    Other ideas (if you like crafting) -embroidered patches. You can just stitch the name on them, you can make a tiny one with just the favourite colour, you can (if you want to) make a huge one with the name, how the alter looks in the inner world and eventually the pronouns etc. -you could clip a little whiteboard (like 3x3 cm) or chalkboard to your shirt and then write the name of who's fronting on there

    We've seen that someone designed a pronoun pin with a rotating indicator for genderfluid people. something like that, but with names or colours, could work for smaller systems

    This fits into the jewelry-categorie, but I immediatly thought about chokers. They come in a variety of colors and some have those ... rings, were you could clip little name-charms on. I was like "we should do that!" until I realized that one of our alters hates if there's anything on her neck, she can't even wear scarves. :( Scarves though! If you're living somewhere where it's always cold that is. ^^ I also thought you could do something like: necklace for alter A, wristband for alter B, ring for alter C, ponytail for alter D and so on. Obviously, that would only work for smaller systems.

    We use a lanyard and name badge for fronting, of course we're out entirely, so it definately should be done with concideration for safety but we actually created little tabs to put behind the name sticking up from behind the holder that tells people if we are co-fronting. We created special tabs for our therapy program so the directors know if a little is fronting and if that little is alone or with a caretaker or protector. Also a tab for our non-verbal headmates so people can instantly see, "oh this alter needs to use the phone to speak." 🍀

    It's a little bittersweet watching this, we came out to someone who doesn't even notice it when one of us is speaking in a different accent... ;-_- so still getting over that... I might ask my roommates about the whiteboard thing, I hear that's a great way to communicate who's around, and they've been asking me to clarify I'm just never comfortable with coming right out and saying it - Cub

    Yeah I understand that! Our friends and partner still don’t catch noticeable switches all the time, thats why we use our clips :) for singlets it’s so far off their radar that they don’t know what to look for or how to recognize it, even if it’s super obvious to us!! I hope they get better at recognizing differences soon ❤️💕❤️

    This is bittersweet for me too, since I'm with an older gentleman who is a very covert system, and I'm a singleton. It has taken almost to years to get to the point of trust that we're at, and that's not saying much! I wish it was possible for an easy indicator in our situation, but will never be. I'm doing my best though!

    I thought of charms too! You could have a whole bracelet or keyring to keep them on (as I know they can get in the way or be a sensory issue for some) and wear a chain necklace to clip relevant charms to that indicates who is out. It might help those with amnesia to see who they have switched with and you could even have indicators to show if the people you're with know you're a system. I just thought this would be a good method as the act of swapping the charms can be quite subtly done, and give the person out front a moment to ground themselves and consider their surroundings while looking like they are just thinking. :)

  • @TheRingsSystem

    Yeah!! Charms are amazing :)

  • @StarCloudDreams
    @StarCloudDreams Жыл бұрын

    We thought of one today; we have a pretty big system (around 200) so having 200 different charms wouldn't really be the best option. So, we have a few different charms with pretty big difference so people can clearly see the difference. Then we have a necklace where we can hang them on. And the thing here is that they don't indicate who it is, but ''what'' the fronter is. For example, we have 3 heart-shaped charms with the colors yellow pink and blue, and if the fronter is male, they can pick the blue one (bc of steriotypes blue is often associated with boys so yea) same for the other ones with female-pink and 'nonbinary, xenogender, etc..'-yellow. Then we also have ones that tell if the fronter is a little or big and if they're animal-alters, nonhuman-alters or introjects. And we also have ones for ''interect with care'' and ''interact with caution''.

    Thank you so much! We’re a rather recently discovered (suspected OSDD-1b) system, and for some reason it is sooo hard to find fronting indicator ideas online, we love the little key ring idea as it will be subtle enough to not make our super shy alter anxious. The hair clips are also a fantastic idea! Another idea we had that is a little bit more fancy is snap jewelry, little bracelets or necklaces with interchangeable snaps to show who is fronting, you can also get some for multiple slots for several snaps, which can be great for showing co-con members!

    Just style of clothes can be a fronting indicator. I have seen this with other systems like TeamPiñata where one alter always wears glasses and plaid shirts, other always wears bandanas and dark clothes (and no glasses), etc. I don’t even need the subtitle about who is fronting: I recognize them just by how each one presents themselves. Of course, you would need to be in a safe place where you can present radically different “aesthetics” without confusing the people around you, LOL

  • @TheRingsSystem

    @TheRingsSystem

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yeah! That too. It's just hard because 1. you can't change clothes when you're out and about, and 2. It's a lot of work haha. It's why youtube is a lil weird in that way, recording is often like presenting yourselves a certain way, and just like you would brush your hair or do your makeup before recording, alters put on their favorite clothes :)

    We're thinking of making buttons! Although we're a fairly large system (around 30) and switch quite often with minimal dissociation, sometimes someone will front just to say one sentence and then leave again. So that could make things a bit difficult.

    Oh this is really neat! I was going to ask if there were more subtle ways to do this but the hair-ties one seems subtle enough. I'm not sure if this will ever be relevant for us because at least for now we're strictly unsafe (our family is horribly ableist so we cannot let them know about our system and we currently have no friends IRL that we can see often enough that are safe to tell unfortunately) but God thinking about a future where we're safe enough IRL for people to know and care about us all instead of just the host is so encouraging. I honestly just accepted my system after knowing for years and I really love the keyrings. We just bought a bunch and because we couldnt find enough variation in color and didnt want to deal with paint chipping we got a bunch of different colors or embroardery thread to wrap around the rings but leave the clasp available still for use. We plan on having all representation rings on at all times and using a chalkboard pendant to write the name of the person whos fronting and having a plain plate pendant to go next to it so that we can seperate those who are co fronting from those who are not. So we will have the name of the main person fronting and theyre ring in front of the pendant, co fronts rings behing that pendant but in front of the blank and everyone else behind that in order of whoever is closest observation wise. Im really excited to get it finished because then we will be able to accuratly show whos where with ease. Sometimes even we lose track of that so Im like extra excited. And we plan on being open with friends about whos actually out and ill probably just sent them a list on what means who soon. 😁😁😁

  • @BoogieBott
    @BoogieBott4 жыл бұрын

    We started doing this with our realizing in a way. As one alter always wears kitty ears, and one always prefers a hat, and a few are more prone to be out if I have my extensions or wig on. So in a way I used specific accessories with our realizing. But having one solid item to switch through that's discrete will be so helpful. My alters will still probably continue their specific accessories....but coming up with a method like these examples is super inspiring and honestly kinda necessary sometimes because it's crazy how people cant tell obvious differences, so this helps everyone. It helps with your own grounding and others to identify easily! Thank you soooooo much for this video!!@

    This is really useful and I like the hair clip idea, It's not very obvious, so that if there are people that don't know you're a system you can still wear them publically and stay incognito if you have to. that way people that do know you're a system will know. Currently our system doesn't have this, but the other alters don't front as often. but I certainly love this idea. It could help friends and even the system itself keep track of daily life. I want to invest in starting something like this.

Our system currently uses personalized rings for those of us who have partners in our partner system so we have matching rings but we are currently looking into either getting rings for everyone or something that appeals to everyone - we have a fictive who is the only one that wears a watch we were given, and another who wears a bracelet that we had from our teenage years. these have given us some other ideas of easy and cheap things to look into! Ook. If 13 peops is "small," we might take a while to learn to recognise every one here since we lack the amnesia barriers- at least, unless there's another poor subsystem hidden from us. Hopefully we can form those boundaries: some aspects have thoughts which are fine to remember but can squick out other aspects if experienced realtime, so being able to more comfortably be up at the same time would be great! Privacy might be desirable for some parts, too. In our case, fronting indicators might be useful for helping every one recognise every one else internally, not just outsiders.

    I wanted to be crafty and make something with those wooden letter tags from Michaels, but that didn’t give us the clean, clear look we were going for especially as we keep discovering new folks. I‘m thinking we‘re gonna spring for a pack of multicolored rubber wristbands on amazon, they‘re quite affordable and we found a set of 36 different colors. Another pro tip for systems a bit too big to all have different colors - you can each have a pair of colors, eg D wears a blue and a green band, L wears a blue and a black, etc. This rapidly increases the number of alters you can label even with only a few colors, and it retains the clarity that is lost if you are trying to distinguish two fairly-similar colors. You do lose the ability to show multiple fronters clearly, so take that into consideration.

So say if I was in front I could put a safety pin on the necklace with my favourite coloured beads on it and if I switched with someone else, they could swap it for a pin with their colour on it! Your videos have helped me a lot in understanding DID/OSDD. I do have a question though (idk if it's going to be worded very well tho). When you have an OSDD system, do you watch what happens and feel the different alters personalities through the body or, if you're the host, do you watch what happens through the body's eyes when you're fronting then when you switch it's like a blackout until you switch back in? I'm curious about this because from what I read, OSDD is like DID but with no amnesia so I'm curious as to how daily life looks like to the alters. I'm sorry if this is worded very badly

So at the beginning, when I was just getting to know the others, there was one called Jada...She didn't front that much because she was kind of annoying to people so she was either dormant or co-conscious with me (the host) or the others. After a while I noticed that she wouldn't talk as much anymore and she wouldn't stay in the front for too long and after a while she went completely silent. I'm kinda scared and confused because that's still how it is. Is that normal? Or can that happen to an alter?

    Do you always know who's fronting? And when you didn't have your inner world yet, where were the alters when someone else was fronting? And as you have OSDD-1b and don't have the amnesia, do you sometimes notice that you switched at some point but didn't realize it until a few minutes later?

    1. Not always! We actually have a grey clip for when we don't know who's fronting :) 2. Just kinda floating in the void 3. Yup!

    @@TheRingsSystem Hey, does that mean it's possible for someone to switch out but then not realise that they have straight away because they just weren't thinking about it? Sorry if it's a silly question, there's just so little info on OSDD-1b out there! xx

    @@mistfall5478 Yeah! This isn't something we experience nearly as often, and is usually accompanied by dissociation and blurryness, but it can happen :)

    @@TheRingsSystem Thanks so much for replying! I think I might have OSDD. Well, I know I have headmates but part of me just thinks I'm making it up, but this is one of the many things that makes me think I can't possibly have it so hearing that is helpful!

    I think for us specifying who is out woukd be really hard since we switch so often and rarely are ever fronting alone. So ive been thinking about making this snap button bracelet with specific indicators like child non human pronouns, needs help. Something a lot of us struggle with is our senses chsnging when we front or who we are fronting with. So indicators like that woukd help those around us, even if they dont know who specifucalkt, figure out whats appropriate.

    Fronting indicators are never a "need!" It's a fun thing to do if your system wants :)
