Fretless Bass Solo - 'At The Helm'
Музыка
Fretless Bass. My favorite instrument on a song called 'At The Helm'. Alot of people ask about about basses. I did a major sale of several instruments last year that had any ergonomic issues. I then set out to work on a new fretless bass with Vinny Fodera and the Fodera team that would have all of the ergonomics matched to my body as well as an amazing tone. This left me with just a few basses I love and am completely comfortable with.

I swear to God, slow bass solos are amazing in general.
This is the best bass solo I have heard.

I really don't understand why so many people say that fretless guitars and bass guitars are crap. I guess they're just not good enough to play them🤷🏻♂️
@cheesegood733

You're right, most of them don't know how to use them. They're specially good when you're playing songs with lots of sliding as it provides a cleaner and smoother sound

@@JubbLaRacing Oh I have. And in every case it's because they're trying to play it wrong, or they just don't "get" it. Full disclosure: I've tried and I'm crap at it, but it's definitely my failing, not that of the instrument. Hearing music like this is what motivates me to try harder.

I think people say that because it takes a lot of skill to play them which is skill they may not have. I'll admit I've never played a fretless before (accept once in a music shop with an upright, which I think counts) but I'm hoping to get one soon. They're so beautiful, plus the harmonic slide has an allure. I wouldn't say they're better but they're different in many ways.

@@DamianCoccio My error. I though you said it was a favorite song when you were referring to the bass. 🤦♂️ Definitely agree on the expressiveness. I learned on an upright many years ago and currently have a Fender AmPro Fretless. Haven't transitioned to anything more than 4 strings yet - they give me enough to keep my fingers busy ;-).
