You Need to Watch These Baby Wrens Grow Up! (5 Weeks in 15 Minutes)

Last spring a family of House Wrens nested in our Green-backyard WiFi Bird box. Here is a time-lapse from the first egg to all 7 babies hatching and leaving the nest. It's about 5 weeks edited down to about 15 minutes.
Here's a video documenting their nest building process: • Empty Nest to First Eg...

What a fun video. it's interesting that most of the chicks left the nest under cover of darkness. I once happened upon a nest just as the Bewick's Wren babies were leaving. I didn't document it, but since I usually walk through the woods in the afternoon, I'm sure it was daytime. Some chicks appeared in the door and immediately took the leap. Others considered their options for a moment then took off. A couple stood in the doorway so long that a sibling still inside just pushed its way past the bird obstructing its path to freedom. It was an observation I will never forget.

Yeah it is interesting. I was really hoping to watch them leave but one day I checked the camera feed and they were all gone :/

I also have to wonder how they know, or if they they know they're feeding them equally?

I'm still wondering where the dads go while Mom is brooding. Like where do the males sleep at night and all that?

That’s a good question. I’m assuming just in a tree somewhere or under a covered area

Being a mama bird is a thankless job. Feed me now and clean up my poop and then do it all over again and again and again for days and days
