Gabe Dean only lost to Bo Nickal by one point in the national title match. Being able to wrestle competitively with Ed Ruth and Bo Nickal puts a guy in a special class.

This match and Dake vs Taylor match were my favorite to watch at that tournament

Nice match by Dean, but in the national championship, Ruth handled him and left no doubt. And btw, that stall point awarded to Dean was a bad call.

GD was a guy who always puzzled me. Like in this match, he definitely looked like he wanted to prove a point. His skill, effort, drive and determination were there throughout the match. Then he gets beat, by a less skilled wrestler and almost looked bored during the match. Up and down for the season why? I truly thought when at his best or just ready to win he could have won 4 NCAA titles.

Ruth was so unbelievably good if he did not go the mma route certainly may have become a world champ, it shows how good Dean was also.
