    Thanks for the advice regarding wet wading, it makes sense. I see you spend a lot of time fishing, and as for everyone, the most important piece of equipment is the waders. From my personal experience, try the Simms G4 Pro previous model, or Simms G3 wading pants, you will surely go cheaper, because they certainly last at least three times longer than the others. The G4 leaked for the first time in 7 years on average 3 times a week in fishing on mountain rivers and streams in Bosnia. Thanks for the great fishing shots. Regards Milan

    I've had both of the Pro waders and Pro boots for over a year now, and have had no problems, the Pro boots in my opinion have no equal, as a guide, I believe that both are worth every cent you pay for them.

    Great tips Alex. Irving didn't seem to care though. Another good middle of the road wader is the Patagonia Skeena. My Patagonia foot tractors are falling apart though. I will definitely keep those Orvis in mind.

    Great review. I wear the Orvis Ultralight boots with the Pro waders. Keep an eye out for the soles coming unglued. I've run into that recently after about a year of use on my Ultralights, and I'm hearing it is a challenge with the Pro boots as well.

    Aha so maybe try some Hawkes Bay rivers we don't have a problem with what you put up with and the fish here fight just as well and difficult to catch too sometimes but I guess that's fishing Fishing not catching is the thing!!

    This turned out to be more entertaining than expected; liked! If everyone wants cheap waders which are comfortable and last long, why don't/can't manufacturers make them? How long did those waders and boots last? Are you still using them, by any chance? Is Irwin still around?

    Hi Alex great clip thanks for sharing. It's just an idea but when you get holes in the waders do you mend them? If you do maybe a Friday filler on how to patch the holes.

  • @TrippinOnTrout

    @TrippinOnTrout

    Hey dude, Most of the holes are tiny pin pricks or seams that wear away so I don’t tend to try and patch them. Especially the pin prick holes from gorse - there ends up being hundreds!! So I usually just retire them and move on..

    Missed this one until now. Any suggestions about hiking/fishing trips when most of the miles are out of the water, and one doesn't want to hike in or carry wading boots? Also, what were you doing in the jungle, and how was the fishing there? Last, as a US resident, fly fishing and rugby fan, please fix it so one can fish and watch the All Blacks at home in one visit. That's all for now...

    Alex, Love these fillers...been wondering about something and this FF made me think of it. Do you guys ever use the boots that have aluminum bars on the soles? Love 'em up here but curious about NZ. Also, for base layer thermals, ever try bicycle pants? They look like they'd be similar in flexibility and warmth (and dry quickly). Finally, thanks for the petroleum jelly suggestion. Hate blisters. Thanks, bro...

    Yeah the foot tractors are grippy as hell but also noisy and very 'skate' when boulder hopping. Also have seen those boots fall apart super quick on 4 different occasions, in two seperate countries so far..

    Hey Alex I assume that it is the blackberry bushes that are destroying your waders so I suggest you pack your waders in a back pack and put them on when you reach the river.cheers

  • @TrippinOnTrout

    BlackBerry, gorse, bush lawyer, sticks, boulders, rocks and mostly it’s when I’m on the river and trying to navigate ways around and through them so taking them on and off isn’t an option. It’s all good, it just goes with the territory🤷‍♂️

    @@TrippinOnTrout It pisses me off to think that Blackberry and Gorse were introduced to NZ from the UK and has run rampant over the whole country. Whenever I walk up the path from the Stag Pool to the Cattle Rustlers and see 30ft deep of blackberry either side of the path I wonder how much nicer it would be with native fauna.

    Thermal leggings, made specifically of polypropylene, or do you not care if they are polyester? The Vaseline tip sounds interesting. I have a buddy who jungle guides in Borneo and will pass it on. How many days in a row were you feet wet in the forest and how often and how thoroughly did you get to dry out in between? Thanks for this video. Good stuff.

  • @TrippinOnTrout

    @TrippinOnTrout

    I don’t care too much bro - just whatever works really. I was in Bolivia for 3 months, feet wet all day, every day. Rotated 2 pairs of boots constantly, dried and powdered my feet every day and did everything right. Got it bad once and then started Vaseline and BOOM, no more problems!
