Absolutely, Georg Friedrich played this character wonderfully and I definitely would like to see him return (possibly in his Taltos guise, as an adversary) in the 2nd series.

LOVED IT. IT WAS AMAZING. CANNOT WAIT FOR SEASON TWO. ITS DARK AND DEEP AND ALL ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY WITH A TASTE OF CRIME IN IT. ITS THE PERFECT BLEND OF INSPIRATION MADE INTO A SHOW.
Freud was the one who said sons want to subconsciously have sex with their mothers and daughters want to have sex with their fathers. That's why in the show he is so in love with his mother and in the darkness/subconsciously in his trance like state he has sex with her.

Guys! It's not a documentary! It is a movie!! They are playing with some aspects of Freud's work and turn it into a murder mystery movie! It's well made! 👹😅 I know a lot about Freud. I live in the city he lived in. I've been in his apartment, which now is a museum (a really good one!). And ... I still really enjoy the show! Just don't take it seriously!

@@johncamp7679 Just some basics like that he lived in Vienna, that he experimented with cocaine and hypnosis, that he was not taken seriously by his colleagues etc. These things are true. But the whole murder-mystery stuff was made up. There was no sexy psychic Fleur ☺️ and he never worked as an "detective" etc.

I myself loved it. The mixing of fiction and Freud (while using much of the same locations as Babylon Berlin) was just what I needed after binge watching BB.
Wow.. Didn't expect this show would be this good.. Didn't quite love the way the story went, but it was totally fine, as the message from it was great, which was The ability of controlling the mind of the young adults or youth.. The acting was really good.. Really good music.. A predictable, yet interesting and binge worthy show.. Loved it 7.5/10 The European shows r getting better and better.. Thank you netflix
It’s easy to underestimate the prevalence of the occult in the nineteenth century. We tend to think of the period as an age of scientific advancement, a period of new sciences and their corollary societies, institutions, and publications, but the period was, if anything, an epoch of contradictory and competing forces, such that, as Roger Luckhurst writes, “every scientific and technological advance encouraged a kind of magical thinking and was accompanied by a shadow discourse of the occult”. Indeed, in the striking words of Jarlath Killeen: “no major Victorian thinker or writer, from the Brontës to the Brownings, from Dickens to Darwin, was unconcerned about the occult”. The most culturally visible occult phenomenon in the Victorian period was spiritualism. Spiritualism brought metaphysics to the masses. The controversial “materializations” of the séance room seemed to suggest that, far from a transcendental immateriality, the spirit was a substance that might, through the correct methods or propitiations, reveal itself as an empirical substrate - a claim that was simultaneously esteemed by thousands, ridiculed by thousands more, feared by theologians, investigated by a dedicated scientific body (the Society for Psychical Research), and debated furiously in the popular press.
I loved it!! One purpose for creators basing it on Freud as such could also be that Freud's name is enough to get viewers into the zone of the complexity of human thoughts and the gradation of consciousness. Did the trick for me! Waiting for season 2 !!!
Your intro music sounds like a Tame Impala song. I dig it! CAN YOU DIG IT!?

It’s great. And it doesn’t feel like a cash grab ripoff of Freud, despite its historical inaccuracies. It is more like a poetic imagining of Freud.

I don't think there will be any season 2.
I just finished watching the Netflix series, FREUD. I will say it was a great deal to process and then trying to tie it altogether was a challenge. The cinematography was excellent. All the characters presented were very intriguing to learn about. I guess what I took from this series was Freud, cracking the surface of what occurs in somebody’s subconscious, and that perception is reality within a person. Sometimes the best series or those that we may not truly understand completely, or there is a wide spectrum of what this series was about, but I will say I was glued to watching each episode closely, and intensely to catch all the details of what the series was portraying.
What helped me appreciate it was looking at previous examples of abraham lincoln vampire hunter.
I am just waiting for Never Rarely Sometimes Always on VOD. What are your thoughts about this movie. Are you excited?

*Stolen from a comment in the trailer released on KZread* "Oh Freud, when you say one thing ,but means your mother!"🤷♂️
(SPOILER) That first demonstration does set up the main plot of the story: Freud's initially fraudulent attempt at hypnosis showed the power of suggestion possible through hypnosis, which is how Sophia manipulated Fleur and their various targets throughout the show.

Absolutely loved it and there is a lot of similarities Freud is one of the if not THE father of psychoanalysis and this film symbolises our basic drives brilliant 👍
This is not really historically accurate... Freud did burn a lot of his old work and really was into hypnosis when he was younger... so we don’t really know what was happening in Freuds Life or what he worked on when he was younger. This is one possibility or interpretation of what happened in his life. Obviously there were big parts added in the stories favor and to make it something people will watch. I really liked it for what it was and enjoyed it a lot

I think the title is what throws people off. FREUD sounds like a straight up biopic. Murder mysteries featuring famous people doing things that never happened is an old tradition in the genre, like those goofy Toby Peter mysteries (by Stuart Kaminski) that I got hooked on back in the 1970's about a Hollywood detective helping the Marx Brothers or the cast of The Wizard of Oz who got tangled up in some crime drama. But those had titles like YOU BET YOUR LIFE, or MURDER ON THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD that let you know right off the bat this wasn't going to be historically accurate. In that spirit FREUD might be fun, although I'm getting a creepy STRANGE ANGEL vibe off the trailers...
Nice shirt lol and review
I am watching episode 6. It does draw you in but I wish there was less blood and more of real Freud
just finished the first ep and I think had they not marketed it as a show about Sigmund Freud, people would have taken it a bit more seriously. I think it's promising.
I really liked it. The actress that played Fleure is a handsome woman.
I really liked the show. Not what I expected, it’s not really about the titular character in real life but it was entertaining nevertheless.

the series is crazy as fuck (in a negative way). i really wish they would have made it more realistic and based on true events! the whole thing with the hungarians is bullshit. being from austria i kinda feel ashamed about this very first austrian netflix series... just sticking to freuds life would have been much better and more interesting...
The story was confusing and it was far from scary
couldnt recommend this show highly enuf.... if you've studied Freud then you'll know this show has a lot of deep undertones of his early work.

Yes.... what’s wrong with you? Bahahaha
Sorry...this show started out interesting and then went into a gory, demonic mess. I guess people can waste their time on this if that is what they are into, but beware. This is so brutal that I think Freud would be horrified that he is being depicted like this. This is not for anyone.
