Great description of the witch school! The witch school is my favorite because of its spell selection and its alignment. I generally agree with using Brew Potion to get free money, but another reasonable selection is the Elixir of the Chameleon which would otherwise costs 400gc and has a very good effect. Unfortunately, I think the ingredient cost is too expensive to justify attempting a greater potion. A scroll of Brew Potion could guarantee it, but the cost is still too steep in my opinion. Anyway, I've been enjoying your videos! Keep it up.

Thanks! The Witch really does have a great set of spells and aligned schools - you could even take all Out of Game Witch spells and still build a solid Wizard with low casting number spells like Enchant Weapon, Bone Dart, and Leap. I hadn't really looked into the Elixir of the Chameleon before - that's actually a pretty solid potion for keeping your spellcasters safe, and that's a good deal if it saves you 400gc by just brewing it! I haven't ever tried to brew a greater potion because of the cost to do so.

Also worth noting Witch is the base class to work towards becoming a Beastmaster (lots of schools don't have anything like that as a progression goal)

I guess haven’t looked into the Beastmaster stuff. It would be cool if there was some sort of extra progression path for each school.

@@bricksblocksgaming8017 Witches get beastmaster, Necromancers get Lichdom, Summoners get the expanded demon summoning / pacting rules. I agree it would be nice for other schools to have deeper mysteries to delve into. Maybe an enchanter should be able to transfer himself into a golem body, or an elementalist could develop a speciality with a specific element that makes certain spells more effective (e..g fire for ball/bolt, earth for wall, etc.).

Another great video. I ran a witch in our last campaign, found them to be very versatile

Thanks! I agree about their versatility - some of the school kind of force you into certain builds and spell selections, but there’s definitely some viable options for how to make a Witch. I might run one when I start my 2nd Edition battle reports.

I love my witch. I love my mud. I love my fog. Witches are a solid option. (No bias at all) I didnt noticed some changes so Im glad you pointed them out! The new poison dart is awesome. I thought 1st edition was a nice spell but now it got better. I like versatile spells and this is quite versatile. At first I thought 1st edition curse is one of the greatest spells in game. Its the reason why I chose the witch in the first place. As you pointed out, it is not. Quite a terrible spell. But the new version is useable. At least to slow a spellcaster down or to weaken a scenario beast. I generally dislike brew potion. It feels cheap to use it. I dislike the other money spells too. Its okay considering the narrativ but I want to earn my gear/money in the ruins of Felstadt not in my cozy home.

They really are a solid school to choose. Any of their Spells would be good choices for a starting Witch. Even with Control Animal being kind of situational, it's probably the best of the Control "X" spells as there's a lot of animals that can wander onto the board. A lot of their spells are great as aligned and neutral spells as well as a lot of them have low casting numbers and their OoG spells are powerful. I've had a few moments with spells where I thought they were great and later realized I was quite wrong about them. 😂 You make a good point about Brew Potion and the money making spells. I think potions should have had their selling costs reduced (maybe to 30gc like scrolls?) and Magic Weapons/Armour you make should sell for cheaper as well - the shop keeper can tell they aren't ancient relics like you would find in the ruins, so purists aren't interested in them. The Witch also has good aligned schools as well. I didn't use them much in 1st Edition because Reveal Secret was one of my favorite spells and it's from the opposed school. With that spell getting weakened, I don't have it holding me back anymore.

I used to use brew potion as a spell I had found with one of my enchanters. I just used it for life potions so I felt better about crazy charges forward. Fog I have always found funny to think about since the time my bro in law used it in 1e to hide his injured guy carying a treasure from three rats that were chasing him while having pot shots taken at him by my ranger. I just imagined the poor dude running screaming with the treasure, and then sighing with releif as his boss created a fog within reach. The guy survived that battle, barely (rats were still random moving pretty close to his direction, making my bro in law nervous, and me laugh maniacly).

Thank you, I'm glad the video quality looks good! I record everything with my iPhone 8 and a $20 lapel mic. I use the LumaFusion app to edit, which allows me to do it all on my phone. It was $20 also. I create my thumbnails in it as well (it's not designed for that, but I set up the picture with the overlays and take a screen shot). The app probably isn't the best editing tool - sometimes it lags or kicks me out (I'm not sure if it's designed for long videos with lots of cuts, transitions, and overlays). It's super convenient though as it allows me to edit on breaks at work or whenever I randomly have time without needing to sit in front of my computer. Now you know my secrets!

@@terrainaholic I’ve actually never been to any gaming conventions. I considered trying to go to Gencon a few years ago but never did. Nice video! My biggest frustration with fog is how to represent it in game. If on the ground, that's easy, but what if it's 3 inches up in the air? I heard Joseph McCullough on the Paint All the Minis podcast say that he hoped the bear would be used a lot more because bears are cool.

Interesting fact: I just looked up Fog, Wall, and Bridge. All three spells place an object on the board. Bridge is the only one that specifies it doesn't need to be anchored to anything and that it can float. I've never tried to cast a Wall floating in the air because that just seems silly, but I've often cast Fog in the air... because it's fog. But the fact that only one of these spells took the time to state it could be cast completely disconnected from the table or terrain, seems to imply that both Wall and Fog cannot be cast in a manner that would make them float...
