Fuerteventura Airport, Canary Islands: Approach and Landing Runway 19, FUE / GCFV. Cockpit view

Approach and landing on runway 19 at FUE /GCFV airport, Canary Islands, Spain. Airbus A320, Cockpit view. Filmed in 4k. Fuerteventura El Matorral airport is loacated at the Fuerteventura coastline close to the city of Puerto del Rosario.
Fuerteventuras runway 19 is comfortable 3406 meters long. The threshold for landing is displaced by 466 meters. So the remaining distance for landing is 2940 meters. With 3.5 degrees, the glideslope for runway 19 is steeper than the usual 3 degree glide. Due to the steeper approach angle, the required vertical speed is higher and the required thrust during the approach is less than on a standard 3 degree approach. Our final approach speed was about 140 knots. For a 3 degree approach, this would require a vertical speed of 700 feet per minute. The 3.5 degree glideslope on this approach required a vertical speed of approx. 820 feet per minute. Due to the high sinkrate, the flare (reduction of the sinkrate for landing) must be started early enough. If it would be started too late, the result would be a harder landing.
At the beginning of the video, you can hear the original Fuerteventura ATIS broadcast for the approach: ATIS is the automatic terminal information service from the airport. It transmits on a VHF radio frequency all the important information for the approach. This includes: runway in use, runway condition (if wet or so), type of appraoch, cloudbase, wind direction and speed, temperature and dewpoint, QNH (needed for the right altimeter setting) and other important information, e.g. closed taxiways ... ATIS broadcasts are usually updated every 30 minutes unless there are important changes, which have to be communicated immediately: e.g. thunderstorm activity at the airport. Some airports also transmit the ATIS information as digital information which can be printed or displayed in the cockpit.

Over the time, I learned that it is very difficult to choose an adequate music. Viewers who like my videos do not necessarily like the same music as I like. Also lots of good music is not available due to copyright protection. So I decided a while ago to publish all new videos without music. If available and possible, I include more cockpit audio instead.

I am sorry about this. My newer videos contain no music anymore. Instead, the audio concentrates on the cockpit communication. Please watch this Fuerteventura approach kzread.info/dash/bejne/oZV9t7Cfktu_nbA.html and tell me how you like the videos without music. Have a nice day!
