Synopsis: At an Army barracks in Hawaii in the days preceding the attack on Pearl Harbor, lone-wolf soldier and boxing champion "Prew" Prewitt (Montgomery Clift) refuses to box, preferring to play the bugle instead. Hard-hearted Capt. Holmes (Philip Ober) subjects Prew to a grueling series of punishments while, unknown to Holmes, the gruff but fair Sgt. Warden (Burt Lancaster) engages in a clandestine affair with the captain's mistreated wife (Deborah Kerr).

MONTGOMERY CLIFT METHOD ACTING AT ITS FINEST
This is a remarkable and powerful movie with A-lister American actors of that generation.

Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr were having a love affair at the time, hence why that shore sequence was so steamy for that era. This was also the film where Frank Sinatra proved what a good actor he was.

It seemed like every movie from this time said some variation of "this film is one of those rare motion pictures that can be called great". Well if that's true then then it's not that rare lol.

The ‘50s may have produced some great movies, but the trailers were awful.
