FS STL-10 Tornado Siren Test - Alert - Okauchee Lake (Waukesha Co.), WI
Ғылым және технология
For the final test of the day, Tony and I went to Okauchee Lake to record their STL-10. Before the test, there was a very friendly cat that hung out with us before the siren scared it away! She was very sweet and even let us pet her! So I included a photo of her in my slideshow. Enjoy!

Thank you for this great video of our siren. The town board voted to deactivate it in June 2021, and it was permanently disconnected in July 2021. It was deactivated due to inability to obtain parts and support for it. A replacement was considered cost prohibitive when most people get severe weather alerts from their cell phones now.
Cats + sirens, a legendary twofer! Awesome video!

Early access! Wow I got here because of the Wakesha Co. Playlist lmao
Awesome sounding STL-10A. At least WI is smart enough to keep their older Federal Signal sirens. Reminds me of the STL-10 that I used to hear at my local fire department, but unfortunately a Whelen replaced it in 2009. And from the "FS" logo it looks like it's from the late 1970's-early 1980's, because the name changed from Federal Sign & Signal Corporation to just Federal Signal Corporation in the mid-1970's.

Noice! Early access gang!
Wow! That motor is unusual for a STL-10.

The later 3-phase ones made by Federal Signal have the same motors used on the STH-10A. The Sign and Signal ones had either GE or Western Electric motors.
