Reminded me of my old shop space where i shared three walls with rehearsal studios. Throughout the day i would listen to all styles from sickest electronica to gospel to doom to stoner etc. So i grew to appreciate the sound of a rockband "from behind the wall" which is what stoner rock is supposed to sound like.

Fu Manchu ROCKS, but m8 I wouldn't call them undisputed. As awesome as they are, they have serious competition... Truckfighters are the first band that comes to mind.

Saw Fu Manchu in 1995 supporting this album on their (I believe) first US tour opening up for Monster Magnet - what a bill! Caught them on the very first night of the tour at the old Fastlane in Asbury Park, NJ, and while I was a huge fan of both bands, on that night Fu Manchu blew everyone away. They opened with “Push Button Magic” and from there it was all a haze (for all the best reasons...)

Stoned out of my mind on Alien OG and listening to this for the first time. I made a good choice, man.

First heard this band in 99 and loved it ever since cheers

How have I never heard this before? Some of the best modern rock I've listened to in years. Off to add to the collection.

They needed two more albums to get more popular. "The Action Is Go" was more varied and accessible to more people. The song "Evil Eye" was featured in the video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and gained them more popularity.

@@thomascallahan9167 I see why they left. After "In Search Of" the song writing and sound changed quite a bit. Glass/Romano seemed to prefer the more psychedelic and fuzzy hard rock driven sound from "Daredevil" and "In Search Of" and wanted to expand on a more psychedelic direction that they ultimately went with Nebula. While Hill on the other hand wanted a more straight forward and "punkish" sound which was the case on "The Action is Go" and afterwards.

These two records are really similar in terms of the fuzz tone. All the other Fu albums vary in fuzz tones but these two records are the closest to each other. "In Search Of..." is slightly heavier though.

I hate the term "stoner rock". This is rock and roll, but if you want sub genres I'm okay with fuzz metal or something. I have no interest in drugs but this stuff is both awesome to listen to and play on guitar. Implying you need drugs as well to like it just cheapens it. It's like saying you have girlfriend who's prettiest when you're drunk.
