Amanda Ju - huh, it actually made me think, jeez, you lot are easily impressed by a few lighting effects! I don’t mean to take away from any enjoyment of the performance - it was obviously great - but the audience did seem primed to be easy to please! Having said that, the quick change from cloak to sparkly dress was certainly very cool! 😉

I was lucky enough to be in the audience that day and I'll tell you the TV directors asked that we all cheer for some of the smaller things for TV purposes. That said, I've seen the entire show several times now and there are moments the audience really does genuinely lose it because it's that fabulous, including like the last 30 seconds haha! If you aren't coming unglued by the end you're dead inside lol! A video will never capture just how truly beautiful it looks or how otherworldly Caissie Levy is. Damn can that girl sing.

Actually, that's the worst part. It's a little thing called theater etiquette - something that audiences these days are severely lacking. And it doesn't help that ABC and The View forced these people to react like this, so this basically tells people that it's okay to act like this when, in fact, it's not.

Ali Y while both shows are absolutely amazing and I won’t try to pin them against each other, it’s really unfair that people, said Frozen came out late for it to receive nominations but Mean Girls started performances after Frozen did. The outfits in Mean Girls are beautiful but not as jaw dropping like they are here. Both shows are great but Frozen had plenty more amazing technical stuff.

RockyHorror Gleek exactly! And I love Tina Fey and want that show to do well, but the characters are still in street clothes. Caissie wears a dress that took more than 40 hours and more than 18,00 hand stitched beads and that doesn't even address Sven. They were totally snubbed on costumes :(
@maxvalladolid8564

Ali Y completely agree! Every inch of the musical is beautiful! The characters in Mean Girls just wear more stylish high school esque clothing but it doesnt look like they had to make a lot of the clothing, especially for Jan amd Damien who legit just wear colorful street clothes. Every peice of fabric in Frozen is gorgeous. From The Coronation outfits, To their winter clothes, to Sven and Olaf, even the puppeteer for Olaf has an amazing outfit!

The belted note at the end in the original key is Eb that are woman who can belt up to soprano high C, it all depends on how you sing the song, pop singers like Ariana, Demi, can easily sing this, even Christina Aguilera could do it in her prime, for Beyoncé would also be easy, she sustain higher notes than this and can sing from the low tenor C to an E middle upper belt.
@mohammadfaizankhan4146

Real Voice the eb5 note originally is meant to be hit completely in chest register, that only few singers can do, most singers like beyonce,demi,ariana will mix their voice to hit that note.

here's a rough timing (on the assumption that they're using a silk pull), which I hope will help :) 2:47 Elsa moves upstage centre and sweeps the train of her dress behind her (standing upstage of the silk pull trap) 2:54 Elsa walks forwards, which results in the train of her dress falling directly behind her (she is walking over the silk pull trap. It is likely at this point that once her feet have cleared the trap, the trap will open and the stage hands will emerge to hook the dress up to the machine - this would be cued by the stage manager once Elsa is clear) 2:59 Elsa hits her mark. She will not move again until the dress has changed. 3:08 Both hands over chest. It's likely that she is using her hidden fingers to check that the magnets around her neck are ready to be released. 3:08 Elsa's arms go straight and behind her body. She is now in the right position to avoid damage to herself or the dress. 3:16 The silk pull starts. The dress splits at the neck first and down the centre. It also splits along the inside of her arms. This most is likely done with a series of magnets or by magnetic strips sewn in to the dress. Judging by close ups of the bodice, which give no indication of a join in the centre, the bodice most likely wraps around her torso and seals at her side (to better hide the magnetic 'seams'). 3:17 Elsa walks forwards and the lights flash, giving the crew a moment of 'safety' where the audience is too focused on Elsa and her new dress. This, combined with the existing smoke on the floor and the fact that Elsa is walking forwards directly in front of the trap, gives the stage team time to ensure the dress is fully clear before closing the trap. Assuming that the stage hands start to attach the costume from around 2:59 when Elsa hits her mark, this gives them a good 15 seconds to ensure that the train of the dress (and any other feasible points of contact) are hooked up to the machine. Hope this helps explain the (assumed) sequence! :)

There's a song that was added in the musical called "A Little Bit of You" where Elsa and Anna build a snowman when they're young, so that may have something to do with how Olaf came to be. I haven't seen the musical though, so I'm not certain about that. As for the crown, they just decided to make that different for Broadway. There could be a number of reasons for that change.

@aliy1349

RockyHorror Gleek exactly! And I love Tina Fey and want that show to do well, but the characters are still in street clothes. Caissie wears a dress that took more than 40 hours and more than 18,00 hand stitched beads and that doesn't even address Sven. They were totally snubbed on costumes :(
@maxvalladolid8564
6 жыл бұрын
Ali Y completely agree! Every inch of the musical is beautiful! The characters in Mean Girls just wear more stylish high school esque clothing but it doesnt look like they had to make a lot of the clothing, especially for Jan amd Damien who legit just wear colorful street clothes. Every peice of fabric in Frozen is gorgeous. From The Coronation outfits, To their winter clothes, to Sven and Olaf, even the puppeteer for Olaf has an amazing outfit!
Props to the set designers and lighting crew; they really captured the magic and you can tell from the audiences “oohs” and “ahhhs”
I love this port of Frozen to Broadway. You can tell that they REALLY put all they got into this.The set designs, the costumes, the special effects; its all amazing. I honestly went into this with semi-low expectations, thinking it would be lazy, but this is spectacular. Deserved more nominations

Finally ! I found a perfect live enactment of Frozen "Let it go" No wonder it's called Broadway, that was amazing. The actress did brilliantly every single move was so in sync and meaningful and the set design was better than the disney shows ! the staircase, the perfect ice projected and everything was perfectly to beat. I didn't expect it to be this good and they NAILED the dress transformation too ! I was genuinely surprised. The musical artist was spot on with this, I am gonna go look up her name. This is my favourite Frozen live hands down. A few years back when I searched this, it wasn't there but now it is

@mohammadfaizankhan4146

Real Voice the eb5 note originally is meant to be hit completely in chest register, that only few singers can do, most singers like beyonce,demi,ariana will mix their voice to hit that note.

Is it weird that I like this version of Elsa's transformation better than in the actual movie? Maybe it's just seeing it happening to a real live person, and the way the production uses some seriously cool blocking and wirework and screen/lighting effects to make almost literal magic happen on a stage. So amazing!!
Elsa: Breathes Audience: WHOOOOOOOOO
I was by this show! It was so cool
When I saw this show live, I was so excited for this song because of the snow and dress change! I was so in love with the lighting in this song! As someone who does lighting for my amateur theatre club, since starting doing it, I have been fascinated with watching how the professionals do it, so I can get ideas for my own shows, since usually I get to design the lights, with some ideas by the directors with what they want.
Amazing performance. Cassie has a great voice and for me it exceeds the original version. My favourite bit is 03.28-03.36. All credit to the backstage guys for making this performance totally magical. I actually think the audience bring a further bit of magic to it.
People really underestimate how difficult that song is to do. And WOW she killed it!

here's a rough timing (on the assumption that they're using a silk pull), which I hope will help :) 2:47 Elsa moves upstage centre and sweeps the train of her dress behind her (standing upstage of the silk pull trap) 2:54 Elsa walks forwards, which results in the train of her dress falling directly behind her (she is walking over the silk pull trap.
