I’m looking to buy one! I like that it’s Serato pro and rekordbox compatible. Was hoping for stand-alone with usb flash drive feature as well but I’m almost positive that’s impossible to get with this kind of price. Do you have a recommendation for a different controller that’s just as good as this but with a better build and in the same price range?

You are spot on, especially with your first three frustrations. I'm a newbie DJ and played my first public gig yesterday and the Tempo slider...🙄 You need to have the patience of five saints. I manage because it's my first controller and I have no comparison. The 400's design with the silver trim just looks sharper than the flx-4, which looks functional - but it does the job. People are impressed with it. What I find is that sometimes it sticks when using Rekordbox so I now plug out the lead and plug it back in as standard. Another great tutorial Karl. 👍🏽

Does the DDJ 400 or FLX-4 have a better sound card? I seen some comments on the interweb that the ddj 400 output slightly more louder which I find hard to believe considering the FLX-4 can have a dedicated power source

Same price point so I would say they will be comparable however the FLX-4 might have an updated version.

I own bought of it, it seems their sound card is not equal. However, I am unable to tell you which volume is louder at the moment.

@@c20h25n3o. No wonder it sounds great. BeforeI was using a NI S2 MK3 (dont buy it even if you are casual on FX usage, both fx wheels broke in one year use) and ended using it with an audio interface because built-in sound was terrible. So far i think im gonna keep using the built-in sound on the FLX4.

I don't mind the feel of the performance pads, but I would've loved RGB (although I understand it would inflate the cost). I like to use colour-coded hotcues to indicate bass drops, ideal start points, odd phrase start points etc. RGB is also useful for me to see when I'm in pad fx mode instead of hotcue mode (I've often jumped to a cue point instead of activating a delay :D). I also share your frustration with the short pitch slider. It's hard to make an accurate adjustment, even on 6% range. I tend to get it as close as I can and then double-tap the sync button to adjust the last fraction of a percent.

I have flx4 and 400 controller. I agree on the tempo slider and usb connector. My most frustration is its platter response time. However its a good entry level controller(s), but you will start realize that you need an upgrade.

I have never had an issue in the response time with the platter. This may be due to the latency settings?

Hello there. Just watched this and own one. I bought it last January and have basically [give or take a few days], used it every day for at least half hour. Couldn't agree more about the pitches. I have so much grief trying to get the speeds right, because there's nothing to them. It kinda forces one to have to sync, which I'm not particularly fussed about, being a DJ for over 20yrs myself. I really couldn't care if other DJs don't respect sync, or moan about it. It means nothing. Back on Technics/vinyl, mixers had about ten knobs in total and no such thing as looping, tagging, beat jumping, hot cueing etc. If sync is so bad, then why are these sync critics using the other stuff, yet not criticising themselves for 'making it easy' too? Sync is a tool, just like a hot cue. DJing is track selection and reading a crowd. Dancers don't care a jot about sync and neither should anyone else. 'Do what you feel and do it until the end'. Enigma.

You can change the range at which the tempo slider affects the track. Set it to wide and it should be much more manageable. I believe it's a combination of shift and one of the buttons near the top. (Not near my flx4 ATM)

@@TheTubejunky hey mate. For me, the problem is anything above plus ten. The pitch fader is more or less useless at wide. Sure, you can double click the BPM amount on each jog wheel within the software and type it in, but then like sync, it is circumventing using the pitch fader at all. Actually trying to get an accurate match above plus ten though for me, is difficult. 😑

3:50 is a bother but not actually a true problem as you can set the ramge at which the slider changes the tempo. You can set it to wide and it works perfectly for beat matching those different genres.

Yep - USB-C is not suitable for use in the back of equipment like this. Don't know what they were thinking. I've never seen a USB-B connector unplug or bend itself just from the weight of the cable. I've plugged in all sorts of audio since the 1970's btw - the goal used to be to make the best, most secure and reliable connector. USB-C is just too flimsy for applications like this.
