Awesome tank; thanks for sharing! You said the asterina starfish were a huge pest problem. What didn’t you like about them? Did they take out any corals? I’ve heard people recommend them as a great part of the CUC, and that if a few start going for a coral it’s easy to remove just that group of asterinas and then the coral is fine.

Thanks, I was really happy at first as I said in the video but soon I had just too many of them. They were going over my zoas and they killed almost all of my zoas. This was a long process and even today I have quite a few asterinas in the tank but its still ok. I know that it will come the time where I will have to get harlequine shrimp again. Overall it is like with everything else, if its too much or too many it stops being funny ;) I made video of them kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZp-qsezhcippco.html

Well done! I’m going through problem after problem with my tank as well. I’m about a year into it and now am dealing with diatoms after a battle with Dino’s and green hair algae. The problems just never end! Glad to hear you got through it and the tank is doing great! With the calcium reactor, what is your ph of the display?

It was a crazy time but it was worth the wait. My KH on avarage is 8.5. I have been using TRITON for just over the year but I found calcium reactor much more convinient. My calcium reactor doesn't display Ph. I think the way they design this particular calcium reactor is much simplier than others and it works as good as the rest at least in my tank.

@@aquariummtp3442 good to know. I have a calcium reactor that I have not set back up due to the fact that it will lower the ph in my display that already runs on the lower end. I’m considering putting the reactor back on the tank. They’re super easy!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! however they do over heat. I was lucky that a few of my friends burned them before me so when I checked the temp above them it was getting over 40 deg C. I had to put a dedicated air conditioning for them LOL but its worth when you have 5 of them. So far from the moment I turned them on I havn't done anything with them.

ventilation' is a MUST. Once you built it I suggest to monitor it for a few days to see what temperature you are getting. Try to be as close to ambient as possible (assuming your ambient is around 20 deg C.@@951000jerome

That’s true. I can’t complain about Orphec but my refugium lights (Kessil 380) cost me each £350 and they lasted about 2 years. I think that’s just wrong. I tried different cheaper light and they don’t give the same result so I now got Kessil ) 360 hoping it will last longer than 2 years

@@aquariummtp3442 iv had radion that kept failing due to build quality. Imagine moisture getting into a units above a source moisture. Then other faults and they wanted more then the cost of the unit to repair it. More and more dropping the led scam branda. The chinease black boxes are better value or stick with t5s

@@aquariummtp3442 I had Radions g4 super at first, open top tank but somehow a tiny bit of moisture (imagine moisture over an aquarium) caused it to Malfunction well so their engineers say after having to send a light that was 12mths old off for 2 weeks to be looked at. Thank god I had old t5 unit to give my coral light. They wanted me to pay half the price of a new light to repair it. Told them to where to go and binned it, a month later my other one went, told same bullshit and this time the cost to repair, ship etc was almost the cost of buying a new one. Binned that as well and went back to black box chinease lights 4 years later no issues. ECOTECH are rip off artists. Designing faulty products not up to the requirements with the plan to rip off for repair or sell replacement units. They are not quality at all. The longer I in this hobby, the more I hear about them and I will not buy from them no matter how many youtubers the pay to say how great they are.

@@aquariummtp3442 I had 2 brand new Radions g4, one after 12mths months just stopped working in my open top tank. I had to send their faulty unit to them (at my own cost) so their engineer could check and make up an excuse. Thank god I had my old t5 unit so my coral had light as it took over 2 weeks for them to give me a report (not repair it, a report) and they claim a tiny bit of moisture got into the unit and wanted to charge me half the price of a new light to get mine repaired. I told them no thanks and binned it. Imagine selling a ridiculously expensive product that is used around moisture but is not protected from it (joke, not fit for purpose) Then a month later my other light failed. My LFS covered the postage this time as they were curious to see Ecotechs response as they have concerns about them. low and behold same bullshit but this time wanted €50 less then a new light to repair it. I binned that and bought Chinese black box lights for a fraction of the cost and 4 years later no issue at all. The longer I'm the hobby (20 years now) the more I hear bad things about this company and others. Their product design and business plan is make them cheap, sell them at their made up premium price and charge ridiculous repair costs hoping customers are held to ransom as their aquarium needs their light back quick or 1000s of €$ of coral die. No matter how many youtubers they sponsor to say how good they are, the truth is they are not very good for the prices they charge.

I disagree 💯 about them being expensive Ive got two ai hydra 26s cost me 600 aud each Ive had them for 6 years and they are going strong. A 4 foot t5 fixture would cost me around 400 After putting 6-8 bulbs in there your looking at another 200 And you have to swap out the bulbs every two years

I will take this as compliment as I did in fact grow them from the frag. I will check other footage I have if I have them from the very little ones. I am particularly proud of Digitata SPS as I used to buy their frags 5 or 6 times paying around £15 - £20 each and every time they died. Everything in my tank started to grow after 1,5 years. It was like a magic wand did its thing 😊 but on the serious note something happened around that period that everything became much easier. Also I have to say that I do the water test just once per two weeks and water change (around 10%) also once per two weeks.
