegular

    Hey Steven, I am also not very sure about those two IS shooting modes. From what I understand you need to be in certain shooting settings for it to be available. I did notice that it was available when I switched to Aperture priority on the command dial. I had face detect turned off, single shot af mode, and multi exposure for photometry. my shutter speed was under 1/50th of a second. The purpose of those two IS modes seems to stabilise and maintain focus on faster moving subjects to reduce blur, so maybe it has something to do with slower shutter speeds? Hope this helps in some way.

    From I found so far, C1-4 will have most of the same settings from the video mode ie, resolution, frame rate, audio settings etc. The only difference is that if you record while in C1-4, it will override the film simulation settings in you set in video mode and apply the film simulation you have currently assigned to that C number.

    Hi again Jay, quick question about the Q menu on my X-S10. I set my Q screen to 16 items. When I press Q, the upper left icon displays the current shooting mode, and is the only icon that can't be adjusted by the rear command dial. When pressing the Q for two seconds to access Q edit display, the same upper left area is blank and seemingly cannot be accessed. The X-T30 and, I believe the X-T4 show the icon "BASE" in the upper left, and I think is related to custom settings. Is this how it is supposed to be? I just watched your video again. You set your Q screen to 8 items, and your upper left area was also blank, so only 7 were there. Thanks! Steve

    Hello great video. there is something I'm not able to do in my XS 10 when it comes to the four custom setting. every time I uses a manual lens and change the aperture using the Aperture ring on the lens something else compensates for it such as shutter speed or something else and its preventing me from getting dark images. how do you stop this so that when use slow aperture it will the look I'm trying to achieve without it compensating with something else to brighten the image its so annoying. this happens in all four custom settings. thanks

    Do you have Auto ISO activated? you need to manually set the ISO value using the iso button that way you can control the shutter speed using rear command dial. With the custom settings it's harder to change ISO quickly, if I want full control of the camera I usually set it to manual mode on the top dial, but I understand that custom settings allow for fujifilm recipes to be saved. It's a little fidgety
