Just a tip for those who want the best color out of the camera straight from the Jpeg shots. If you’re on auto mode drop the exposure to -1 and you’ll get deep colors and great exposure in good sunlight of course. If you have manual mode I also adjust my iso to lowest and then adjust shutter speed and aperture to make the exposure meter to -1 and I get super deep colors 😎

I have a Kodak EasyShare c813, and I figured out it has a secret menu, and it lets you change from 8 bit to 10 bit color, and allows you to shoot in RAW color. It is only an 8.2MP camera, but it takes great pictures. The problem is every time you power off the camera you have to reset the settings to RAW and 10 bit color. Not really a big deal though. The RAW color files are also like 10MB each, and not many programs can read the picture file type, but you can convert the pictures to a different file type. May be a hassle, but the pictures are like night and day, because the RAW color pictures are way better.

@@brandonmurray3629 If you get one, click the menu button, then click on setup menu, then click about, and while on the about section hold down the delete button and the right directional button, and the hidden menu will popup. The funny part is Kodak literally named their hidden menu 'hidden menu'. I guess they were thinking if you accidentally found it, they wanted you to know it was a hidden menu.

😉 Cumprimentos, Jorge Tuna

My dad loves one of that series, looks just the same, widest angle is 27mm equivalent! Don't remember the resolution or anything, whether it has RAW. I remember the screen is transflective and always works. I might borrow it. Transflective screens are sunlight legible but the colour is muted. I am walking a PowerShot G2, it has RAW capability, RawTherapee and Darktable process the photos. Lens is nice enough. I have had several batts for it in various states of decay so i ordered a new Cameron Sino batt for it, the batt arrived same day and no problem so far. I also like my Optio W10 but it's in need of some work and doesn't do raw. But then the display is transflective and is very helpful with hist+peaking so the shots come out well exposed, and it's all one handed control and very quick. I love belt holstering that one, and i think periscope lens cameras like this one are severely underrated.

This is such a lovely camera. A few years ago I got one in a lot of film cameras, and I made the stupid mistake of thinking I could take the lens off of it and attach a LTM full frame lens. Once the ribbon is cut the camera errors and my plan failed miserably. Years later I'm really kicking myself for doing that. Back then there were not digicam videos of course and I had no idea how great this camera and other older cameras are. If only I could go back and not mutilate that camera.

I find it easier to get shots in peace when I use those nifty little point and shoot machines. I like any Canon digital elph 5 megapixels or above. I have and alder SD400 that still takes great pics to this day. I've also used many other brands, some great, and some just terrible LoL. You know, I also wonder why every one of these types of cameras was silver. You don't really see a lot of stuff from that time in many other color options.

I LOVE these old Fuji SuperCCD sensors! Much better than their modern CMOS sensors IMO. I wish they would bring it back in a few modern bodies. I currently have a Finepix A610 (first A series camera to use the SuperCCD) the A825 (8 megapixel version of the A610) and the F20. Considering an E series like this to get better manual control. Past semiconductor technology often cannot be respun, because manufacturing hardware is lost. I think they could just tweak an off the shelf CMOS semiconductor by redoing a dye layer on it to be more similar, maybe rearranging the matrix in a binning array. But if it's CMOS, will people seeking for old look buy it? Difficult.

The raws have not a look.; they are raw data, in binary I imagine, and what you see is the software interpretation of such data if you use a raw converter or editor, or the reference jpeg of a raw file in an image viewer. This is not a x-trans sensor but those RAF files indeed show how different each algorithm of every raw converter interpret data of Bayer sensors.

Hey! Shooting raw will get you a bit more grain because you’re bypassing the internal noise reduction. If that’s not an option you can always add grain in Lightroom, VSCO or using the method in my film grain video. I probably wouldn’t use a higher iso than you need to because you’ll get worse detail, color and dynamic range. As far as in camera settings each camera is different so I would experiment with shooting the same subject with different saturation, contrast, exposure levels etc and find the settings you like best. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Any IBIS in it? I had (and now have another new condition) Canon Elph 310 for years and didn't know it had IBIS. Over the years you will wind up with a special group of pics to be very pleased with.. Even if It's just 40 pics. Due to the 12 megs, you'll see some noise in the sky even at ISO 100. I downloaded the demo of Topaz Photo AI and let Topaz decide what to do with the images with sky noise. Since I have a 27" Retina screen, I do a screen grab to save the shots. Marvelous results leaving even dramatic complicated clouds fine while the blue sky loses all noise. Plus, the screen grab winds up being around 30 megs. And the demo has no end date. Do yourself a favor and never put the camera in a pocket that has lint. Eventually these zoom lenses will suck the lint on the barrel back onto the sensor, and you can't remove it.

Nice review and take on old point and shoots. I'm not so sure if I would go so far as picking up a point/shoot from the early 2000's. Also, this camera aesthetically isn't very attractive on top of it being way outdated. There's good point and shoots. I wouldn't choose this one. Canon made some really nice ones. And sony. The Canon S90 I remember being proficient, and a good looking simple camera. Probably from around 2010? And 10 or 11 megapixels? Nice camera. I would avoid shooting digital from before 2008. Or go the opposite direction and get some REALLY early digital cams. Don't really see the point in those mid-late 2000's ones that were pretty okay, to whatever decent, to "huh... ya, that's a pretty good digital photo.. Maybe I'll sell my Minolta Maxxum, and get one of those little computer cameras". They aren't good. There's nothing good about them. Again... not even novel enough to be novel. Just random shitty digitals.

I’ve been shooting this style camera since they came out, long before they were called “digicams”. I said they are popular because they are. Seems a bit harsh to think I don’t care about photography as an art form. Why would I shoot and share my experience, I’m not making any money here. Good luck shooting, hope to see you back in the future.
