Lara is the BEST. Such a beautiful voice. A professionals Master Class in vocal control & performance. No-one else does love & longing & loss with the sensitivity & nuance & power of Lara. The fabulous Dimash cites her as one of his most significant role models during his earlier studies. They have since sung together several times - which is magical ! You MUST listen to her 'Caruso' and her Paris 2001 performance of Je taime. Enjoy !

She tells her story, to you, personally. You get involved and can't escape.

There is a vid with the title "Je Suis Malade French and English subtitles" for anyone interested. While this was a cover she tweeked pretty substantially to famously make her own, she composes and writes most of her own mayerial (in French, English, Italian and Spanish.) You would love her original Adagio in English from this same concert From Lara With Live. If you like Italian, her covers of Caruso and Pedere L'amore from the same concert (vids with onscreen subtitles) are sublime. Fantastic reaction. 🖖🏾

She's Belgian-Italian btw :). And she sang for Luxembourg at the '88 Eurovison song contest, the one Celine Dion won.

In fact, she is italian by her mother, belgium by her father and canadian too, because she went to live in the Province of Quebec (Canada) as a young adult. She's a wonderfull artist, in her art and as a person, and she worked with the greatest names of the music industry. She's absolutely divine. :-)

She's now a Canadian citizen, living in Montréal with her husband and her daughter.

The song was written in the sixties, by Serge Lama, a french singer, after he had hard love life time. Lara took the song, and put it another level. She , too, at the time of this concert, had hard times. May be it is what she is so into the song. Anyway , she is a worldwide performer

If you like this, watch the version with English subtitles. The lyrics are amazing, so you will get an even more emotional response. It is crazy!

Lara Fabian did Eurovision for Luxembourg in 1988 against Céline Dion for Switzerland. Céline Dion won and Lara Fabian was 4th.

Fun fact: Lara Fabian represented Luxembourg at Eurovision 1988, getting a 4th place. That was the year when Celine Dion won for Switzerland. She has an incredible voice

I miss you!! So glad to see your video again!

I was present at that performance in Paris in December of 1999. It was a spectacular moment I whish everybody could live. Its been 22 years and I still have vibrant memories of that night with such a performer. She is out of this world. This does not need any comments.......just look and listen!!!!!

Loved your reactions for a long time. Welcome to Lara's world...she is the deep end of the pool. The best singer\songwriter\performer of the last 30 years. FYI - Always choose live with Lara...it needs to said. "Malade" is a practically the French national anthem. No one does it better. "Broken Vow" (English - she wrote it) is going to ruin your day. "Perdere L’amore" is a powerhouse Italian classic - a masterclass level of song and performance, in perfect Italian, that you will not be able to get out of your head (effortless perfection). "Mademoiselle Hyde" (English, tho she does another version in Russian) is written by Lara and Igor Krutoy the maestro (pick the live version from 2016 with Igor at the piano) is, lets say, a slightly more mature version of Lara slaying a beautiful, intriguing, kind of sexy weird song with an almost Arabic feel...killer Lara. "Caruso", another great Italian classic, is flawless and my favorite version of the song ever done including Pavarotti (and that is really saying something). Just her and a piano and she crushes it. Her biggets hit, "Adagio", a must see as are all of the titles I have mentioned and many more, has been covered by everyone including the great Dimash, but Lara is the queen and no one does it better (It is a hundreds of years old classical song she wrote words to and resurrected. "Je T'aime" is written by Lara and now a French standard that everyone knows by heart. You are entering into Lara's world and you will not come back.

By the way, "Malade" was the year 2000 from '"Lara with Love" live concert, all on video, and a masterpiece front to back. Don't start playing it unless you have over an hour, a box of tissues and a glass, or bottle, of wine (French or Italian) :) All of her videos someone has done a version with English subtitles. Many are in English but she sings in 12 languages. Born to a Father from Belgium and a mother from Italy (Siciliy I think) and raised for a time in Canada, she speaks English, French and Italian very very fluently tho she sings in many other languages as well. Raised in essence to be a singer\songwriter\musician, she has been at her craft since she could walk and is considered to have near perfect technique, an insane sustain, "ring", resonance in her voice that is hard to overestimate how hard it is to do and how beautiful it is. Yet with all the technical perfection, she uses it to do things with her voice to further the lyrics, the story arc, versus just singing great and somtimes this causes the sound to purposefully "suffer"... but combining her great voice with her physical body performance, the purposeful breaks and emotional breath and other techniques, she produces the best stage prescense and storytellling on earth.

@@justingamble3876 In fact, Lare wasn't raised for a time in Canada; she moved here at the age of 18 or 19 (sorry, I don't remember well) and she's a Canadian citizen. She began her career, here, in Québec. By the way, she's coming back on a regular basis in Montreal and have a house in Westmount.

This performance ranks within my top 5 ever performances. There is a version with english subtitles on youtube. I always enjoy your reactions. If i may suggest another singer, Floor Jansen. She is the frontwoman of Nightwish and was on a Dutch tv show called Beste Zangers. Basically all of her performances on there are amazing.

Not really. I think it's the vowel production and the belting that can make people say that sometimes. The depth and colors of their voices are pretty different to my ears. Granted, Dion is not usually to my taste, whereas Fabian is the ONLY soprano who has ever hit my neural net like liquid velvet.
