    The main reason for me use the the gfx system is I like the GF 110mm better than the RF 85mm 1.2. The glass isn't comparable in my opinion. It's not about the bokeh, the gf 110mm at f8 to f11 is gold. Also, I know many prefer the look of the gfx 50 sensor over the 100 sensor but I disagree. The tonal gradients on skintones is a really nice bang for the buck. Hard to do better than gfx without getting into more expensive systems. Strictly speaking image quality. Obviously full frame cameras have a lot speed and performance advantages.

    The MF look is shallow DoF but also the unique perspective you get when you combine the compression of say, an 80mm short tele with the angle of view of a 50mm normal lens at a closer distance (“the physics of it”, like you said). I’ve been on the verge of buying a Fuji 50S or Hassy 907 but I’m not convinced the increase in sensor size from 35mm to 44X33 is enough to give a true MF look. I’m thinking that if you shoot a 58/1.2 on your R5, you’re gonna get awfully close in MF look to a 50S w/ its standard 63mm/2.8 lens and have shallower DoF even. Be cool to try... Love your content.

  • @nyanyamero

    @nyanyamero

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes this is what i've also been thinking, but after doing my "research" it's not just the dof, you also need to factor in the "area in focus" having f1.2 in ff the area in focus is so shallow you kinda lost details in your subject. Personally i don't like that f1.4 is my limit for me. If tou want the medium format look in ff 85mm f1.4 and stiching multiple images is one way to go.

    They’re both insanely similar. If you’re not shooting for clients that require mroe MP, don’t think you’ll need it. You really won’t see a difference except for when you zoom in 100% haha.

    @@cammackey Thanks! That's what I've been gathering lately. There's a lot of weird misinformation out there about the colors being different on KZread but I think that might be from when they first came out and the color profiles weren't quite worked out yet. A lot of people recently who have had experience with both say they look about the same except when you zoom in.

    @@NickDelDuca I find the R6 does some weird stuff with skin in really bad light, an issue I didn't have with the 5D Mark III/IV. It like looses the skin color somehow if the light is very flat/blue which I do like to shoot when its overcast but now I can't shoot if its that dull overcast light. Something weird there,, but 100% fine in other lighting conditions. Maybe a white balance thing also but never an issue I previously had. I shoot raw anyway. I have not tried the R5.

  • @hellolau

    @hellolau

    @@hellolau Hmm. Wonder how the R3 is. I just don't think I want an R5 at this point. I've actually been considering trying out Nikon. I've tried Sony and I hated the colors. Have you or anyone else had issues with Canon R5 files not recording all in 4k? I have my r5 set up with custom modes the main one being 4k 30 fps, 1/60, 400 iso CLOG. I primarily shoot that way for vlogs, but sometimes it randomly decided to produce files that are basically 1080p and not in CLOG ? And I'm not sure why it does that cause it would really just be a random file out of a set of files shot.

  • @cammackey

    Fujifilm's GFX series camera models (and especially the 50 series ones) have EVF of a tragic quality compared to the EVF of Canon R series cameras, where you can see considerable shimmering and moiré patterns on all surfaces when looking through it. Most of the photos will be free from these unwanted effects, but before you take them, you may already be wondering if I really did the right thing by buying this camera. Currently, I use the Canon EOS R on a daily basis. At the end of last year, I bought a Fujifilm GFX 50SII camera with a Fujinon GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 WR lens. It was supposed to be my last photographic purchase, the crowning achievement of my photographic equipment journey. I had it at my place for a few hours, and after those few hours the camera was packed back in order to send it to the seller to give me the money back. The EVF in this camera is a mistake compared to the Canon EOS R, not to mention the Canon EOS R5.

    You need the GFX100s for your purposes and faster AF. Yeah, it will still be a bigger rig and slower than any mirrorless FF (including your R5). B U T, the files you get out of it are absolutely amazing, you get an unmatched editing flexibility and the focusing is dramatically improved over the 50sII that has sensor that is now 8 years old and makes ZERO SENSE for Fuji to keep cycling it onto “new” cameras. Forget about the 50sII that gives you the same problems and workflow as the original 50s and 50R.. it’s all old news. Do the same comparison testing with the 100s that will realistically rival the quality of your MF film cameras and with a much better capture and post-processing workflow. Keep up the awesome work❤️❤️❤️
