Those hair jokes would not work in 2018. Monica getting braids would be slammed as cultural appropriation. Edit: I didn't think this would blow up that much. And I definitely don't wanna be a supporter of the crying white boy movement "nowadays you can't say anything anymore". I think it's great that nowadays views are getting challenged and we as a society are more careful not to hurt each other. Only privileged people are privileged enough to cry about not being able to say stuff publicly without getting an honest response from the public. Depending on how frizzy my hair is sometimes it literally wont all go back into a ponytail esspecially with bangs and layers but like 2 french braids might have worked-and wetting my hair wont work bc itll frizz up and ill have 5 trillion flyaways once it drys but like i said 2 french braids might have worked it would have been a hassle to wrangle though.

@@Cupidador Yeah I grew up with curly hair during this time in the 90's and curly hair was DEFINITELY a don't. Everyone's hair was straightened or pulled back otherwise you weren't cool. I didn't start wearing it curly often until high school in 2000. If you watch the show the ladies rarely wore any wave in their hair. I've seen it a few times on the show especially the first season but afterwards not so much.

Indigenous ppl have it, asian ppl have it, indian ppl have it. And the main reason why BW started straightening their hairs was bc their natural hair and hairstyles were seen as ugly, dirty,etc. Still to these days black women can't go to work bc of their hair being "untamed", and little girls cant go to school bc of it too. They overdid it with the hair jokes and only girls with curly hair will understand this. Grew up watching this show and still love it but I was taken with some parts of this episode.

I’ve a curly hair and I’m not offended at all! I make jokes of myself for having frizzy hair when it’s humid! It was funny episode! And I totally can relate to it!

I have the curliest hair and wasn't offended by this at all. Didn't feel targeted because I love my hair the way it is ! We shouldn't identify to fictional characters like this really we should enjoy it for what it is: entertainement ( i'm not a snowflake btw)
