French literature- 4 stories you should know
What is French literature and French fiction like? In this video I will talk about French fiction and literature by discussing four unique novels and short stories written some of the greatest French novelists. French literature has a rich history so these stories will give you a snapshot view of the culture and its people.
Books discussed in this video:
1:31 Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert
3:20 The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant
4:23 In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust
9:54 The Little Prince by Antoine Saint Exupéry
This is part of a Reading the World in which I will be reading books from every country on earth. Join me in my journey as we read and talk about unique novels and stories. Perhaps travelling is more exciting but through reading novels and stories you get to know a few characters and people form each country on a much more intimate level which may not be possible if you visited that country.
I would very much appreciate if you subscribed, shared and liked my videos.

Awesome!
Another fabulous video - thank you so much! You could try The Bone People by Keri Hulme, one of NZ’s greatest books which tells the story of 2 people’s coming together and co-exisiting, “Māori” (the indigenous people of NZ) and “Pakeha” (the Māori word for Europeans). Just a suggestion :) Keep up the amazing work! Zak, a Kiwi living in Hamburg that struggles to find (make?) the time to read fiction

I gave up the romantic life and my friends who gave up on me first so now I have all the time to read and work. Can finally subdue my library in my room after entertaining ephemeral things outside. Best decision yet.
I enjoyed this video. . and your research about the two types of memory. . .👍

Do not read it in English as the translations are crap .
The Little Prince is a masterpiece. I like de Maupassant, too.
I suggest noble prize winner in literature in 1988 Nagiub Mahfouz from Egypt " The thief and dogs"

Bra, I’m just wondering what soul would slave away a decade of their life to “return” (cough cough) a diamond necklace. I can just imagine what anyone else these days might say… “it was stolen”, or “I was mugged”. Matilda is crazy if it proud. I’m not sure which 😂

You hit the nail on the head. Pride is a form of madness i believe a lot of people suffer from.
Did you know Marx wanted to do an extensive critique of Balzac as he thought it was the best way to get at the core of modern culture
That's very ambitious, how's it going so far. Put my language in your list if want, it's malayalam spoken in Kerala south india.

@@Fiction_Beast In the middle ages there were only four faculties: arts, theology, law and medicine. The arts were the seven liberal arts: grammar ( latin), dialectic or logic, rhetoric ( these three were known as Triviam), arithmetic, music, geometry and astronomy ( these later found were known as Quadrivium). Later philosophy was joined to the arts and it was divided ihto three: logical philosophy, moral philosophy and natural philosophy. I mention this because I see you have an interest in philosophy..
