I have a 17 yr old granddaughter and she’s starving when she first gets out of bed!! I’m 58 and I don’t really remember how my appetite was at that age but I don’t ever remember being hungry in the mornings. I’m a breakfast for supper type of chick😂

My plant based protein bars- Base: 2C oats (I use old fashioned) 1 C peanut butter 1/2 C honey 1 scoop vanilla protein powder I add mini chocolate chips to mine and a shake of chia seeds. You can add in just about anything! I love these while nursing, the oats and protein and fat kept the hanger away. I also like doing the mini freeze dried tiny marshmallows to make like a s'mores bar. I press mine into an 8x8 pan and cut 5x5. Kid approved!

I have never, in my 69+ years of life, ever trained for, nor run any kind of marathon. I have a sister who is 4 years older than me, who runs marathons all the time. She says that running keeps the crazies away. I think she runs about 1000 miles a month. I need to get moving. Oh, but I do walk!

No training for me, but I love meal prepping like this because when my athletic girls(4 of them) come home from practice, etc) they are all starving. So it’s like what can I give them that’s quick and filling and not junk. Even if it’s something that I have to reheat, I can do that while they shower. Also, great to pack a big cooler for a soccer tournament day as well. Much healthier and cheaper than hitting up the snack stands or food trucks. At least for the whole day. 😉

My husband put a can of veg soup in the blender one time! Good luckvto your son!for the chia pudding, if you put seeds in the blender with the liquid it ends up smoother if your preference.

😂😂 I love the low sugar pectin ! We used to have all kinds of fruit trees, plums, peaches, apples, pears, apricot, grapes, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries!! I would use 2 to 2- 1/2 cups of sugar per batch and it was plenty!! Our 3 yr old grandson would eat it out of the jar and it tastes more like the fruit than the sugar! I didn't crush the fruit, left it whole. Yum, so easy!!!😍😍😍

I used to bicycle a lot and would take 3-5 week vacations bike camping. What I found was adding a fourth full meal to my routine worked and was easy to cut after the trip. What we'd usually do is get up have tea and something cold as we were packing up the camp. Then ride for a couple of hours and stop for breakfast because it was nice to sit down and have a hot breakfast and there are always specials.

Great Video 😍 I'm a 60 y/o and I cycle 200 miles a week regularly from April to November!LOL (usually in 3 rides of 70 to 80 to miles each) It has taken many years to dial in the nutrition - my food of choice during rides are Medjool dates and during the midway break on these rides I eat a Japanese sweet potato as well as drink plenty of water with electrolytes. Depending on the intensity, I will eat more of less of the dates. When I get home from these rides I will have a shower and a small meal with a protein and water shake then about 2 hours later I will have a larger meal. I have tried gels and bars and chews but they upset my stomach and the real food works well for me. Sometimes the day after the ride I will notice an increase in hunger.

Hiking and camping hunger is real. I used to work with kids in the woods 7 on 7 off...if I worked extra on my week off I wouldn't see the inside of a building for 21 days. It's really hard to consume enough calories when you are living outdoors if you're even slightly uncomfortable. You spend all your nutrition trying to regulate your temperature and stay hydrated. It was not uncommon for me to squirrel away in my hammock after the days hike with my food bag and just shove food in until I fell asleep. Meal bars, granola, candy, jerky...all the salt, fat and sugar I could find before dinner. (Then dinner) And when I was on the way home from a week of that I would stop at the first gas station and buy a pound of lunch meat, eat it while driving home. And then order a pizza. Times have changed and I can't eat like that anymore but it was fun while it lasted. hahahh! I don't know if I have commented before, Christine, but Ioooooove your videos. My fav are the pantry cooking, cleaning it out style meal preps etc. that is exactly how I cook and I'm getting better at managing food waste for watching you but also just for fun. I work nights now, with a lot of down time. Your longer videos help me pace the night's activities. I know the beignet video by heart, I know most of the pantry cooking videos pretty well. Hahah love the way you scream at your food processor. And let's get you a shirt that says...."it'll be fine". Also hats off to us who know a little something about HEB. Woohoo! I hope your kiddo is doing well with his wisdom teeth. He will be ready for something crunchy in a few days. How's Haley?

I make many protein bars with plant based vanilla protein powder for my son. I get the Vega brand from Target. We don’t use rolled oats but oat flour with peanut butter, honey/syrup, coconut oil, vanilla and some mini choc chips. It has a very similar texture to a perfect bar. He has chosen to be a vegetarian so it’s been a fun challenge finding ways to add more protein to things.

Protein bars sound good. May try them. Even though they are high calorie it would help me when I'm working court and may not be able to eat lunch until 130 or 2pm. Because sometimes breakfast doesn't last. Breakfast bowls sound good too

Always buy your honey local! From the source is best. If you have to melt it, you know it's real and hasn't had water or corn syrup added. I buy 12 lb buckets from my local people at the roadside stand.

And so, I learned a new word today. The *heel* of a (loaf of) bread. Never knew that, having lived in Northern America for a couple of years. :) In Swedish we call it 'skalk' , and yes, it is the best (depending on the bread, of course).

I meal prep too because with 4 little kids in my house, I absolutely need it. When I come home from the gym, I’m usually so ready to eat but will get distracted and only make food for the kids. By the time I realized I haven’t eaten yet, it’s 4pm and then I’m eating only 1 meal.

I've been doing long gym sessions once a week (3+ hours) for weight loss, and the hunger kicks in on those days, along with the extreme sleepiness. I did a long session yesterday (incline walking, followed by 2 hour long water classes- aerobics and pilates). I left wanting all of the things shoved in my mouth. I'm hoping that when school resumes next month and I have 5 days free every week that I can bump up to at least 3 days of 3+ hour sessions with a mix of endurance, aqua, and resistance/weight training.

I just skim the foam off my jam before I jar it. I don’t water bath my jam. My great grandmother taught me to use food grade paraffin wax that you get at the grocery store. Melt it and pour about a quarter inch on top of your cooled jam. Let set, lid them and they are sealed. My jam will last about 4 years.

I don't can, but my mom did when I was growing up. I seem to remember her scooping the foam off and setting it aside for us to spread on our toast. It was a special treat that lasted a day or two.

My grandma did that to make plum jam without pectin. You cook it for i think 2 to 3 hours with only plum and sugar, probably 1:1 ratio and remove the foam. Only works with fruits with enough pectin and while it works I wouldn't do that anymore today.
