Pretty sure they edited together multiple takes in post, the way they made it sound in interviews is that he would ad lib a lot of random stuff and impressions and they kind of stitched it all together in the post editing process.

@@CharlieTooHuman that was for ad lib in speaking lines like the whole beginning scene with the merchant. It would be more difficult to do that for a song rather than him switch on the fly.

@@bahamute6198You’d be surprised. Robin Williams was incredibly talented and was high performing when allowed to improvise. I don’t think singing would have been exception with him. I’m pretty sure they went through multiple versions/takes of the song and spliced together what worked and sounded together best
