Front Load Washer Off balance Spider Arm & Filter Quick Test off balance Unbalanced codes

In this video I go over how to check a front load washer for a broken spider arm quickly. Sometimes even after you test it this way it will still just barely be broken and will have to go through part of a load before you’ll realize it’s actually broken. A common symptom of this problem is off balance codes being thrown. Other things to check for a quick check before you move on to another machine is the filter. In the appliance repair business it’s important to not waste time on something that will not make you the money equal to the time you were investing in the machine. If you can fix several easy to fix machines and make $1000 why would you spend the same amount of time to possibly make $200 on a front load washer. You have to weigh out the time versus money in these type of machines. There’s other ways to make money with these machines. Sell the parts on eBay or just pull off as many parts as you think you may need a lighter and scrap the machine and Call it a day.

    Yeah, at least he saves some time. What brand and year front loader do you have? I’m going to make a video soon on this problem. it’s a absolute scam that the appliance manufacturers are making these machines to fail.

    Found a little piece of dark Grey plastic in my filter cylinder. It could have been from a pocket. Our machine completes wash cycles on lite - moderate loads, but towels cause it to fail as it tries to spin/initial balance a heavy or full load. Wondering if it's possible one fin of the pump impeller broke off allowing it to work on lower water volumes, but not the towels? Fails on %30 of washes. Recalibrated it, replaced the shocks. No error codes ever show. Perplexing

    Does shock failure often contribute to the "stuck in rinse/no spin" error, and is it worth replacing the shocks first?

    Hi. Thanks for the video. Question: I have a Bosch Next. Cold and hot water inlets easy fix. Now it seems I’m having an issue with (2-shocks??) vibration issue. 2 top springs are intact, noise when you move whole basket, up down side to side. Took too cover off. Cannot see down the right side where noise seems to be coming from. Washer works still so far. Can you show me one of your front loaders with 1-2 shock issues possibly. Any help/advice appreciated. The item that scares me the most is that big round spring that holds that big gasket (Seal) between basket and door. Can you show us the removal “AND” the install on that also. If I was confident in taking that off and putting it back on I think I could get to shocks. Thanks a lot. I’m subscribing now. Mike i.

    I don’t have any of those type of front loaders around to do a video on. One front loader to another can be drastically different on how they disassemble and what the cost of the parts would be. Usually if there is a suspension problem it will be with the dampeners at the bottom of the washer holding the drum. The top is usually just springs that don’t wear out very often. dampeners look like miniature versions of car shocks. I have opened some front loaders before and everything is fine except for something has just shaken loose like the pin that keeps the dampener shock in place.

    Hi. I read that laundry or something can be caught below the tub or between the agitator and the inner tub. I have an LG front load that goes off balance every time anymore. Do you have a video showing how to check for something stuck??

  • @WasherDryerMoney

    @WasherDryerMoney

    Socks getting stuck between the outer tub and inner tub is more of a problem for topload washers. It’s more than likely my wife the problem I described in this video or the dampeners. The dampeners are like little sharks that keep it from getting too far off balance.

    I got this front loader Maytag 3000. Needed the door seal and replaced it. The thing ran ( right, it ran) very well. Sat for a week and today I was ready to sell it to this lady and what happened? It didn't start. When I push the power button, all I hear is the sound of the button being pushed and that is it. No lights on the panel come on. Yea.. now what? So looks like the button gets power....and that is as far as it goes. I checked the wires to the control panel and another one to the motor feed unplugging and plugging and nothing. Whatever........is all I have to say to this. Ideas is what I need right now. Somehow I don't think there are any fuses unless there is one...Isn't there one on the computer board where the power gets stepped down?

    A lot of times they’ll just be starting to break loose. And the only wiggle when you pull on one spot. If it wiggles all the way around that means all three arms of the spider arm have broken. That’s just the horrible design flaw in some of these front load washers. I have heard they are using Apoxsee to make some of these spider arms on the new machines. I’m not sure which ones. You want to avoid the ones that have aluminum spider arms. And no matter what machine you get be sure to get the longest warranty you can. These new machines are not built like the old ones.

    That boot rubber thing behind the door are not cheap. Worse yet I got one of these front loaders the other day only to realize that the rubber thing on it was the wrong size just sitting there. No wonder they couldn't install it. Now, I ordered the right one from eBay for less than $30 but what am I going to do with finding the two clamps. They don't really sell clamps for these things I noticed.
