I remember there being a lot of drama over this fight. And honestly it makes sense, the powers of Undertale and Touhou characters both are rather vague most of the time! Chara, for example, can pretty much *nuke reality itself* by the end of the genocide run. To put it into perspective, compare this to *The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception* from Kinoko Nasu's works. To those that don't know, those possessing these mystic eyes can also kill concepts/apply a death state to certain things. They see lines and points of death, the former representing end of life, the latter representing end of existence. Spoiler, Shiki Tohno kills the existence of a corridor during one of the routes, it completely collapses the moment Shiki stabs it's point of death. Chara here, can do essentially a similar thing, they're so powerful at the end of the genocide route they can literally slash the world and it's timelines into non existence, a feat *even greater* than that of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. But not as specialized, it likely wouldn't kill someone like Mokou without needing to destroy the entire world with it. Sakuya, on the other hand, has *ZA WARUDO-* ahem Manipulation of Time, and due to Time and Space being connected, she can control both, but her primary focus is time. It's why the Scarlet Devil Mansion is so huge on the inside, Sakuya made it a TARDIS. Of course, Sakuya can very much stop time for prolonged durations. Though as you can see she is stressed by overusing her ability. That said, I have no idea where all those "omnipotent Chara" and "dimensional warper Sakuya" comments come from. The former would be more accurately our favorite goat boi Asriel in his God of Hyperdeath form, and the latter seems to be Yukari Yakumo, with her ability to manipulate conceptual borders. TL;DR both were kinda overblown in the comments. As for what I think of the matchup? Frisk and Chara are surprisingly a good match to Sakuya. If they fail, they technically get unlimited lives, due to being able to RESET, only ever giving up if deciding the matchup is impossible. Sakuya has a MASSIVE combat advantage, but a max level Chara would be able to make quick work of her, they're a killer after all. Both fighters have powerful abilities, too much to properly calculate as factors, it's up to skill... As someone who performed genocide of all monsters, LV 20 Chara would have combat experience in *spades.* Having pretty much hunted down any beast that exists in the Underground. They know how to kill many things, and could easily apply that to humans too, even if they're not getting the "killing intent attack amplifier" the Monsters are oh so weak to. ... As the servant of the Scarlet Devil, Sakuya must have fought off dangerous rivals to Remilia Scarlet in the past. Plus, fighting off the incident masterminds in Gensokyo! She also has experience in spades. Both can win in my opinion. That said... How the heck did Sakuya access Frisk's menu?!

-this is where you are wrong,Chara didnt destroy reality,evidence by you can still access it -Sakuya canonically isnt using much stamina when doing ts by her sleeping for pretty long time to your usual time manipulator limits and no she stressed here doesnt mean she does too canonically -Asriel isnt omnipotent,Yukari is whay you call reality manipulator -nope even with max lvl Chara,she cant even scratch Sakuya with spellcard rules,heck Sakuya without spellcard rules will be just overkill for Chara as it literally gonna end in second and yes Reset gonna be worth shit if you got erased from time itself -No,Underground monster is literally weak,they cant even win during the war especially with those advantage of magic,weaponary and even physical difference between human and monsters -Sakuya is time and *space* manipulator,that itself gonna explain it

@@thenewbie6335 -When you try to access UNDERTALE after a genocide route, it's completely empty. Null, and, void. It's gone. Chara can remake that reality if you really want to play the game again, but... At that point Chara is completely in control, permanently changing the pacifist ending. -It's an extraordinary ability which has a lot of potential and could possibly cause major damage, with being able to pull parallel selves of Sakuya and, well, what you saw in the video. -That actually has lore explanations in UNDERTALE. If a monster gets even as much as one human soul, it becomes extremely powerful, god forbid what would happen with like 10, would be a good number for the Human and Monster war. Even with 6 human souls, Flowey was able to manipulate reality however he wanted, gaining access to your save system. -Reminder, the spellcard rules were made *PRECISELY* because people like Chara or any wild youkai could just cause carnage with their power. And you know how prideful some of the youkai are. It's not a physical restriction, it's pretty much a law system to prevent violence by giving an alternative way to solve disputes - danmaku duels. In fact, the rules, or specifically Chara's ignorance thereof, would catch Sakuya off guard! -While yes, monsters were unable to win the war, they're not actually that weak in comparison to a normal human who never hurt a fly! It's *because* humans gain so much LOVE that they become master killers that they're so powerful against monsters. Even if it physically wouldn't affect the user, their LOVE would represent their ability to hurt and *kill.* -Isn't Sakuya's ability listed as Time Manipulation specifically? She manipulates space as a consequence. Otherwise Gensokyo would have two gap hags, Sakuya's common method of travel is stopping time and moving to the location.

@@pyroball602 -nope,winds still exist in there,Reality literally meant all of it,if she destroys reality she too also dies,the game isnt even deleted like ddlc does since it represent the reality -its actually goes both ways in the waterfall murals -Reminder that Sakuya got more battle experience than Chara,Chara cant catch Sakuya off guard because of it - *cough* Pacifist Frisk and other human souls arent that strong *cough* -nope she actually listed capable of manipulating time and space,but i forgot where (i think its PMiSS or Bohemian Archives in Japanese red) she herself is FTL without using time stop (listed in volume 2 of Forbidden Scrollery)

Winds still exist, so she didn’t destroy the reality. Only one timeline, because otherwise we wouldn’t be able to restart the game. Sakuya can manipulate space and time, there is no focus, both are at maximum. Canonically she can also stop time for unlimited durations and it doesn’t make her any tired. She could access the menu via space-time manipulation. Or maybe Frisk played on easy modo and Sakuya came to kick her to the main menu. Sorry to tell that, but if we look at canon, Chara is basically featless. All the powers that she used in mere 5 minutes of being shown belonged to Frisk and depended on Frisk, Chara didn’t show any durability at all, so basically nothing about her is known. Except for the plot part.

It's kinda like real life physics. You can't go back to the past. Even if you can, it would create lots of time paradoxes. Advancing to the future is viable, because it doesn't mess or warp with the perception of time. If ZUN intended this to be how Sakuya's powers works, he is a genius.

Not exactly. For the hit box I know undertale has a freaking big hitbox(cuz I played that) but considering for some shit reason Chara managed to get 99 f*cking HP instead of 1 which Frisk got. And how she died doesn’t seem like to be hit by a bullet: the massive 99999999 thingy seemed like Chara sliced herself……? And for the machinegun thingy ,Chara’s knife can shoot a big red swipe that deal 9999999 damage (And somehow Sakura survived two hits wtf) so that’s not a disadvantage.

@@Consd93 everyone and their mother in Touhou is MFTL. We aren’t even entirely sure that sans’ beams are Lightspeed and not 1/3 of it! Take the speed of a snail, then take the speed of a max speed, no limits, car. That’s the sheer speed difference here, Frisk is basically always timeslowed a near stop relative to Sakuya. And don’t forget Sakuya has far more up her sleeve than the spell cards

Homie, I was just stooping by to rewatch this again. Feels like it was even better than I remember and I remember finding this during that whole "Great Undertale Vs Touhou War" time period. Still love how you did Best Girl (Sakuya) justice. The video is always amusing to watch and makes me laugh. Heck, I never even noticed the short video that had Remi in it, very cool. I know Animating is quite time consuming, but would love to see you do some more Touhou videos, really like you style. either way, good work! Can't wait to see what you do in the future!

Well, kinda, I mean, I played my first Touhou game after I defeated Genocide Sans, and honestly, the difficulty of Genocide Sans translates pretty well into the first couple of fights, so honestly, I didn't have nearly as much trouble as this Chara playing through my first Touhou game, and ever subsequent game to come, the only boss I had to retry more than once was Yukari, for obvious reasons, while Undertale may not be nearly as difficult, the discipline it takes to complete Genocide Sans and Passive Asriel are pretty good preparation for starting the game and really getting into it.

I remember being an Undertale fan when this came out. Now I don't even play it anymore. I just suddenly became a really big Touhou fan.

To the Undertale fans who complain about Touhou: you DO realize that Undertale's creator Toby Fox is a big Touhou fan? You wouldn't even have Undertale without the existence of Touhou in the first place. The entire fantastical creatures cut off from the outside world by a magical barrier thing? Touhou did it first! Industrialization of the underground where a group of ostracized creatures live? Touhou 11: Subterranean Animism. There's also Tsunderplane, some of the music is very Touhou-esque (Spear of Justice), and the entire final battle is full of Marisa-style rainbow stars and lasers. Seriously, look up Imperishable Night Stage 4B and compare. Touhou is a huge fandom that was around for ages before Undertale even existed. It has a ridiculous number of doujin circles dedicated to remixes (there's a compilation that's bigger than a terabyte), not to mention the quality of other fanmade art/videos/games is over the roof. So can you please just stop treating Touhou like some "weird vague anime thing" that's supposedly threatening your beloved Undertale and just calm down?

FOR THE ATHORITY WE FIGHT!

The sheer amount of touhoes (as I insist to call them) that can just kill you instantly or end the world in a single move makes all comparisons in power between these two games extremely one sided. Yuyuko controls the border between life and death which means that she can just instantly unalive you. Yukari controls all gaps including those that are on a molecular level which allows her to straight up evaporate you, she can also control gaps between universes so she can just bring some sort of lovecraftian horror into the battle and win. Reimu can become intangible so you literally can't hurt her. Mokou and Kaguya can't die *PERIOD* Youmu can move faster than the speed of light and her sword can cut almost anything. Cirno is the strongest character in anything ever. Mimi Chan is a literal intercontinental ballistic missile. And Sumireko has a 3D printed gun. The reason we don't see them use these powers is because they all came to an agreement to hold back while fighting so that they wouldn't get carried away and accidentally end the whole world. Meanwhile Chara can respawn... Imagine if there were checkpoints in touhou, it would be infinitely easier!

When I watched this for the first time, knowing not all that much about either game, but knowing a little, I was confused how Frisk/Chara lost. A bit afterwards I figured out why this makes sense, but did not bother to come back to this video to comment my thoughts. Today, I saw this video on my homepage and thought I would re-watch it and comment my thoughts. Note: I still do not know much about either, though have learned more since I first watched. The problem with my original estimate was that I was only considering if Frisk or Chara had the _power_ to beat Sakuya, Reimu, and Marisa, not if they would realistically be _able_ to. Frisk has the power of Determination, and would continue trying to win forever, no matter how hard, eventually either getting skilled enough or lucky enough to win, even though Sakuya and the others remember and can change up their strategies, then immediately Saving their victory. If nothing else, everyone else, remembering the constant time loop, would get bored or mentally exhausted, either giving up or slipping enough that Frisk could kill them. Chara has the power to destroy worlds in an instant, so even if they would not be as Determined as Frisk to win, they might eventually have been able to annihilate Sakuya and the others. They could, if they got bored, just destroy Gensokyo. If Chara went full out from the moment they took over, they could have won, but unfortunately (for them) they revealed their powers without using them to their full potential, so when they tried to use their full potential, Sakuya, Reimu, and Marisa were prepared. Really, if you think about it, Chara is the reason why both of them lost. If Chara had not gotten impatient with Frisk's failures, Frisk could have gone on forever, eventually winning. If Chara was not so arrogant that they decided to play with their "food," they could have ended as soon as they took control. The only reason why Sakuya, Reimu, and Marisa were able to interact with Frisk/Chara while in Save limbo, was because Chara died at the same time as deleting Gensokyo (or just using their full power to kill Sakuya) allowing the three to appear in the void. Chara would never have been able to win, even if they were in control the entire time, because their personality caused them to make several mistakes. There would be no possible alternate to this video where genocidal Chara would take the safe option and not play with their "food." This is different for Frisk, as if they never lost control to Chara, even if it meant they were only LV 19, would eventually win through sheer perseverance. Honestly, I think this is a very accurate depiction of what would happen, provided that Chara has the ability to take over Frisk, which, while not canon (as far as I know) to base Undertale, is something that (as far as I know) happens in many fanfics/AUs. If you went strictly from canon abilities, Frisk would win eventually, but as canon Chara pretty much has no character (as does Frisk), it is much more interesting this way. The only (minor) complaint I have with this is the fact that Frisk is physically dodging Sakuya's attacks (or trying to), rather than using their soul. I realize most people may not interpret it this way, but from the depictions of combat in Undertale, I have always thought that Frisk does not necessarily dodge attacks with their body, but rather only with their soul. One could argue that that only works because of monster magic (possibly it doesn't affect human's bodies) and would not be the case with Touhou's magic attacks or knives, but then I would argue that Frisk would not have any capacity to dodge, as their only experience is with moving their soul.

The problem is that Chara never destroyed an infinite structure. The only thing that was destroyed is mountain Ebott, while Gensokyo has a few infinitely big structures like Sanzu river, heavens, Myoren shrine, etc. Plus all of the characters can fly so you cannot get them in melee unless you fly too, which Frisk cannot do. They also have too huge hacks.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate how *FREAKING AWESOME THIS IS*? Seriously, not only is the artwork *extremely* freaking fantastically drawn, but the tributes and homage it plays to Touhou and Undertale is marvelous. I've seen some great content come out of both Touhou and Undertale, and this really made the best of both worlds. It doesn't matter for me who won; what matters is that is an awesome video in the end of the day, and I definitely think that. I love the animation, the artwork, the music choices, the humor, the references, and the extra content thrown in those additional videos. You did a phenomenal job, JzBoy. I very much love this, and I appreciate how much time and effort it must have taken you to get this out! You've more than earned my like, favorite, and subscription. ^^

Coming back years later, hard to believe I was such a salty kid back in the day that I actually threw a fit because Chara lost lol.
