After searching for some other income to support him when his career finally ended, Mikey conveniently stumbled upon real estate-and the rest is history.
Since ending his skateboarding career, Mikey has built a brewery, invested in multiple BIG multifamily deals, and started buying the “cash machine” properties so many investors WISH they could get their hands on. Don't be scared of risk. Quantify risk! That was my biggest takeaway from this episode!

Mikey, your story is amazing! I understand the importance of being yourself. I also think it's cool how real estate gave you a sense of security during your skateboarding days. Starting a brewery with limited experience and raising $2.5 million is impressive, and it shows that having the right team and advisors is essential.
Going to be rewatching all his old transworld skateboard clips after this

This was a great interview! I'd heard of Mike Taylor, but I was well beyond the skateboarding scene when he came along. So I'm really impressed by his story and his path to success. He's really learned a lot and his fluency and understanding of running these businesses is outstanding. I'm a small developer who also never got my college degree but used real estate, and a supportive wife, to gain some success. This talk was perfect for mid-journey entrepreneurs more than beginners in business and real estate investing. I'm inspired to continue learning and growing like Mike. (I've also contemplated running for city council!)
