Such a great reaction, Jen, I knew that you'd love it. You'll love the next one too, I'm sure. As for the music, it's all '60s songs with the exception of 'Soul Bossaova' which was written for it, the instrumental track that you liked earlier in the film. The next one, 'Austin Powers: Goldmember' takes the action to the early '70s and features themes from, Disco, 'Blacksploitation', etc, and we meet Austin's Dad.

The funniest of the trilogy by a country mile…absolutely love it 👍
the Austin Powers theme song was originally recorded in 1962 by the one and only Quincy Jones. The name of the tune is "Soul Bossa Nova"
There was a short-lived TV show in the 60's called The Time Tunnel which featured a spiral patterned time machine.
The debut of Mini-Me, also RIP to Verne Troyer who played Mini-Me he was my favourite character.
The way he runs on the Jerry springer show is hilarious 😂
Jenny Bond: u have an award winning laught 😅
Jen. After you watch Austin Powers 3 be sure to put "In Like Flint" and "Our Man Flint." Both contributed to Austin Powers stylistically (just not as much as the Bond films) :-)

And The Ipcress File (and its sequels "Funeral in Berlin" and "Billion-Dollar Brain").
Okay, Jen...the Mass Effect mention was AWESOME!!!! The song that Elvis Costello sings with Burt Bacharach is "I'll Never Fall In Love Again". The song originally came from the musical 'Promises. Promises' (1968), based on the Oscar-winning Best Picture 'The Apartment' (1960). It has been recorded many times since then, and it's one of Bacharach's most enduring hits. Model Rebecca Romijn was just beginning her acting career, transitioning from modeling when she did this movie...in 2000, she took on one of her most famous roles as Raven Darkholme aka Mystique in 'X-Men'. She's now on 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds'. The other model, Ivana Humpalot was played by Kristen Johnston who was on the hit sitcom '3rd Rock From The Sun'. Rob Lowe got the job as the young Number 2 because he was Mike Myers's friend since making 'Wayne's World' together, but also because Rob grew up around Robert Wagner's kids. He even dated one of Wagner's daughters. On the golf course, Rob came up with the idea of him playing a younger version of Number 2 in a sequel and pitched it to Mike while playing a round of golf. He even did his impression of Wagner for Mike, making him laugh. Next thing, Rob is cast as a young Number 2 in the then-untitled Austin Powers sequel.
As I've stated before, all 3 of these movies are amazing, and each one is great in it's own right. I prefer them in the order released, as each new movie seemed somewhat of a copy of each previous film in regards to the same gags being used as well as some comedic moments. If I saw this one first, it would have been my favorite, as it would have been the freshest in regards to the gags, or the same if I had seen the 3rd one first. Thanks again for a great reaction video.

The franchise was very much aware of that. They even acknowledge it in the 3rd one. One of the character says ''They're doing the same joke they did in the last one''.
in case it wasnt mentioned, the moment when austin powers sees the criminal in the reflection of the woman's eye, then using her as a human shield, was an homage to one of the early scenes in goldfinger. cant wait until you get to commando. arnold's finest 80s cheese.

Mini Me wasn't suppose to come back, but Mike Myers thought the actor was so great he added the scene at the end saving him.
Trivia- Aside from being a model, Rebecca Romijn also plays Una Chin-Riley on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, who is known as "Number One." Which means there are three different Number Ones in this. And since you asked, with the success of the first film, this actually had a music budget which is why it had Green Day, Lenny Kravitz singing American Woman and Madonna singing Beautiful Stranger and oh dear lord, I have not thought about that song in twenty years. Anyway, both of the music videos for the latter two songs contain explicit tie-ins to this film.

So glad you enjoyed Austin Powers 2, eh? Between the '90s throwbacks and Bond nods, it's a hell of a good time. Those tunes weren't penned for the film, just a perfect match, like poutine and gravy! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the trilogy's finale, just hold onto your toque!
Of the three Powers films, I think this one is the best. I think Heather Graham is very funny/good in it, the jokes are generally better, Scott was in it more, and it was just an overall better movie than the first one, and definitely the third one. If you'll watch anything with a portal/wormhole, you need to start reacting/watching some old Slider episodes. I think you'd really enjoy the show. :)

RIP Burt Bacharach. I must admit, when I heard, my first thought was this moment, playing with Elvis Costello on a (air quotes time) "London Street". Here's to Burt. And here's to Jen, our favourite Canadian bird.
“You gonna cry?” That reference was from “The Great Santini”, a great Robert Duvall movie.

Another great reaction 🤘 I think you'll love Goldmember, it's my favorite of the trilogy. It's got the best Dr. Evil scenes 😂
Fun fact, Dr Evil's voice is an impersonation of Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live.
The fact that you did your homework with the Bond films for these makes it all the more hilarious. The first two are the best. Fat Bastard was Mike training for Shrek.
OMG, you... Mass Effect? Commander Jen Sheppard? Wow. Best game ever!
The second, Austin Powers, rewatch done for you, Jen. I really enjoyed your reaction a second time around.
This one is my favorite Austin Powers movie, simply because of the female protagonist's role. She really holds her own with Austin. I will admit, however, that Goldmember has my favorite intro sequence. I look forward to that reaction.
I've said Jen's Bond reactions are the best thing on KZread, and her Austin Powers reactions may come in second. Loved seeing you crack up, Jen. I still prefer the first one, but this one has some great bits (such as the Jerry Springer scenes) and some great new characters and cast additions, like Mini-me and Rob Lowe as a young Number Two. While not a Bond reference, on his honeymoon in the beginning Austin is watching "In Like Flint" and mentions it's his favorite movie. It was the sequel to "Our Man Flint", both are kind of tongue-in-cheek send-ups of the Bond series, with Derek Flint as an American secret agent. The ring-tone on Austin's car phone is the same as the phone in the HQ of the intelligence agency (Z.O.W.I.E.) that Flint works for. If you're ever in the mood for campy 60's spy comedies you might check it out, he was kind of the Austin Powers of his day, without the goofy parody of the 60's decade, obviously. There's a lot of 90's rock stars that did songs for the soundtrack, though I don't know how many made it into the film or just the credits. Madonna had a hit with "Beautiful Stranger", and Green Day, Scott Weiland R.E.M. and Lenny Kravitz did covers of 60's songs.
Great reaction! And you are correct, Jen! A good #2 always makes one feel better than a good #1. ❤😂❤
I bet someone else has already commented it, but the song that Elvis Costello is singing is originally by the Carpenters.
I know that I should have made this on your Austin 3 movie but I’m rewatching these cuz it’s a little bit of serotonin. This is the best series I’ve ever watched. And I watch all the great reactors. (Also I think you’re top tier I share you all the time). The fact that you went through all the old Bonds and you get more references than me - cuz I haven’t watched them in 20 years - is amazing. And then to watch you absolutely laugh harder than I’ve ever seen you laugh in any of your reactions. Well. It speaks for itself. I’m so glad you did this. The Austin Powers Trilogy has always kinda been niche to most people. But If you get it - you get it. These movies are ridiculously hilarious if you’re a Bond Fan.

Your laugh is worth watching the movie.
I love all the random stuff that happens. Great reaction Jenn and you have great memory for all the Bond movies.
I know you are going to think I'm mad, but in the last powers flick the best part, ( for me ) is Scott evils dance moves in the last 5 seconds , I wish I could bust moves like that,,,,😂
4:41 Rebecca Romijn plays herself here... and she's Mystique in X-Men (2000-2006), replaced by Jennifer Lawrence (2011-2019).
I was getting anxious on when you were able to post this. Sorry YT is being such a prude toward your channel, Jen. Along with the Bond references there were a few other obscure film nods as well. The scene of Dr. Evil and Mini Me at the pianos is a goof on a scene from the 80's film, "The Island of De. Moreau" with Marlon Brando and Brad Pitt. Can't wait for Goldfinger. Love it as well as the rest, and because Micheal Caine is in it.
14:38 Detective Frank Drebin: "Hey. What's a scene from one of _my_ movies doing, here?"
If you love the transitions, watch Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In sometime. The ads for this one used the tag line "If you only see one movie this year, see Star Wars. But if you see two..."
Fun fact: Mike Myers modeled Dr. Evil after SNL creator and producer Lorne Michaels. Of course, it is an exaggerated version of Lorne Michaels but he does actually have that same Dr. Evil speech pattern and cadence.
The "Are you going to cry?" basketball scene is from the 1979 drama film "The Great Santini".
LOL, So much fun watching this, Jen. I laughed so hard, like you. Thanks for fun movies like this 😂 🥹 👍
Very nice reaction. This is absolutely nuts. From start to finish, so much fun.
Austin Powers was iconic in the late 90s
I used to watch this movie over and over again on DVD as a kid, it still holds up so well unlike some of the other 2000’s comedy movies I loved 😂
Our Man Flint, In Like Flint (James Coburn) and Matt Helm (Dean Martin) (The Silencers, Murderers' Row, The Ambushers, The Wecking Crew) movies were my fav Sunday afternoon campy spy movies from the 60's. Right up there with the Bond franchise, sort of. LoL Also, In Like Flint has a secret lair Volcano that blows up spectacularly.
This came out the same summer as Episode I, the first new Star Wars in 16 years. Big huge deal. That's why they had the references in it. Their teaser trailer was. a fake Star Wars trailer. Chair spins around expecting the Emperor, but it's Dr. Evil instead.
"Spectocals, testicles, wallet, and watch" Comes from the movie Nuns on the Run with Eric Idle of Monty Python Fame. It's actually a common theme in the UK but was popularized by both this and that film

MASS EFFECT ❤
This was actually the second Austin Powers movie that I saw, as it aired on TV, on the Comedy Network (now known as CTV Comedy, as I'm sure you're aware) in early 2003, shortly after the third movie came out on home video. I'd seen the third movie in theatres, but I'll talk about that when you react to the third film, and I wanted to see the other ones, so I took the opportunity to tape them when they aired on TV. So I ended up seeing them in reverse order. Great reaction Jen.
The song performed by Elvis Costello in this movie was a big hit from Burt Bacharach, who was one the greatest pop songwriters of the 1960s. Go through his discography and you'll likely find several songs you're already familiar with, including "Do You Know the Way to San Jose," "That's What Friends are For," "I Say a Little Prayer," "The Look of Love," "Close to Me," "Walk on By," and lots more. Costello and Bacharach teamed for an album of original songs they co-wrote right around the time this movie was released, and it's full of gorgeous work as well. Check it all out!
16:51 is from a British comedy called 'Nuns on the Run', with Robbie Coltrane ((RIP) and Eric Idle. Cracks me up every time.
This was the last movie I ever saw as a civilian. Reported to boot the next morning. Ah, memories.
The Daniel Craig Bonds though quite serious in tone actually steal an Austin Powers plot point..so it's great that you watch these before getting to them.
The chess scene ia an homage to the 1968 film" The Thomas Crown Affair" with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
This came out at the same time as Episode One so they did a funny ad campaign saying if you see one movie see Star Wars if you see two movies see Austin lol
