Here's a quick how-to guide to replace the wheel bearing, using my 97 Nissan Maxima. Now, the bearing press tool kit that I use is actually universal and works for Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Ford, GM, etc.
Tools that I used:
Bearing press kit: amzn.to/2Oz7j2j
28MM socket: amzn.to/2XYuiH0
Or 1 1/16 socket: amzn.to/2qZhwvJ
10" adjustable wrench: amzn.to/2DsD32F
Front Wheel bearing: amzn.to/33tGZLf
Another tool that you may need, which I didn't, is the slide hammer set: amzn.to/2rFAJm8

My 96 200SX had a bearing come apart like yours did. Thanks for the video.

Thank you!
my boyfriend's got a 1987 Maxima and had this exact issue, but because his car is so old we couldn't find ANYTHING telling us if that part is supposed to be there or not... until this video. thanks so much for making and sharing. especially that you had to cut it off!
Great job. Exactly what I have to do.

You're welcome, glad it was helpful!
Hey thank you for making this video! I have to replace my front passenger side wheel hub on my '99 Maxima and I thought it was going to be a nightmare job. I just ordered the kit you recommended! I'll let you know how it turns out :)

I can't wait to hear how it goes! Using that press kit was definitely way easier than other methods i've tried before. Just be sure to use hand tools, as power tools and impact wrenches can strip and grind the washers and nuts

Hector T Talks Thanks or the advice! I personally do not own any power tools lol :D Someday I’ll get a fancy garage and all the air tools I could ever want! I’ve been pleasantly surprised by what I can get done with hand tools.

@@christophershrout2367 Indeed! I don't have any air tools either, just an electric impact gun and do most jobs with just hand tools

@@HectorTTalks Hey did you have snap rings in your spindle in front of and behind the bearing? It looks like my '99 has 2 snap rings that I didn't notice... Prevented me from pulling the inner race of the bearing and bent some of the big washers... I didn't notice until I pulled the whole knuckle off! I'm wondering if the '97 and the '99 are just a little bit different :)

Replying to myself: They definitely all have snap rings, I was just moving too fast :P Thanks for the video though! I've definitely learned a lot in this whole thing lol
Good job, kid.

Thank you!
So how did you get the axle out?
when you change a bearing is it best to change it on each side? like both front wheels? your video made my task seem less daunting and I appreciate that. I have the same car and my bearing has been yelling at me a while.

Even though in the video I only changed the driver side, off camera I did do the other side as well, so I would recommend changing both. I always recommend to replace parts in pairs( when there's 2 of the same part like the front struts together, front ball bearings, rear control arms, etc) just so that they are worn evenly together.
Great video maand im no expert but i have found when removing the axle nut its easiest to break it free while the car is on the ground still[same time i break the lugs free] then its easier when the whole thing is in the air like that. Again thanks for the video just one guy to another its much easier if its on the ground still

Very true, it's definitely much easier when it's on the ground lol.
Just informing cuz u might want to teach ppl the difference
I think you used the bearing tool backwards but it works all the same.
Not all master bearing n hub installer kits have them numbered... some r letters
Holy crap, so the axle nut was the only thing holding that wheel on the car. The hub just fell out on its own.

Yeah, i'm not entirely sure when it broke and how long it was holding like that but, that's why i tightened the axle nut super tight with my impact gun just to hold it long enough to fix it. I was just about as shocked as you lol
My hub is stuck on. It's loose like yours but it won't come off. Any suggestions

Since I was able to pull mine off, I would suggest using a soft mallet to hit it loose until it falls off
Done subscribe... Bro, i have a32 cefiro 1997.. and i think, I want to change all wheel bearings from 5x114.3 to 5x120.. what kind of wheels bearing should i use...?
@HectorTTalks

Not really sure, I don't do modifications, just maintenance and replacements.
You didnt say anything about removing shaft. Why?
Did this car have any wheel seals?
@HectorTTalks

This one didn't and didn't need any with the bearing that was used
Is it the same for the rear?
@HectorTTalks
2 жыл бұрын
It's been a few years since I had this car to work on it but I believe the rear has a full hub-bearing assembly that you have to replace instead of just replacing the bearing like the front wheel.
Is this the same for a 99 Quest?

You might need to use a different size hub or plate disc for the press but same basic principal
@HectorTTalks

I did forget to mention though that the press kit that i have in the video is a universal sized one meaning that it does have different sizes for the plates and discs which i do have a link in the description if you need to order one
What Bearing Brand?

No idea, it was an aftermarket bearing
Axle would’ve been helpful
Y not show all the work ...that was stupid
