I just picked up this camera new with grip and 2 batteries for 990 US. I’m so stoked with this new camera of mine for all the reasons you mentioned. It’s such a pleasure for all the types of photography I do, it covers all the bases for me and a ton of fun to use. Namaste 🙏

Great comments and a great review. Now, I have a question for you. The grip on the XT2 is smaller that the grip on the XH1, so, for for small hands, would you say, the XH1 is as comfortable as the XT2? Do you still have the same reach to the buttons with the XH1?

Thanks for your reviews. I'm only about 6 months into practicing photography. Currently using a Nikon D3400 and I'm going to make the jump to Fujifilm. I keep reading on some forums that people can't open Fuji raw files in Lightroom. They need to convert them first. Is that sill true with the current Lightroom. I'm using Adobe Cloud with the monthly fee. Thanks for your time. And I loved your honest review of the Sony a73.

D850...the one camera that does It all. X-H1...the one camera that does it all. I think history will see these two camera as being the vanguard of the new era of "cameras good enough to be a general or multi purpose". Nikon and Fuji...making history, again. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️

The D850 is not the vanguard of anything! It represents the last of DSLR evolution. Both Canon and Nikon have already abandoned full frame camera and APS-C camera development and allocated their development funds to the development of mirrorless cameras.

I don't even like sony or own anything sony BUT you cant exclude the a7iii that camera does it all also and for a cheaper price than both the XH1 and obviously the D850 (my dream camera). I own the XH1 and I'm always the unlucky one and my XH1 has fucked up and froze on me for 2 different shoots along with some bizarre battery draining at the same time. It was my switch from canon dslrs and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I want to love this camera but I don't obviously because of these major issues the camera is not reliable and useless to me.

I enjoyed this video a lot! If I wasn't a micro 4/3 shooter - I would definitely take the plunge (despite the so so stabilization performance). I have an X100F, so I know that the X-H1 will deliver amazing results. I don't get how they can advertise 5.5 stops of compensation (with the IBIS) when an experienced user like you is barely managing 2.5 to 3 stops in the real world.

Now when the both cameras been out, in Sweden there's 70% more than the xt2 (both w grip) is there still a good buy? Don't do videos but live the bigger grip (xt2 w grip have some grip now) but I can't decide. Xh1 have the same price than xt3 here

Alright, been looking for a new camera system and you have me sold on the x-h1. Currently shooting olympus micro 4/3. I have the 1st gen EM-5 and was looking at getting the Omd Em1 Mark II. However, the cost of the new pro lenses are ridiculous at over 1k apiece. I can get an x-h1 and 2 lenses for the same price as the new oly body with 1 pro lens and can go from m /43 to aps-c.. Question is, am I gaining much in image quality and do I need a different raw converter for the fuji as I hear on forums the lightroom is not optimal for raw conversion of fuji xtrans files.

Ken, As a landscape and product photographer using the X-Pro2 with some stellar Fujinon optics, I am pleased with the image quality and detail rendition I am obtaining with the X-Pro2 and for example, the awesome Fujinon XF80mm f/2.8 Macro lens. That lens is the sharpest lens I've used in my 40 years of photography! That said, I was hoping that the new 26MB BSI sensor and Image Processing Engine of the X-T3 would give even more detail. I do realize that there must be "some" improvement" in image quality, however I saw one KZread comparison between the X-T3 and X-T2, and he concluded that there was very little improvement in terms of sharpness and detail rendition at base ISO. As I don't shoot video or high ISO, those improvements don't concern me. So, can you please tell us exactly how much of a sharpness/detail rendition improvement there is in the new X-T3 sensor, AT BASE ISO (160-200)?? (I don't shoot high ISO. Thanks!

Enjoy your reviews. You know your stuff and I do get a laugh. Based on your opinions and recommendations I'm going to take the plunge. I'm going to change systems from Pentax and I'll purchase an X-H1 with a suite of lenses. I have to pull you up on one thing though because you said Pentax were going to collapse about 2 years ago. They are still releasing cameras. Pathetically slow and not the camera I want (I want a flagship apsc-c like the X-H1) but they are still releasing cameras. Anyway, after that smackdown can I trouble you for a bit of advice about the X-H1. How is the ergonomics for a left eye shooter. I would imagine the extra eye-cup relief would assist. Can the touch screen still be used for placing focus points or does the nose get in the way.

Hi Ken, I do have a question regarding XH1 eye detection and face detection for still photography after the update 2.01. I'm portrait/event/people photographer currently shooting with my beloved xpro 2. I guess my main question is about that eye/face detection in XH1 after upgrade is it better or at least same as my xpro 2 ? I know there is also xt3 which is very good but right now the 1000$ for XH1 with IB and battery grip+ 3 battery is very hard to resist. It wood be nice to stabilize those 56 mm and 16-55mm or 35 mm in low light situation. I'm not much worry about videos future they nice to have but not crucial for me. Thank you for your advice I know you're one of the best Fuji guy out there who has answer to my question. Take care and have nice day. J.

Guys the best reason to buy the XH1 besides video, is 2 of fujis best lenses (with their ONLY criticism being no OIS) I’m talking about the 16-55 and 90mm. Both of these legendary lenses get near perfect reviews, with their only complaints being lack of image stabilization. Now with the XH1 both of these beasts get a fantastic free upgrade. If you like either of these lenses that alone maybe worth getting the upgrade for. Or maybe you wanted to like them in the past but didn’t bc of the lack of ois nows your chance. The bigger size probably balances the lenses better too. Also, while I can’t personally vouch for it, I’ve heard several people say that their slower lenses like the Fuji 35 1.4 and 56 focus faster on the xh1. If this is true that also maybe the deciding factor for many stills photographers bc they love these lenses for portraits but wish they focused faster.

While you were right about the XT3 not having IBIS, you were way off about the video specs. The XT3 blows the XH1 out of the water. The XT3 when it came out had one of the best video specs of any camera. It was actually so good that even today in 2023 is still competitive and, other than IBIS, beats most APSC cameras and even some full frame ones.

@@TheCoomer Hi. I got them from E-infin. They are a company I've used loads of times and get some extra discount. I think they advertise the camera and grip for about £760. I could have had the X-T3 for few quid more, but it didn't make sense financially as the X-H1 , for me, is perfect. The X-T3 will be heavily discounted when Fuji release the X-T4 soon. It will make a great second body (X-T3)

Ken, the only reason to buy this Fuji is for the Glass, which is cheaper and better than Sony. But the Sony A7III technically blows away almost any other mirror-less camera base on technology not on ergo. Dont get me wrong, i shoot my and XT-1 and i love it. So the X-H1 will be in bag eventually, but for FF mirror-less, Sony cant be beat.

I love my xt2 but I already know this camera is “legendary” even though I easily left Sony apsc for Fuji two years ago. I was talking about the overall capabilities and body style. But I have to say that the build quality and finish of the a7's is as good as the top of the line fuji's. The other day I had in my hands the xt20 and that camera has a terrible built quality, the buttons feel so cheap and misplaced, really disappointing. By the way I have nothing against fujifilm, just telling what I think, in fact I'm considering getting the xpro2, which I think it is a unique camera.

I’m for 1 is disappointed at the XH1. The size is so large and the battery still remains small. I would have purchased it if it is the size of the XT2, it’s got everything I wanted except for the size and the battery. It should never be this big for a crop sensor and it’s a mirrorless. Got the Sony A7iii instead

owning Nikon and Fuji, I'd say a DSLR-like body is a blessing, as you have several alternatives, even within Fuji, if you don't care much about this design. on the other hand, the battery seems very well to being the camera's weakest feature. I'm curious to get my hands on one, as it will probably mean I will go mostly Fuji, and only keep a Nikon for the FF reason. I'm actually glad they kept this battery so that one can use the same model throughout their camera's. My D800E and D7000 both share the same batteries..and, to me.. that's a plus.

  • @swonghobby

Theoria Apophasis yes you can put a IBIS in and made it small. Yes, Sony has issues, but at the same time, no cameras are perfect. Sony has made their camera a lot better than the older model and they have IBIS 2 years ago. No reason why Fuji can't do it. The whole talk and concept of a mirrorless is to remove the mirror and make the body smaller. XH1 is DSLR size. Actually larger than some Canon/Nikon Crop sensor Camera. Not the way to go. Honestly for this reason, the XH1 is not going to see too many. They could have my business. I love the Fuji lens line. It just doesn't make sense for me on the size

  • @swonghobby

    @swonghobby

    6 жыл бұрын

V4D2 that's not true. The should mirrorless idea is to remove the mirror and it can fit into a smaller body. Yea, some people has larger hands, but as many has mentioned. They go through the day of wedding carrying 2 large DSLR is a drag. Travelers, the smaller the better with the biggest sensor as possible. Making it just a tiny bit larger than XT2 is reasonable. For one, the grip on the XT2 is not great, but it's much much larger. The battery, their argument is we have the same battery. Yes, Sony has said that too before they switch. That is the biggest complain in the industry. Having the same battery or different battery does not matter. All you need is 1 extra vs 5 extra. I was very excited before I actually went to a Fuji Demo day to check it out. Just a disappointment. Sony just released the A7iii, undeniable this camera has a lot to offer. The full frame smaller than a crop. I would prefer to go fuji if it would fit me. It just doesn't work.

XH1 is DSLR size! Rubbish! It's much smaller than my D500 and only slightly larger than the X-T2. Batteries are small, so no big deal to carry a few spares anyway. I can live with this as a compromise. I was going to buy an X-T2, but on handling both, the X-H1 just felt so much better in my hands.
