Animal Humane Society (AHS) started adopting cats with a history of litter box aversion over a decade ago in a program coined the Fresh Start program. Since inception, over 3,500 cats have gone through this program. AHS has tracked outcomes and followed up with many adopters to be sure AHS is doing the right thing for cats and the homes they are going to. This presentation will go through the science and research behind inappropriate urination and what AHS found when putting those ideas in place in a shelter setting. Learn what has worked, and what hasn’t, to be able to create or improve your own program.
