I always heard, hoped and thought that de Jong was a great player but could never truly understand why until now, thanks a lot for explaining it like this man keep it up!

The stats speak for themselves. He completes the most dribbles out of anyone in the Dutch league, yet he loses the ball less than anyone else. He also completes the most passes. If he continues to develop this way, he could truly be a new Xavi for FC Barcelona.

He is great for possession. He allows the other two midfielders to play very high. Which is ... exactly how barca likes to play. I don't think he is great passed the midfield line. But on his own half ... a great strategic player.

I'm interested to see where he plays in the midfield. People say he will inherit Busquets position but he is not really astounding at defense, I can't see it. I can see him actually being players further forward in the iniesta type of midfielder. This will depend on Carles Alenas development though as he plays that iniesta role and is showing great potential too.

How I see it, De Jong is a Modric/Rakitic type of player these are great midfielders who can defend at quite a high level for their position. But aren't specialists at it. Even now you see Rakitic often put in the role of Busquets at weaker opponents. Now in the Eredivisie where De Jong plays, you can get away with playing a Modric/Rakitic type player on DM, because well, the opponents just aren't as great. (I say with grief, as a Dutchmen) So yea I doubt he will play at Busquets's role predominantly, who actually is a specialist DM. But who knows how he develops.

Zuhair Yassin Frenkie can do What Arthur cant, thats Why barca bought him. Arthur is a great player And With frenkie they will complete eachother. Arthur can control And dictate the tempo of the game, like Xavi ( not as good obviously ) but he cant make things happen like iniesta, And de jong can ( obviously not as good as iniesta )

Fabio Guerreiro hey I don’t know if you’re still needing help but I can’t imagine you’ll get an email, take it or leave it but here’s my advice, watch more videos like this one, it’s one thing to be great on the ball but especially in midfield you need to be good off of it, notice how De Jong gets Into open space and knows where everything is before receiving the ball, it’s all about awareness but I think more videos will help you improve, good luck Fabio!

if you wanna do a serious analysis on dutch level, u can only analyse him against Feyenoord, Vitesse, PSV & AZ, the other teams are of such poor quality its incomparable with european level of play. Plus of course the Champions League games and the games he played for Oranje (Holland squad)

How hard is it for the people at Barca to se he’s a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER/playmaker?!? Why do they still instruct him to stand on the frontline? He ALWAYS plays from out back!

He is an amazing talent and he fits Barca's playstyle but what people forget about him is that he takes a lot of risk in his game and makes quite alot of mistakes. I see him play everyweek because i'm from the netherlands but he is not worth 90 mil. 50 mil at max. He is not strong like Pogba. He is not fast as David Silva. He doesn't have the world class technique that Iniesta has. He can become a great player but there are midfielders that are just better than him. Barca should have bought De Ligt instead, their defense is pretty weak and De Ligt would be perfect for Barca. Edit: He can play CB but he is not a defender, doesn't have the strength and he is perfect as CM next to Coutinho and Sergio Busquets. In my opinion Barca should have bought Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid. He is worth way more than De Jong but is better in every way and can fill in the gap that Iniesta and Xavi left behind. Transfers such as Boateng and Vidal are useless. They are just dogs that make fouls every game and lack the tactical insight.

Shahed Ali true, But even as a lm he doesnt really fit in. Being a lm requires more defensive work than playing as a #10 Wich i think is his best position. But barca arent playing With a 10, And Messi occupys that space, so Coutinho hasnt got really much space. If he drives into the lw position, from the lm position, he occupys dembeles space. Thats Why imo they need a lm who can play also deeper, closer to Busquets, instead of closer to dembele And Messi, But Coutinho hasnt got the qualitys to play deeper in midfield. Busi-de jong-artur would be great, With de jong on the lm position. He also tracks back to help alba, Wich also was a problem With coutinho playing lm. Alba was overunned many times on that left side when they got countered. I dont think coutinho has Any chance anymore in this barca team.

@@leobeenplakker6505 Exactly, but the issue with Valverde is he isn't giving him time as a LM. he did last season, he played good, but Valverde wont bench Rakitic, since having Coutinho and Rakitic isn't good defensively. Overall I think Valverde should give Coutinho a chance again as a LM, but like you said, and I've said too, he is a number 10, he isn't really the right profile for Barcelona, his not a shit player, but he isn't playing in that free role he had a Liverpool under Klopp, it was better for him to stay at Liverpool.

Shahed Ali agree. But giving him time, And adapt, And learn the system, And change his playstyle is to much i think. At a club like barca you dont have that time, you have to perform if you are a 26 Year old. If he was 19, And didnt cost so much, it Wouldve been a different situation.

To be more realistic for 86 mill, barca should have bought jong for 35 million and ligt for 51 mln or else i see yhe money wasted by barcas stupid scouting board as always in tha past 5 years, but i wanna say that jong as a cm he is perfect, ad dm he is not, also as amf he isnt and wont be worth the money. _BAKZ_ nah man. If he’s massively overrated then players like Mbappe Rashford, David Silva, etc. are overrated as well. He just has a really high ceiling for potential. I honestly think he’ll be a legend but his style is so distinct from any midfielder like Pogba. He won’t be Iniesta, Xavi, nor Busquets but he will be his own unique player and hopefully legend.

He plays on 70% now as he doesnt want to get injured when taking off to Barcelona. And Clasie is a premier league reject who massively failed anyway. I think Frenkie is a big talent but superhyped. He never scores. Few assists. He has never even really won a big game for Ajax. Makes clumsy mistakes around the 16. I am just glad it is Frenkie leaving and not Zyech or Onana.
