Frenchie reacts to Angelina Jordan "Gloomy Sunday" (Norways Got Talent 2014)

Ойын-сауық

Wow. Just wow!! As I keep discovering Angelina in her younger ages, I'm more mesmerized than ever! This is the first interpretation on "tv" that I'm discovering, and I'm actually pretty amazed at how at ease she is on stage at such a young age! She's definitely one of a kind!!

Since you ask, I moved from Indonesia to Norway in 2013, and saw Angelina first time at this performance. My husband was very surprised, he knew the family, but didnt know they were on Norske Talenter (NGT) that year. He thinking they would wait one more year. Of course I fell in love with Angelina then, and in the same year he introduced me to her. You can understand, that moment made me fan for life. Thank you for this lovely reaction, merci beaucoup, tusen takk, terima kasih. Looking forward to the next one 💕

Wow. Indonesian who know Angelina personally. Lucky to you sist. I am fan of her btw. Angelina is prodigy just like our indonesian boy Joey Alexander. As Indonesian i assume you know him right? Jazz pianist since 7 years old, self-taught, got professional since 9 years old, 2 times grammy nominees. Angelina and Joey also got the similar vibe: old soul, humble, super-talented and until now we still don't know where's the talent from. Hope someday Joey and Angelina could met each other to play some jazz for us, they are from the same age and same music genres (although Joey's jazz is more heavy than Angelina)

@@MrMetalWarlock Hari, terima kasih, I really like your idea they will come together and do a performance one day. Of course I know about Joey, I been crying to his piano performances several time. His talent is just beyond anything. I love listening to him, he has a God given gift. I love that other Indonesians discover Angelina. She is amazing. I can not say I know Angelina well, I just met her a few times, spoke some words with her. But my husband knew them well. Sadly, he passed from covid-19 at a hospital at Jakarta a few weeks ago. So stay safe, Hari, take social distancing serious, and use mask. I watch CNN Indonesia daily, and follow the news. Hopefully we are over this soon. God bless.

Just came to me - I live in Denmark just south of Norway - The day after this audition, the hostess in the Danish TV-news said, that something extraordinary had happened in Norway, and then they showed Angelina´s whole audition. One more thing - Angelina has later told, that the moment she walk onto this scene, she felt at home, that it was here she belonged.

  • @wajj1842

This is her opening audition, and she's telling the judges her name, that's she's 7, and the song she will sing. I've listened to Billie's version of this, and I was surprised how much Angelina sounds like Billie, given that she's 7 years old. The judges were in shock. She performs 4 songs on the road to winning this competition by a landslide (almost half of all the votes). If you haven't seen the other three performances, they are quite remarkable. She's snaggletoothed, has mounds of unkempt hair, wearing a cute little white dress, is barefooted, and has all the confidence in the world. I will leave you the links for the other three performances: "I'm a Fool to Want You" kzread.info/dash/bejne/foyf0K6TdNK4hrQ.html Another Billie Holiday song and she just nails it---a cappella. The judges thought they might have a star on their hands after "Gloomy Sunday", but after this they were sure of it. "Bang, Bang" kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZXhkx5KmmbC5eZM.html Sonny Bono wrote this for his then wife Cher. Then Nancy Sinatra sang it in an acoustic cover (1966). Angelina has turned 8 now, and is performing Nancy's rendition and she just kills it. This one is my favorite. "Summertime" kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zmhn0qSMoNubcpc.html She's covering Billie's version of this classic Gershwin song. And it's just terrific. I always enjoy your comments. Looking forward to your next reaction to Angelina. Best wishes.

Thank you for reacting to Angelina again . Great reaction video. This was her first audition, her second audition was "i'm a fool to want you", the next live broadcast was "bang bang" , and then "summertime " As i wrote before, I first discovered Angelina Jordan Astar when she first participated in Norway's got talent 2014 in this audition , when she was7 . I still remember that I was shocked in a positive way, and I have ever since that time been a fan. A fan of a child. I wouldn't believed it if you had asked me 10 years ago. I have never been interested in the jazz music genre , but Angelina's interpretations of old jazz music classics has "opened my eyes" for that kind of music for sure, and in a way "touched me". One of the judges , Bjarte , gave a wonderful comment to her , and used words which was " on her age level" at that time. I hope you will continue to react to her soon. Angelina is unique and has the ability to touch our souls again and again. 😊

'I Put A Spell On You' popped up in my recommendations about two years ago. I was familiar (somewhat) with the song, recognized the title, so I clicked on it. That was it! After listening to it four or five times I began to search out other songs she had done and I've been a huge fan ever since. I don't think a single day has gone by since that first day that I haven't listened to at least one of her songs, I love her like she was my own grandchild, and for some reason I feel personally proud of her many, many accomplishments. I can't explain it, but there it is.....that's just how I feel about her.

Hi and thank you for your lovely reaction to Angelina. Since you asked, I first saw Angelina at the beginning of this year where she sang Bohemian Rhapsody on AGT. At the end of her performance, I turned to my wife and told her that was the best performance I’ve ever seen and I’ve been listening to her every day since, guess I’m hopelessly addicted lol. I would like to recommend La Boheme, a song that is on her “It’s Magic” from a video from Rusty Shackleford.

In 2008 I wasrecovering from a car wreck and watched many stations. They showed Noway's Got Talent and her performances on The View and other shows back in 2008. Then information exploded on You Tube (my phone) and connents that said she was hding a micrkphlne in her crib and started singi g at 1-1/2 years. Her grandma played all the old jazz songs and she went to a music store with jazz and listened to jazz songs. All her vocal qualities together are like a healing balm. I listen to her every day and when bad things happen, it wipes away the ugliness of the event. She is a gift of God to the world. Your expressions are perfect and you are doing an amazing job. When I read that an eight year old won Norway's Got Talent, I watched this song and eventually, Summertime, Bang Bang etc. There's something about the tone in her voice that particularly attracts me to her music. Since then I have a new appreciation for other artists through Angelina's covers of their songs. I never had a favorite singer before Angelina. I've listened to many, many replays of her songs, through watching reactors discover her, and I never tire. Many songs I've listened to more than a hundred times. I can't get through a day without some Angelina. She is a joy. Thank you for your reaction, FT.

I often try to imagine how those judges must have felt. To have a seven year old girl walk barefoot onto the stage and sing Billie Holiday with that level of skill and soul must have been like seeing a Unicorn flying over a rainbow, they were utterly baffled and amazed. They must have just instantly known that they had, not only a winner, but also a phenomenon of music that is better than anything Norway has ever seen. I bet they still talk about today.

Very nice reaction to Angelina, it's something that binds all the fans of Angelina, in particular for her first interpretations, in which she wonderfully connects her voice and her talent to that aspect of her little sounding bird. To think that at 6/7 she was perfectly able to read, analyze and connect in a foreign language, without any doubt or fear, with the audience and the judges of the talent seems impossible. 😊 She insisted on convincing her mom to enroll her in the NGT, because she was sure of herself ... at seven years old! ❤️❤️ The first judge, at the end of this song said what remains for me the simplest and most fitting description of Angelina, she said, "you are the music", there is nothing more true. As Stefano Pratola says, look also at the other three interpretations in NGT in 2014 after Gloomy Sunday, I'm a Fool to Want You (acapella), Shot Me Down and Summertime, each song more fascinating than the others, but choice the files with the english subtitles activated, because also the words of the judges in Norwegian, give an idea of what emotions she was able to trigger already at 7 years old 😁😁 Or if you prefer at the other end of her artistic evolution, you still have to discover the three other fantastic reinterpretations of his participation in the AGTC 2020, Bohemian Rhapsody, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Someone You Loved

I found Angelina in May of 2019, my granddaughter gave me a book to fill out about my life and she wanted me to give it back to her on Christmas. One of the questions in the book was what was my favorite song when I was young. The song was "Cry Me A River" by Julie London, so I decided to look it up on the internet to hear it again when I looked it up I found Angelina singing it, then I saw "Gloomy Sunday", then "I Put A Spell On You" then I was hooked. I have really never been a fan of a singer before.

At this stage in her career her voice was improving so fast that each performance at NGT was better than the one before, IMO. My favorite from that show is her final performance of Summertime. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKd2yKSuk5zKaaw.html My favorite very young performance (8 yo) is her cover of What A Difference A Day Make. @Keith Serafy you haven't put all the sequence with interviews before, this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKKkqNV8fq7gdso.html has them and subtitles (apparently Marie seems to have activate them on Gloomy Sunday video seen her reaction, but they don't appear in what she showed) where subtitles will allow everyone to benefit from all answers for those not acquainted with norwegian and how cute she is by showing her number 9 at the end as last digit for viewers call 😋 Lovely reaction Marie, et oui tu peux y croire 😘 ainsi que tu peux traduire par "tone of voice or voice tone" le timbre de voix😉; you can also look at this performance acapella of Billie Holiday's "I am a fool to want you" (you can go at 2:50" & no subtitles on this one) on semifinals of same NGT kzread.info/dash/bejne/q2eju86odry4qqw.html where all contestant have to sing acapella but hers it is a so difficult song to handle even with music support/help moreover with a two-teeth mouth and she did it/managed perfectly, just awesome!😳 And this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKKkqNV8fq7gdso.html to end the NGT 2014 final show complete with interviews! Amazing too together with her Summertime cover which has no comparison or perhaps just to name some Louis A. or Ella F., at her level rendition!!! Now, to your question about how I met AJ, it was a recent discover almost 1 year ago: I was looking for some info over Angelina Jolie and thanks to Google and its anticipation feature of your query, it started to show up Angelina Jordan links, first of ones "I Put Spell On You" and there started my journey! 😘 From then, I cannot last one day (I call it my daily medicine) to listen on her singing songs and most of all, by principle I dont used to go on what it is called "social networks" (as an IT guy, I indepthly know all the bad that is related to those "social" things - not social at all😕) and guess what? Because of Angelina I've now a Facebook & Instagram account as well as a Patreon one😳, this last one is to financially support her as much as I can and help her remaining independent, just to allow me to join hers!!! 🤗😁

I have to admit, however, that few reactors have the indepth vision/view to catch what Angelina has or come from; I mention 4 of them and not suprisingly that they are all professional women coaches, that probably you know ;-) : - Christi Bovee of Voice Love Company Coach, here for Yellow Brick Road kzread.info/dash/bejne/foCYlMqbltfJg7A.html and as Rusty S. commented in her reaction she has the best format by listening before and "deconstruct" (explain) later on - Valerie White Williams of Vocal Splendor, for her knowledge of jazz/blues way of singing you can have the inlighting on this Angelina's major cover kzread.info/dash/bejne/d21qusOneK66qcY.html - Janet Tabaka of Confident Coach, we benefit from her description of what we feel but cannot describe objectively about her presence on stage kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6SFr7Nyk7Pah8Y.html - and a more recent one, Elizabeth Zharoff, as opera singer from Charismatic Voice and yet another specific technical aspect of Angelina's abilities kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6SFr7Nyk7Pah8Y.html These reactions allows us to put words on "wow" ;-)

I found out about Angelina through AGT Bohemian Rhapsody and then worked my way backward, listening to vocal coaches mostly to try to understand what makes her voice so special. Even the experts can't quite pin it down, but all agree it comes from a deep place that reaches a deep place in the listener. Bought both her albums and listen to her heartwarming, soulful voice on my walks. "Old soul" doesn't even begin to cover it! One person said it made him believe in reincarnation, and because I already do, I've been trying to figure out which musical genius she was. Mozart, anyone? Lol!

I discovered her shortly after NGT when YT recommended her performance of "What a Difference a Day Makes", I clicked on it and was promptly blown away! It's outside, she's on a tiny stage in the middle of quite a large crowd, the musicians and backup vocalists are some distance behind her, and she flat doesn't care. She closes her eyes most of the time and presents her version in the style of Diana Washington's cover of the 1934 original. You won't believe the difference in her voice that just a few months have made! Keith Serafy provided a link in his comment. Some call her an angel with a 1000 voices. I'm beginning to believe that she's got a repository of old souls inside who help her paint the emotions with her voice that she couldn't possibly have experienced herself. I very much enjoy your reactions, btw!

The concert you speak of has got to be one of her best ever at that age point. I was shocked at her confidence, and relaxed almost cool stage presence. You could see the audience was in her grasp, and eating it up.. I saw another concert where she was escorted from the parking lot up to the stage by armed guards as if she was a Super Star. I do not know what country that concert was in. People just love her wherever she goes.

It's hard to grasp how good this is until you compare it to the Billie Holiday version. She is so close it's scary, but at the same time she is making it her own in many places too. Even at 7 she was putting her own interpretation on things. And then from there she just gets better, and better... and better. Every new performance is something special.

I just gave this a thumbs down. It had nothing to do with Angelina's performance. The thumbs down is for the reviewer's reaction and comments. There was no substance to it. She didn't have much to say beyond how cute Angelina is. Angelina's performance is so good that it will go down as one of the more memorable moments in music history. The reviewer does not acknowledge this in the least. She totally misses the point. We aren't watching because Angelina is cute or sings like a grownup. You aren't reviewing her because she's cute and precocious. We are watching, you are reviewing, all the other nonames are reviewing her because Angelina is a once in a lifetime prodigy. Her exceptional talent should be noted first by any reviewer. THEN you should explain what makes her better than other singers. That's what a good reviewer would do. Otherwise - thumbs down!

Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤️💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song ❤️💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤️💙 Loved your reaction!!!

that is the best explanation i have heard that "another body or soul has taken her over" when she sings. People say she sings with such an old soul voice, but that leaves you wondering how that could happen. She certainly gets into another mindset when she commands the stage without a single worry. How else could such a young lady do this.

I would like you to react to a performance that is rather emotional - when she was 8 years old. She went on stage even though she was sick - and the sickness somewhat affected her vocals in some parts of the performance - but it had a huge side-effect making the song even more emotional - it got me right in the heart and is one of my Angelina favorites. Please do "ILL BE THERE".

I watched Angelina on KZread back in 2014 around the time she won NGT and was amazed by her talents. I guess I forgot about her until about a year ago I stumbled on a KZread reactor called Smylyface who had just discovered Angelina herself, who posted reviews of lots of the more recent Angelina's performances. Then, of course, Angelina performed on Americas Got Talent - The Champions and, ever since that, she has been reacted to like crazy. I am now a hopelessly addicted fan of Angelina who spends an hour or two every day watching her performances. I really do enjoy you reactions to Angelina. Please keep them coming.

Watch Bang Bang from NGT, I think it was her smoothest performance at NGT. I found her just clicking music on the KZread rabbit hole. You pick something and see what’s recommended pick something from that, and just keep listening and picking. And kind of stuck with her at the moment. I’m desperate to more of her own music.

This was the performance that first brought her to worldwide attention, back in March 2014. When a video of it was posted to KZread (within days of airing on TV in Norway), it immediately went viral, getting millions of views in a matter of days and leading to media coverage around the world. It was her first "real" public performance (the ones before it being limited to family and friends, events at school, and a few small public gatherings, like at an art gallery), and it "technically" brought to reality her dream to become a world-famous singer. (Although I'm sure it wasn't exactly how she had envisioned that happening. =) Her family could easily have begun to capitalize on all the attention, but instead they turned down most offers for interviews and personal appearances (and record deals). They've continued to "pump the brakes" on her career, over and over through the years, while still allowing her to realize dream after dream (from performing in the Nobel Peace Prize Concert [2014] to singing for Simon Cowell [2019])… all presumably leading up to her ultimate dream of superstardom, which she's had at least since she was 6. (But does she really still want to be a superstar? I'm not so sure… I guess we'll find out in the next few years.)

i know angelina fm norway got talent. At 1st i never thought anything cos she is juz a kid singing in a competition but my brain makes me wonder why so many people raves about her. I am not into jazz n i know jazz is not easy to sing n the song gloomy sunday she sing looks like a simple son. So i decide to hear how billie holiday sings dis song originally n to my surprised billie holiday sings the same as she sing her tone her voice her timber all same i was godsmack. How can dis little angel sing as same as billie holiday in every way n when i hear she sings acapella billie holiday song Im A Fool To Want To U on her second audition n when i check billie holiday version i was god smack again cos she sounds juz like her. Its impossible for a 7 seven years old to sing a jazz in her own way her voice control her tone her vibrato everything sounds perfect. From then i know she is not a child prodigy she is an angel. Till now i never stop following her she is the one she is above all singer of all generation. So my advice to u b4 u hear to angelina songs or a request u hear the originals 1st n u will understand what im saying about her she will top every originals she cover in her own way n u will prefer her more than the originals. Take care stay safe sweety.

Someone else suggested that you listen to her final performance on Norway's Got Talent; "Summertime". She just stands there on stage with her big hair, barefoot in her white dress, a single trumpet starts to play and then she starts to sing. She sings so sweetly, with such soul that she could make a grown man cry. It was just so way beyond her years. You'll love it.

right as angelina took the stage her mother says "are you ready inside." angelina answers "yes " her mother says " good , go out and give them jazz." mission accomplished. i love this family...when angelina was very young her mother ( sara ) remarked that angelina was very special. she wasn't talking about her music but that she had an incredible love for children. the more u discover angelina you will realize her mother knew her best. i really strongly believe if jesus had a sister - her name was angelina...

If you continue this path, for her second performance check this clip from Norway's Got Talent. It starts with a 90 second intro with just 15 seconds of her going to a music store. That 15 sec glance speaks volumes about her musical influences and the focus of a seven year old. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aYCKqs6Ymti1XbQ.html Judges comments are English captioned. After that there is just a recap of all the contestants in the show. I suggest skipping that part and also viewing her "Summertime" performance on same reaction. Love your reactions.

The second song she did for that audition Was (I think) even better, Another Billy Holiday song, but sang acapella. I discovered Angelina by chance on KZread. Many years ago. & have been a fan ever since. Now on AGT the champions the whole world seems to have discovered her. (I may have said before) Old age to blame. Ha Ha. But check out "What is Life" Written & composed by her.

This evening was such a jaw-dropping moment to me. The first time ever I heard anything about this girl. I am not shure I did breath for those minutes. This was a mindblowing moment, not just for me. I think it is a big moment for the history of music, in Norway as well as the world as a whole. I think Angelina is going all the way to be among the greatest. So thank you for the great reaction to this stunning moment in time. "Summertime" is comming up in the world`s northern part. Could not be more rigth to do her version of that song, as she was 8 and won this competition. I even hope you`ll do the other two performances she did on her NGT way, as well. You will never never regrett. Thats a promise. Thank you once more!! See you. All the best from Norway.
