@@luvley.cloudsbecause near shouldn't have had the information to figure out that light was Kira. she had information that only the audience had until she was introduced. L had reasons to know and suspect who he thought was kira, but Near didn't, even if she had L's investigations to use.

Naomi solved the Los Angeles BB murder case she definitely deserves more credit for her work not only that she was almost the reason light was caught.

Even if she didnt think light was Kira she had no reason to tell him everything she knew. As far as she knew he was just some high schooler who could and would probably tell this to all of his classmates and ruining any advantage she had over Kira. If she did suspect he was kira then she just gave him a reason to kill her which is even worse.

No way Near is smarter than Light and Mellow, if Mellow wouldn’t have made that move,Mikami would have never made that mistake writing Takada’s name and Near would have died. So all the credit goes to Mellow and he knew he was going to die, so that it could be easier for Near to capture Light, and plus Near didn’t deduce the fact of a fake notebook

No, Light losing is his fault. When Mello kidnapped Takada, both Light and Mikami knew Takada had to die, but Light told MIkami that he couldn't act as Kira, so MIkami had to go kill Takada himself. But since Light never told Mikami that he had a piece of the death note, Mikami was under the impression set by Light that Light could not commit killings as kira, and so Mikami acted accordingly.

It looks like Light couldn’t hide in the darkness for long this led to him taking a massive 𝐋 as the end was 𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫 for him.

Light >>> Near Near only won because Mello helped him. It's Mello + Near >= Light (said by Near himself that alone he would've lost again Light as he was actually totally moving in Light's palm). Mikami was stupid enough to get the whole ass notebook just to write one name. He could've kept a page for insurance like Light so Light only lost because of Mikami's mess up. Even then it's super unrealistic to copy the entire Death Note in one night. The fastest w.p.m speed is 30 words/min. He had to write about 500k words in the Death Note with perfect copy paste handwriting and make the pages similar to the original Death Note. He had less than 20hrs to do it. This means a total of 1800 words/min at the fastest speed and 36k words in one night. He would need to write 450 word/min just to reach the deadline

when I watched episode 25 Silence I think I was emotional af because L was my favorite character...

The fact that Ray shows his identity card while investigating on a serial killer who needs the name and the face of the person to proceed. Also he showed that to prove he’s not a partner in crime to… a teenager? Naomi Misora who casually proceed to tell everything to a teenager? Instead of just talking to L directly. Light guessing out of nowhere that Ray was investigating on him and telling this to L. Everyone in the police ignore the fact that the 13 days rule was added and ignore L’s suspicions about Light and Misa. Naming Light the successor of L, knowing that he was the first suspect. L casually deleting all the datas of the Kira case, why??! Light’s whole plan with the Yotsuba shit was hazardous : he was really expecting that they would catch the new owner of the Death Note without any risks of him dying, while Light would have the Death Note in his hands, kill Higushi with it and still have it in his hands : all of this happens because L chose to be stupid on the right time. Also nobody’s not noticing the strange death of Higushi and who’s the person who has the book at that time. Light controlling the US president but just sends.. Demegawa and his weird sect to besiege Near?? Light controlling the US president and potentially his military forces but just shows up with Mikami in the end.. Anyway, I can cite so many others..

It's not even Mikami mistake that Light loose, at least not just it. Near said by himself that he wouldn't win Light alone, but if he will work with Mello he would get a lot higher chances. So Light is smarter than Near, it's just his ego and understimating opponents and overstimating Mikami. Also i think Naomi Misora is smarter than other FBI agents. She resisted Light's manipulations the longest and was the most biggest threat to Light asides of course, L, Mello and Near. And she is one of the most trusted L's agents and helped solve previous cases. So she is at Mikami to Watari level. FBI agents was smart, but not at Naomi level, just did their job perfectly and listened to commands.

Aizawa should get more credit, he actually saw through lights deception with the notes and turning off the bugs when everyone else was oblivious. He was very smart

Dunno man. He was walking by Naomi and Light just when Light was writing down her name in the Death Note and he even recognized him as Light Yagami, so Kira couldve been caught in that scene.

For those saying "but Light defeated L" remember that L, using only his brain successfully found his enemy, who was literally using a magical notebook aswell consultation with Gods.

exactly! Light had the advantage the whole anime and he was a trickster, he basically only managed to be free for so long because he had the death note advantage, manipulated everyone to get what he wanted and the task force didn't listen to L. but, even so, L managed to figure out almost everything himself, when he had almost no clues.

I personally believe the only reason he made it to the end because he didn't necessarily step on anyone's toes and for plot and his belief of good and evil could've went elsewhere

Mikami likewise has no reasoning showcases(In fact besides the data books hyping up his stats, he’s quite stupid.) that surpass Naomi in the BB murder cases or her singular deduction in the OG show. You can MAYBE make a case for Mello.

I would say Near the highest IQ in the series. Let us not forget that he is 13 years old, while L was like 25 when he died, and Light was 23 when he got caught. L had experience and took major risks, while Near kept himself safe. I don't think Light is even smarter than Melo tbh. He had a fucking death note. You don't get more advantageous than that, and he still got caught.

@Leyla Baghirova I looked up Nears's age, and you're right, my bad, but he still is much younger than L. The IQ part could be up for discussion, but L did not pave the way for Near. Remember, Watari was ordered by L to delete all the collected data on the Kira investigation if something were to happen, which he did when he was dying. Near, Mello, along with SPK, started from scratch.

My list: 1. Shinigami king 2. L (had nothing to work with yet gave so much for mello, near and the other detectives to work with) 3. Light Yagami (able to manipulate everyone to his advantage) 4. Naomi (figured out Kira could kill in multiple ways despite being a retired detective and helped L on the bb murder case) 5. Near (only found light because of the help of others) 6. Mello 7. I feel like L should have the top spot because he had the foresight to predict his own death and what would most likely happen hence that’s why he and watari set up Wammy’s house. so just in case he died he could in effect, pass what he knew to near.

Misa is a funny one to me, she started out scheming, intelligent, creative and all. Then as soon as she meets light, all of her intelligence is flushed down the toilet and most of her lines are substituted with “I love light-Sama this” “light-sama is my knight in shining armour”, “I would do anything for Kira”… like genuinely one of the only improvements the anime could’ve made would be making her lights equal in terms of intelligence. Imagine 36 episodes of L trying to catch 2 equally smart kiras, and they wouldn’t even have to do the near and mellow bullshit, and really unsatisfying bullshit plan.

Don't act like L's death happened because they dumbed down Misa. Basically you're saying that the only thing wrong about this anime is that Misa isn't Light's equal. Why can there be animes about women but not about men? Misa just gave half her life for a superpower, that already build her character. Don't get me wrong but i miss when shows used to be sometimes about men, not all the time, but now everybody wants a black transgender, smart, funny, having her own house, business woman that fights crimes while being wanted by 5 different men that simp for her

In my comment I was referring to the first few episodes she’s in, where she takes out police officers, codes a message for light to find, figures out his name, and puts together a fairly good plan for a tv hoax. I’m not saying she was crazy smart, I’m talking about her scheming and cunning, it seems to just entirely go out the window as soon as she met light. I remember when I was a kid and first saw her say “I’m still more powerful than he is, because I have the eyes”, I just wish theyd continued developing that side of her. Making Misa an unreliable variable to light, and more of a character in her own right isn’t me doing some “oh diversity and inclusion in media” thing so stop bringing your politics into it.

At first I thought that almost everyone supports kira. But there are most of L's supporters. For me, i wanted kira to win no matter what.

I feel like Misa is smarter then she appears on the surface, from avoiding surveillance in the beginning in a way that even stumped L to sneaking out of the bathroom using a decoy to prove that Kyosuke is the new Keira she clearly has some intelligence. there’s a tragic underlying aspect to misa being a hopeless romantic that puts so much faith in someone she knows deep down is just using her.

I like how they never let on how smart/dumb Ryuuk is. You can’t place him.

Matsuda is actually alot smarter than he puts off- things have shown that matsuda is just under pressure alot and his character "melts" when hes under pressure. What this means is that basically, he forgets alot and doesn't know how to say things so they will come off wrong when pressure sets in.

Naomi Misora literally caught Light in ep 5 or something & Light is definitely smarter than Near.

Misa should be higher, even light couldn’t stop thinking that she would be big trouble if she wasent so obsess with him even L acknowledge that the person that made the tapes was smart.

L was definetly smarter than Light Light just had the advantage of L being unknown about deathnote and it's rules.... But L was smart enough to get Kira almost caught....

Near is basically the temu version of L 💀

15:15 it depends on the narrative, for dragon ball it doesn’t make sense for 2 main villains because goku has to be the messiah to saves everyone by the end of the day and fate tells the rest of that if goku wins or loses But it’s not always like that for other shows like for example bleach where the hueco mundo arc shares grimmjow and ulquiorra as the main antagonist but they both have to fight ichigo not side characters and the narrative still fits
