I have to agree. I really love my xf90mm lens. It's so sharp and can be used for many different types of photography, not just portraits. I use it for sports, street, landscape, basically anything. I was lucky after some very patient shopping to get a barely used copy for under $500 US. This was back in fall of 2022 when the new bodies and lenses all came out and people were selling their "old" stuff. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the price. The lens is so sharp and focuses quickly as well. That makes it really nice for sports. Love your examples. They all show how good the IQ is with the 90mm.

I shoot 45mm on micro 4/3 camera, which is basically 90mm on full frame. This is my first camera and lens and I have been loving and shooting the hell out of it. Thank you for this video. It's helping me understand the perspective and composition from the focal length that I have. Much love ❤️

Thank you! Enjoy the experience. Takes some time, but it is so satisfying shooting narrow

Super lens, one of my favorite Fujifilm lenses. Difficult to find any flaws.

I agree it is probably one of the best lenses produced for various mounts over the last couple of years

Hi. It's good to see a review that doesn't pigeonhole this lens as a 'portrait only' lens. If i could get a good deal on it used, i think i might add it to my kit as i don't have anything at this length. It certainly gives a different perspective. Thanks.

Thank you for the feedback. I love the sigma 56mm for street and travel and the 90mm is a completely different ball game for travel and street. Takes some time getting used to the narrow field of view. I got a battered copy for 500 bucks and never regretted it

Thanks for the nice video! One of the most fun applications I had with a 135mm was shooting panoramas. Because it is such a long focal length, has the nice compression and almost 0 distortion, the level of quality and detail you get in a panorama is just stunning, because you basically create a wide angle image from close-ups.

Oh I would have never entered my mind to use it for panorama... excellent suggestion. Will try it this afternoon. You've just given me inspiration both for shooting and a new youtube episode. Thank you!

@@PaulTakesPhotos You're welcome! If you have a tripod head with a rotating base, it is really quite easy with a 135mm equivalent. Some new video gimbals can do it automatically; position and trigger the camera. Panoramas stitch best if you have an about 30% overlap in the photos. A 135mm has an 18 degrees horizontal field of view, so if you take a photo every 10 - 12 degrees horizontally, it stitches perfectly. And on a rotating tripod base it's usually easy to see the 10 degrees marks. If you use a much longer focal length, making panoramas becomes very tedious due to the limited field of view, but 135mm is to me is a nice middle ground. If you like, I can send you a downloadlink with an example I took with the Sony A7Riii and 135mm f1.8 GM.

I sold my 90mm 3 days ago, but my buyer brought it back saying when he moved the spot focus to areas other than center, he got out of focus shots. Face/eye detection off, etc. I now have the lens, testing it with the spot focus dead center, first setting it to manual, defocussing and then flipping it to S and letting the lens change focus, and got fine results. My top dial is in S mode. No issues with ibis, tripod, etc. But moving the spot focus to upper left and using the same technique, I got poor focus. Face Eye detect off, boost mode on, etc., etc. Any ideas?

Oh dear that is unusual. I'll have to test it myself. You basically gave me a little mystery. Let me check and I'll get back to you
