    Thank you very much, mr Cechaflo. Your videos are super tutorial. It would be great, if you could show us how to sew a corner (in the same level) with a french seam. I tried to do this in leather but it caused me much trouble. I mean like the decorative seams that some upholsterers use at the door panels of some cars, where there is a straight seam and then suddenly it makes a 90 degree corner downwards (VW Passat or Jetta for example). Congratulations for your art skills...

    I was told by an old upholster: (she is in her 80s and has been an upholster / sewer since she was a teenager.) She said that this seam is called the saddle stitch... This page seems to confirm that stitch is called a saddle stitch... www.talklocal.com/blog/2013/06/s/tailor/best-stitches-for-leather/ I guess it could also be called French Seams... sounds more exotic calling it a french seam... Excellent video ... I never I have always done these with out the two sided tape... That is a great tip and will use that in the future when I use this stitch.. It will make it so much easier especially on long straight runs.. I do them as long as 60" . I mostly do upholstery work for Classic Mahogany Powerboats from the 1920s to the late 1960s.. This stitch was use on a few boats from the mid 1950s and a bunch from the mid to late 1960s..

¡Saludos mil!

  • @Cechaflo

    @Cechaflo

    9 жыл бұрын

    Hi Philip, Thanks for writing me. Well, nowadays, upholsterers have generally adopted 'triple transportation' (walking foot) industrial sewing machines ... so called because the three bars move while sewing ... this allows that while one 'foot' pressing down the material, the other foot is raised, then takes its turn the other foot and so on, and it does not allow the material to wrinkle ... the 'feed dog' which is below and has its 'small teeth' also has much to do, letting the material not wrinkle or do marks ... if you sew fabric or thin leather, then this 'feed dog' should have small teeth ... the needle also is involved with it ... a thin needle 110 = 18 for thin materials ... 140 = 22 for thicker materials such as canvas or leather ... these pieces are changed according to what one will work. If you go to work on cars and furniture these are already in the 'standard measure' and it is not necessary to change anything, just putting on its 'standard needle' 140 and work. Known brands of machines are the pfaff 1245-706, 2545, marks etc; durkopp & adler 767, 867; Juki LU 563, Consew 206 RB, Industrial Singer, etc. I don't know where are you writing me from, anyway I am sending a few pages so you can appreciate these machines. If you are in good financial condition, I'd recommend to buy 'a new one'. if not, then 'a used one' in good condition would be OK ...they do the same and metals last a long time, just giving them their necessary maintenance. www.sewingmachineoutlet.com/consewtn.htm www.pfaff-industrial.cn/pfaff/de/products/sewing/pfaffcatalog?matyp=sewing&mainbranch=&branch=&operation=&resultitem=pfaff1245-601c www.solentsew.co.uk/products/Durkopp-Adler-867-Classic.html www.advancedsewing.com/salespecials.html

    +jose castellano Hola Jose, Creo que te refieres al 'refuerzo' o 'backing'...para esta demostración usé lona delgada y corté las tiras de 1 pulg de ancho...es lona plástica...puedes usar lona de tela también o algún otra tela coma la de jeans, que sea fuerte...este refuerzo es importante para contener al tapizado y no permitir que se abra cuando haya movimientos sobre el asiento o espaldar. Hay tiendas que venden 'merceria' y aveces tienen en rollos algo parecido que funciona igual o mejor. Hay cintas de estas que tienen 'cierta elasticidad' muy útil cuando hay curvas...caso contrario tienes que cortar estas partes con cierta curvatura, para que quede parejo. Este refuerzo, de preferencia, debe ser del mismo color que el material que va encima (cuero, tela o vinil). En este video usé una cinta azul (error...lo correcto es que debe ser del mismo color) que tenía por allí a la mano...suerte que mi 'costura ciega o de cierre' estaba bien apretado, de otro modo se trasluciría a traves de las puntadas. kzread.info/dash/bejne/oaVptJinn7ayg7w.html Gracias por seguirme en you tube!

    Asi es, sirve de refuerzo para que no se abra la costura de cierre y se mantengan paralelas las 'costuras dobles' para que no se deformen. Esta 'cinta' puede ser de tela, vinil o lona delgada.

Its nice that way because you teach us alot. Im thinking about doing my own car seats and thats why i find your video. I havent find anything else that shows the exact way to make the 2 pieces together. And yea that things with the rights is shitty.. They should just tell you to add them in the description or something.. Very nice videos tho! Have a wonderful day : ]

Durkopp&Adler, Juki, Consew, Singer, etc.
