UPDATE: I no longer consider Yngvi Frey and the Vanir to be older than Odin and the Aesir nor do I associate them with a different race of people, for eg. pre-agricultural or pre-Indo-European. Rather I thin the Aesir and Vanir distinction corresponds to an ancient Indo-European tradition of there being multiple tribes of gods.

What has caused you to have such a shift Tom? There was obviously compelling evidence for your initial findings (I know enough about you to know you aren’t a rash individual) and I guess there must be equally and more powerful evidence for the statement above, so please share if you would. Also - I find it very refreshing that you can change your mind about something you initially believed to be true, which is a rarity among people.

This is very accurate. By the time they started making religions they all had fake gods even the Catholics were naming saints. To some degree out brotherhoods held together with the teachings before evil came in and ruined it, same with the pagan family

yes friend i am from india and follow hinduism and we all are pagans before but in india chriatians and Muslims are not able to convert the people fully to there religion and we intact to our old and true religion sanatan relihion and Hinduism..

Me and my family goes there every year or so. When I was little, and it was allowed, me and my brother used to roll down the hills or run up on them. At the church right behind, at the graveyard, my great grandparents also lies. It’s such a cool spot, to think about the history around it. But it could also be a really fun playground :)

Can you support the idea that the Vanir were pre-agricultural and the Aesir were brought by some kind of external agricultural force? I have seem the theory postulated but never stated outright as in this video.

Interesting. Regarding any possible real Yngvi-Frey burial, unless they don't find one near Gamla Uppsala (difficult in any aspect) I would go for the 1000 BC Hågahögen to the south. There a major Bronze age chieftain was buried in a large barrow in a oak coffin, with precious gold objects. After the burial, sacrifices were made into the barrow including humans. 2000 years is a long time but perhaps not too long to keep oral tradition of a founder figure alive.

Fascinating insight. I consider myself pagan so have a great interest in this. I do like the Upsalla mountain top temple in The Vikings Season one but realise it wasn't actually real and it was likely to be built in a lower land area. Do we know the significance of nine? Another thing is the archeology doesnt equate to the historical descriptions. For example i cant find anywhere on the map where the spring was ment to be, or the platform that is said to be where the blot was held turned out to be another burial mound.
