Fruit Review - Monstera Deliciosa (fail)

Fruit Review - Monstera Deliciosa (FAIL)
Amazing fruit native to South America. Grows on what many know as the monstera houseplant. Tastes like the tropics!! -coconut and pineapple!
Monstera deliciosa translates to delicious monster. When ripe it is delicious. Unripe, it feels like you are eating fiberglass insulation.
I believe mine was a bit unripe. Enjoy the video.

The peeling back isn't the only thing to look for in a ripening monstera fruit, the flesh needs to become much more colourful and soft. The skin can still peel back a lot from drying out or if the fruit was harvested WAY too early meaning that it will start peeling when still unripe. Make sure you get your fruit from peeps who harvested at the right time.

That fruit was mostly ripe. I don't think the black fiber parts are an issue to eat, sometimes maybe it stings slightly. I wouldn't of peeled off the top part that didn't fall off softly just in case. I don't really know for sure, I have no expertise!! Great video 💙

I'm bartender from Brazil and I love to eat Monstera fruit... For me, the flavor reminds me of banana and mango. There is one native fruit from BR called "Cajú" that have calcium oxalate too. Caju nuts are very very delicious, but it must be heated in the oven to lose the calcium oxalate. One time I eat natural cashews that were not cooked. The feeling is not good at all :)

Because the top you had to force off you are meant to flick it and if they fall off it’s ripe right there don’t pull it out because that what you did at the very top you ripped off it with force and some unripe part came off

Lmao this person is completely wrong. When the fruit ripens the oxalic acid full breaks down. If it’s burning or irritating your throat then it’s not ripe enough. The fruit ripens in stages.
