My snaps were also greatly improved when I made a conscious motion to look towards the beach as I rotated at the top of the snap. I kept looking at my spray as opposed to the beach, and thus did not rotate the entire way. Makes the snap much more powerful

Never look at your spray. Legend has it that in biblical times a dude looked at his spray while surfing and it turned him to stone

The orientation of the hands, where you look, and don’t run from the lip. Got it. Thank guys, y’all are the best.

Interesting… can I suggest insiders august monthly challenge - frontside snap? Be also keen to see how to train for this in a surf skate ramp setting… as you said, easy enough to do these on the flat.. but how do you convert it into a bowl?

Bend your knees and look to where you want to go. Board will follow.

So, can we say that a snap it's a top turn with back foot pressure? I assume that Morgan could have simply done a top turn, but he just wanted to go vertical. Also, which is safer to avoid nose diving: top turn or a snap? It seems to me, if loose speed and your board gets more horizontal, than you won't nose dive. Thanks guys.

Is this called a re-entry because he’s going above the lip and coming back down to re-enter the wave?

    Yeah, that is a re-entry

The type of wave helps too. You can't do snaps like this on a thigh high mushy burger with barely any shoulder.

It's amazing I learned to surf in the early 80s with people yelling die Kook to anyone new, shitty wetsuits, bad boards etc. compared to the pampered "coached" mom driven - new wetsuits and boards etc now days.
