Hahahahahahahaha you read my mind!
the guitar, the amp, the pedal...and the skillful player...is the most important component
Peter Thorn and another one of his GOLD STANDARD GEAR REVIEWS...
Your arrangements are so good and the tone you're able to achieve is incredible. Thanks for doing these, it inspires me to focus on my playing instead messing with knobs. Sometimes we get lost chasing tone when the majority is in your fingers.

Fingers and a great musical Brain .
you have the best gear demos of them all imo ...thanx pete
How is it possible that you've only got 66000 subscribers? You do the best gear demos out there and more people should be watching.
What a great combination of musicality and 'gear wisdom'! Thank you so much for your demos, Pete!
Thanks again for being so generous with your time to help out the rest of us!!!
It's so nice to hear a great composition played by a great guitar player for a demo. Congrats Pete!
Great tone and riffs Pete. I really enjoy these demos man.
Nice instrumental piece for the intro, Pete, and it really shows off the "dirty compressor".
Pete you are a friggin' machine, thanks for the effort it takes to put together these vids!
Absolutely amazing! In my opinion, your videos are one of the best on KZread.
Thanks, Pete! You're a real musician, not only a great guitarist!
Beautiful Pete! Real vivid shades of the late great GH (RIP)
One of my favorite intros here! Between the awesome slide riffs and the wonderful second part of the song. Great demo!
The king of product demos......you the man thorn...👍🏼🤘🏼
Been waiting so long thanks Pete
Omg, that intro was one of the best things i've heard from you
Excellent work Mr Thorn.
That AC15 + comp combo was one of the finest guitar sounds I've ever heard. Humbuckers plus an AC15 is one of my favorites to begin with, but the SIR COMPRE really took it to another level!
awesome as always Pete!
Pete, you never fail to inspire. I have to say, nothing but a large smile on my face watching this one. You are so under appreciated. Please release another CD/Album/Compilation.....WTF do we call it now anyway???
You don't mess around when doing demos do you? The effort you put into it is amazing. Awesome stuff.
I'm not a pedal guy as I am still exploring the software world of guitar FX but I do have a collection from before there was a software world of FX. However, demos like this really get me thinking and really illustrate well their utility. (Your method is the best I've seen on KZread.)
That sounds really good.. For a second I thought I was listening to Dean Deleo.. Great Job Pete, in bringing out the different tonal possibilities of each individual instrument. Killer demo.
Very nice musical ideas! Sounds different! Love it!
I've never really been into compressors, but through an AC15 this is just Dean DeLeo in a box! Lovely tones as always Pete.
fantastic effect and review
Wow! Just.. wow!! Great sounds, great compositions, great playing.

I have that same slide. great job pete
Love that Yaron!
That piece needs to be on your next album. The pedal was great but your song was KILLER!!
finally I've been using a preamp and compressor together on my board for years this would save space on a fly board!
Your AC15 Tone (starting at 5:00) might be the best Vox tone I have ever heard on youtube ...nice man. Your recording technique picked up the high end that seems so elusive to capture on mic
That was perhaps the best piece of music you have come up with. Great demo, better music
Fantastic demo. Thank you!

Great sound in that first black guitar!!
Great demo.
It should be named Sir Pete Thorn Compressor...Great demo as always Pete, keep rockin'
Compre - Sir. I see what you did there, Friedman!
Pete Thorns’ dope…No reason, I just like your reviews and affinity for Suhr gear…
Really enjoy all your demo's; inspiring to say the least. This vid gave me GAS......bought the pedal and I feel much better now! Thanks again Pete !!
Great demo Pete. I was going to spring for a Bogner Harlow for that slightly boosted compressed lead tone...but this Sir Compre ticks all the boxes...and then some!
that first tone with the vox is just gorgeous...ok the 2nd one too....
I really like the way Pete breaks things down and shows each "layer" on the demos. Very informative.
Excellent song. I love the subtle 60's / LedZep vibe. Still - this sounded very much like _you_. I'm looking forward to your new album.
Just on the Compressor setting with no gain added, it seems to sound at least as good as a EGO Compressor . Lovely
I think you sold me on this one Pete, even though your playing makes everything sound incredible. I played my Orange OR15 last night into a Orange 2x12OB for the first time with my band, with just a TC Spark Mini with a touch of delay in the loop. Realized at the end of the night I never touched my OCD pedal. THIS Friedman pedal may replace the OCD now :) kudos Pete you are a freaking badass! Next time I'm in my hometown (LA) I'm gonna try and catch you at the Baked Potato
so tasty... we want a new album !! I know "guitar nerd" by heart now ;)
hey pete I love your channel and music so you liked the sir compre and I got this and its great, with a friedman amp head and it has an internal switch to max the gain out, it comes set in low gain but the inside switch makes it a huge high gain overdrive. very different. you can add a ton of clipping, not at factory setting. its amazing high gain but it must be unscrewed opened up and switched
Fantastic track! Very STP
Hey Pete, amazing stuff as always. Do you have a pedal setup that will get a player up to speed with a basic 'great nashville guitar tone' for guys that only have a clean amp (fender hotrod deluxe) and one guitar? Somethin' with lots of versatility. Thanks, your reviews are the best!!
I see your demos and it makes me want to spend my retirement $$$ and buy more pedals! Oh well it's a great hobby! Thank you for a great demo!
Suhr/SIR - Friedman - it's so compre-tly com-fusing! Great demo, as usual. Seems this pedal would work great in front of a Marshall, as a light OD, with some compression added to taste!? Kind of like the BE-OD, with less gain and more compression!
slide guitar is so nice when its played like that.
Pete, that song is incredible. Please release more material like this! Reminded me of later Stone Temple Pilots with better emphasis on arrangement. Please take that as a compliment.
on the tasteful scale that was a 11 out of 5
Gee l hope you played skins as well Pete ; } Great work mate loved all parts........ Wayne from Australia
if you compile all the intro of all the pedals you have demoed, and make a cd i will be the first one to buy them !!! and i wont be the only one!!! nowadays i come here to hear music !!!
Cool sounds gretings from Spain ;)
Anyone tried this on a synthesizer? Really nice video Pete. Love your guitar playing
love the zeppelin esque jam
Yep you sold... I bought it :)
AC15 and the Sir Compre make a greta combo, it sounded very Beatles like with a touch of modern licks.
The different guitars is like a chronology of hair growth lol. Great review as always Pete. :D
Great pedal! Would have loved to hear it with all the knobs at 10 o'clock.
Good Stuff @ 1:40
Great Pete! Amazing sounds! You indicated that is a compressor for Guitar Country?
Inspired much?? What a great song you wrote there! This pedal sounds really good in pretty much every setting!
BONE!
That Yaron guitar is absolutely sick. Sounds ridiculously good. I also noticed that Fadd9 chord you stole from Tim. :)
Hi Pete, great review ! What about this compre comparred to Bogner Harlow ?? The Sir Compre works well used as a Volume Boost (with low compression or cero) after the BE OD for example ?
great demo, I see that beautiful les paul peeking and flirting in the back ground
Thanks for the great demo Pete, very musical and inspiring as always! I just had a question with the controls. Is the Comp knob the mix knob, or more like a compression level knob? (I'm not sure if my question is clear) I was basically interested in getting a comp pedal with a mix, or a control to add in clean guitar/clean blend, what I understand to be more of a parallel compression pedal. From what I understand, this pedal doesn't really have that, or am I just misinterpreting the controls? It seems like some comp pedals (to me at least) sometimes have different names for their controls. If it doesn't have a clean blend, what is really appealing is the gain control. Thanks of your time!
I'm wondering about this pedal going either before/after a Fuzz Face or another OD. Would the compression on that Boost add too much noise when stacked with dirt like Fuzz Face or even a Dirty Little Secret? I'd be using it for tone shaping, so the gain on one of the pedals would be lowered. Wonderful sounds as always Pete, wish I had a dealer near me that carried Friedman gear.
Hey, Pete. Did you mess around with the internal switch? There's a switch to make it more of a "full-blown compressed OD" according to the manual. Also, I kinda wish you would have used it to boost/compress the Friedman BE-OD with the internal gain trim pot turned down a bit [say between 9:00-10:30]. Anyways, still awesome demos of both.
Bought this pedal yesterday and I still can't find my jaw, it hit the floor and I'm too busy jamming to look for it.

Excellent, Ya it's a good one, I agree :)
With my eyes closed, I would have sworn that first LP-style guitar was a Tele. I hope you will take this as a compliment- the track has a real Deleo brothers vibe to it ala Army of Anyone. Dig it!

Ahhhh, the black LP-style guitar is a GY Bone. That makes sense.
How does this pedal compare to a stand alone compression pedal because I have the be-od and I love it , I want to get a compression pedal and I'm wondering if this will cover all the bases plus get the extra benefit of having some distortion
Pete, is this a good pedal for the loop of a Runt 20? Looking to smooth the high gain a bit but push more sustain for leads.
It kinda seems like this pedal could be used simply to make a low-output p'up push like a high-output p'up...? The addition of 'grit' is like a super-hot humbucker in a clean amp.
is this pedal a bit able to do what a Schaffer Replica does, can we achieve the Angus Young sort of sound with it?
Pete, what are the settings when you are playing slide?
The middle pickup setting on that black guitar is stellar, what are the pickups on that thing?
@PeteThorn
7 жыл бұрын
They are Gils pickups.. indeed it is a GREAT sound in the middle and in all 3 positions, i agree
Is this pedal good for metal if used like an Ibanez TS9 in front of a high gain amp ?
Ciao Pete. Secondo te, quale pedale potrebbe riprodurre il crunch fluido, acuto e dolce del Jim Kelley LIne Amp? (io mi ispiro al sound di Mark Knopfler - DS) Un saluto L
Hey Pete, I can't find that exact Gil Yaron model you're playing. Is that built to your specs?
This box will give you a hair cut as well, it seems. You must of had the clip turned up. 🤔Excellent tune Pete, thanks!
Did the intro song (up until about 1:10) remind anyone else of STP?
awesome demo, Pete... Have you still got the price tag on your bass? 😆
sounds like paul Chapman era UFO
I hope Friedman is paying you well because you have probably sold more pedals for him than anyone!
Your bass - 'still got the 'ol tagger on it..'
Great pedal Pete. How do you think it would do with another overdrive pedal? Would you put it before or after?
