Seems to me that it was choking on the wrapper, which is indigestible and won't dissolve. Like the piece of cheese was still individually wrapped, as is common practice.

In situations like that, you don't have time to think or question what other people would do or react. You do the best you can with what you know. They saved it.

I was about 12 yrs old i saved my aunt's life that way. She had the habit of tilting her head back while laughing. This time she had a piece of steak in her mouth when she started laughing. Next thing i see she's choking... I banged on her back real hard with my fist and the steak flew out. She told me that she was so sure she'll die that she already said goodby to her kids. I never knew of anything about this lifesaving action, it just came instinctively to me. But! There was a few times in my life when i swallowed liquid the wrong way and started caughing and the person slapped my back with open palm. It burned so bad that i had him to stop it. If i was choking on something solid that would never have worked. You can't put enough force out that way either. A strong bang with my fist saved my aunt but i just know it wouldn't have worked with open palms even if i did it several times....

I had 4 young ones after the mom was hit by a car 😂 they are crazy smart they would get on each others shoulders and boost each other out of the huge bin I kept them in .
