Fueling My Yamaha FX SVHO

The trick to fueling your 2019 Yamaha FX-SVHO is to take it slow and listen for the gurgling sound that indicates it's about to overflow even when it's nowhere near close to being full. I normally take a look at my gauge to figure out how much I used on my last ride then I begin to fuel with a target number equivalent to the amount the gauge shows that I used. Normally when you're reaching near fuel tank capacity is when you have to take it slow so that the air in the tank will have time to escape without spilling any fuel. It can be very frustrating when it starts to gurgle and you still have 7 gallons to go but if you take it slow and let it settle it will actually go much quicker. The total elapsed time on this video was 5 minutes from the beginning of the fueling till the end and that included a break to let the tank settle and release some air.

Love that rack with the cooler and gas tanks on each side. Where did you buy that? Awesome set up.

The rack is custom-made by Robbie Taylor of RT Metals. You can find RT Metals on Facebook.
This happened on my brand new ski fuel farted back up the filler neck and all over the ski, that first tank was a bitch to fill in on my 3rd tank and I have to fill 1/4 squeeze. Something could be improved there
great vid, i had to pump slow as well.....thought it was just my ski
do you need to use 93 octane or can you use 91 octane

Cooper Drake I use 93 octane when available otherwise I use 91 octane.
I saw another video of this problem. There is a device at the tank in the hose that if you flip the ski it stops the gas from coming back to the cap. He removed it and that problem was solved.

79xlch Yes removing the check valve will help speed up the fueling process but it will come at the cost of removing a safety margin.
What's your opinion on removing the check valve. The video doesn't spend anytime explaining what the check valve is there for. I'm assuming for managing inverted skis. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e3t9vLGTg67IZtY.html
You are over filling it the fumes expand

Not quite sure what your point is, the Yamaha fuel tanks are notorious for acting full when the tank is only half full. So in order to avoid spilling any fuel you have to pump it at a much slower rate to give the tank time to vent the air.
Finally my FX has arrived! kzread.info/dash/bejne/qIWKyNiAk6W0o6w.html
