Well done to Dahen on this video . A quick way i use to check the operation of the fuel pump with the multi meter is to set the amp meter on the 20amp jack plug some only go up to 10 amps that is still ok. i remove the relay from the socket and place the amp meter leads into the 30 and 87 . However you must be extra care full that you have placed the leads correctly in position because the 85 and 86 terminals are operated by the computer to switch the relay on. 85 and 86 terminals is what they call the switching side. The 30 and 87 is the load side that runs the pump. Once you bridge the ammeter across the 30 and 87 it will activate the pump some need the ignition on and some don't. Most times the 30 or 87 is a live wire so power is there all the time. I note the amps reading and from this work out what the problem maybe. 5 to 7 amps would show the pump is working ok. Over 10 amps would indicate a blockage , possible fuel filter. 0 to 2 amps possible run out of fuel or a major leak , you should be able to smell fuel if this was the case. Hope this can help people that know how to use a multi meter . Dahen showed some good simple methods when you do not have a multi meter. However when working with fuel systems you MUST be very care full as one spark from a wire could result in a major explosion. Neil Australia.

Hi, I have no start problem, since I changed fuel filter. Checked voltage at fuel pump on key on and then start position on multi meter, and it is 12.26amp. So this means no bad fuel pump fuse or relays .when connect to fuel pump and switch on, pump doesn’t make any noise at all. I removed a hose pipe and test with another pipe. When I turn on key , fuel starts coming out. I checked resistance on fuel pump which is around 1.2 or 1. What do you think is it the fuel pump bad because it is not making noise , means not producing full pressure? Please help. Thanks.

There is a noise. Sometimes a big noise and sometimes a small noise. Do you have trouble running the car?

Dahen Zana hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes car doesn’t start. There is no noise at all. I removed seat and put my ear to fuel pump, cannt gear. But when connected hose and turn on key , petrol comes out. Already checked spark plugs for sparks etc.. everything was fine, as far as I remember when I changed fuel filter then it started happening. No start, cranks fine, crankshaft sensor is fine too.

If the gasoline comes out of the tube like the pressure in the video. Means the fuel pump works. You have another problem

Dahen Zana thanks for your reply. Yes the fuel comes out with such pressure as in video. I think the fuel filter may have caused no start issue. I need to check fuel pressure on engine side. Need to buy gauge. Thanks.

@@786hunzavalley It's not the fuel filter, because if it's dirty you have intermittent problem. If the car stops , switch it of leave for 5 minutes, this will unblock the filter the will start again. I think you have regulator from the fuel problem.

My Kia Sportage suddenly stops whiles in motion but restarts again within few seconds. Any help?

I have no power to my fuel pump wires. Put in a new pump but nothing. Old engine on sedona blew so I bought another one out of a wrecked one. Put engine in everything works just fuel pump has no power to it. Spray starter fluid into intake cranks on. Any idea what it could be?

Great video. This will help me test my fuel pump power supply. Testing my fuel pump relay would be more difficult because I have a 2005 optima and it's a big 8 pin device and I don't know the pin out.

Ok . From relay . You dont ned to test . Just when its not work. A suit with a light relay or any relay does not need it temporarily . Then open the broken relay and you know the 8 pin out map

I took the relay apart and there were two inside. I checked them both and they work. I guess that means it is the fuel pump that is broken because it doesn't make a sound when I turn key to ON position.

Great video, thanks. Anyone know how to test the fuel pressure on 2008 2.0 Kia Sportage? It has a P0133 code, slow response from upstream O2 sensors. Sensors are both new OEM, and we put in an aftermarket as a test, same code result.

There are several factors influencing the flow pressure of gasoline 1. Fuel pump 2. Gasoline filter inside the tank too 3. There is another filter inside the injection
