A good friend of mine was a farmer in fox territory. Also a former hunter. Rather than outright kill the predators that invariably stalked his chickens, he built his property up to deter the predators- and left bits of food and water and dog toys and a dog house and such out near his barn. The foxes became like outside pets to him. They didn't bother his chickens or their eggs anymore. They weren't hungry or bored. They raised their young near his barn. He brought beautiful photos of them into work. He didn't try to train or socialize them. They remained very much wild. He just sort of topped their food and water off and let them do their own thing. Once they had no need of his livestock, they stopped bothering. It was a fascinating dynamic.
