Музыка

On June 24, 2014, acclaimed songwriter/producer/author Rodney Crowell stopped by the Fretboard Journal offices for a live streamed music performance and interview.
Go to the FJ's website - fretboardjournal.com - to see even more exclusive interviews, podcasts, performance videos and more. The Fretboard Journal is the guitarist's bible, featuring in-depth interviews with legendary players and builders, photo essays and more. Every three months, subscribers receive a new, 128 page keepsake issue of the magazine in the mail.

When Crowell saw the 1930's Gibson L-00 we had on-hand, he decided to use it instead of his own personal guitar. He performed "Famous Last Words of a Fool in Love" and "The Flyboy & The Kid" from his 2014 album 'Tarpaper Sky.' He also talks about his instrument collection, songwriting and his book 'Chinaberry Sidewalks.'

Rodney Crowell is one of those artists who towers below the radar. Just fantastic.

Rodney: "I wouldn't presume that my career would be worthy of anybody's attention" Is he kidding. I'm just amazed at the humility of this Man. I could listen to his music for hours. It's real, honest, and from the heart and experience of life. He is probably the closest to Merle Haggard, in his down to earth style.

So glad I had the honor of meeting Rodney recently... Got a lot of catching up to do, as he said he has written a lot of songs since Ieft...I spent 40 years in Connecticut, raising two boys, pretty much alone and working hard [not a lot of music time]. Good to be me, retired back home in Tennessee.

Wonderful though the sound at the Tiny Desk concert is better, there is some distortion coming from the guitar mike but easy to ignore with such beautiful songs. Now that I'm retired I can go find him rather than wait for him to come to Atlanta. The Outsider album is a truly electric Rodney at his best.

65 years you had to use finger picks like all the cool folk singers except I never liked them and didn't use them and still don't. Finally, finally I feel vindicated so many top pickers like Rodney and Mark Knopfler and Vic Gill pick with bare fingers. Rodney and Emmylou have always played Gibsons. It's interested that he's on a Martin show mostly touting Gibsons.

I had no idea Rodney was such a fine guitar player. It's as if he gets out of the way and lets the guitar sing with its own voice. I'm not surprised really, the man is a master.
